Cheap Lawyer for Drinking Ticket? (Charlotte, NC)?
I'm 19 and recently recieved a citation for underage consumption of alcohol. I haven't had any other charges/convictions relating to this in the past, just speeding tickets. I spoke with one attorney who gave me a quote of 5 not including court costs - that's way too expensive. Anyone know of a cheaper lawyer? HELP!
How fast above the speed limit do you go? How fast above will get you a speeding ticket?
I usually go 7 or 8 miles above the speed limit...
Speeding Ticket Court Appearance extension
I got a ticket in California and extended my bail due date. Does this also extend my court appearance date?
On my citation they are the same date but now my bail date has been extended, so does that mean I'm due in court on that new date as well?
I sent my bail last tuesday in the mail but was afraid it wouldn't reach the court by friday (even though it's only 30 minutes away). So I decided to extend my bail date online. I'm wondering if I have to appear in court on monday (which is the date I'm suppose to appear).
Any help is appreciated.
Speed: 55 in a 40 zone.
I really don't want to appear, I'd have to use a day off from work and drive down to the court house which would take too much of my time.

The radar said the speed limit was 30mph but I was going 31mph then a slowed down to 27 mph will I get a ticket in the mail?
Contesting charges added to a speeding ticket.?
So I have a few questions regarding a speeding ticket that I received. I had gotten the speeding ticket on November 21st 2009.
That previous week I had gotten my wallet stolen so I had my license with me, but not in a wallet.
I explained to the officer that I had Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and I needed to use the restroom immediately and I coud not find my license (because it had fallen between my seats). I was willing to look for the license but the officer proceeded to ask me for my Name, date of birth, and address. He said that he would send me a ticket in the mail for 10mph over, and THATS IT. That was fine.
I went in on November 24th so that I could jus pay the fine, and be done with it. The clerk had said that there was nothing posted, and that the officer may not have filed the ticket yet. Okay...so I waited for the ticket which could be several weeks.
I waited and waited, and talked to a retired police officer, and he said that it coud take up to several weeks for a ticket to get sent in the mail.
Come January 11th, still no ticket but I received a notice stating that I have failed to appear for a court appearance on the 28th of December, and that I have a failure to appear, and my license will be supsended in 30 days unless I respond. I immediately go down there, to find out that I not only had a speeding ticket for 4, but another 4 unavailable license ticket, as well as a fine for late notice. So I filed for a hearing to contest the charges and penalties.
I have a hearing tomorrow, but will I be able to contest just each individual fine, or will it need to be just for ALL the charges?
I really feel like I got the crap end of the stick on this one, and I am not an irresponsible person when it comes to following up on scheduled court dates and fines, but I felt as if this was a VERY unneccessary/poor process for giving me a ticket.
What should I do?

On the FTA status:
I had never agreed to appear in a court.
I had not gone in AT ALL and never received a ticket.
The Notice said that my account was delinqeuent, and I had charges that totalled 0.
On a ticket it usually says I have 1 days to respond, or I would automatically become guilty of the charge.
Apprently thats what happened. I never signed a document, nor did I schedule an actual hearing. Thats why I am so stumped on thei WHOLE thing.
What is the craziest thing you did to try to get out of a speeding ticket?

First Speeding Ticket. Can I fight it?
I was late to my university's final exam today, a minute away from my apartment complex, I forgot I had left my oven on. So I turned around, drove & got stopped.
He said he pulled me over for speeding, asked for my license and regisration. I couldn't find my registration, kept looking, but he said nevermind.
He said he pulled me over for doing a 47 in a 30. On the way back, I had no gas, so I kept looking at my rpm guage to keep it under 2,000. I only remember seeing my spedometer going up to 44, not 47. I didn't think I went 47, but i didn't say anything as I was in a hurry.
The only thing I told the officer was that I had an exam in 10 minutes I was late to, and I had forgotten something at home. That something was turning off the oven, but I didn't mention that, as I was kinda scared, being my first ticket .
Is there anything I can do? Say there was an emergency (oven on), wrong speed, late to exam?
Going 44 instead of 47 makes me in a different speeding bracket ($)
If I say I went 44 instead, will that count as not guilty? Meaning if his radar somehow shows 47 instead, will I have to pay the court fee's on top of the ticket cost?
He was an oldish man, not wearing a hat. I was partly bald.
Oh yeah, he tried to get me again when I went back to school, and he was tailing me about 2 cars behind. I noticed him, and he didn't turn his blinker on when turning. I did. Does that matter at all?
Officer fails to indicate method used for determining speed on speeding ticket?
I just got a speeding ticket stating I was going 54 in a 40 MPH zone (yes, sorry, I was in a hurry to go somewhere ... please no answers about how I need to "slow down" ... I know this, and I have).
I have received speeding tickets before (unfortunately), and they have always indicated the method used to determine my speed ... radar, pacing, etc. However, this ticket does not state anything anywhere about how my speed was determined. The space on the ticket where the officer is supposed to indicated this is completely blank with nothing written in and none of the boxes checked.
Can my ticket be thrown out because of this? Is this a solid defense against the ticket? (And please, no answers about how I'm a bad person or something for thinking about fighting a ticket). I'm just looking for some sound, valid traffic law advice. Thanks.
speeding ticket?
i have ontario driving license and i got a speeding ticket in north carolina. i want to pay it but one of my friends said that i dont have to pay because there is no connection between us and canadian records. i am not sure how far this is true. what if i get another ticket in another us state or what happens if i choose to move to north carolina or some other us state in near future???

pulled over in california because "sounded like i was speeding"?
I was pulling out of a parking spot and before i was even 20ft from my parking spot i was pulled over. the officer claims that i sounded like i was speeding. I have a lout car, but, i was in second gear. the speed limit was 45mph. I wasn't even close to going that speed. I got a ticket. my attorney says he could have it dropped for probable cause. Is it legal to pull someone over for that reason?

Hello, I received a ticket for speeding, i fought it via trial by declaration, lost the case. I went to the court today to see if i could still take traffic school. The clerk told me that i have to schedule a court date two months from today to ask the judge in person. from now until two months does my insurance go up since i lost the case? what if i AM allowed to take traffic school? will this just take the point of my record or will it also prevent my insurance from going up? Please give me all the info you might have. Thanks! Also, what if my insurance starts going up starting next month, if i am allowed traffic school, will this make my insurance go back down?
by the way, i am in southern california, and my insurance is Safeco. i have not had any previous accidents in the last 3 years or gone to traffic school in about 4 years

First Speeding Ticket Question?
Alright so this is my first speeding ticket and I have a few questions. Firstly, I was going 87 in a 65 and was wondering about how much I should expect for the fine. Also seeing how this is my first ticket in the 3 years I've had my license, is there a chance I could get it reduced if I got to court and how good are they? And lastly is there a way to push back the court date? It is just at a horrible time for me, I'd have to leave at like 4:30 AM just to get there and I have class that day.
What if the officer didn’t file my speeding ticket by the hearing date?
I got a speeding ticket a month ago and the ticket still hasn't been filed. My hearing date was today so I still mailed in the form to contest the ticket and get a court date.

The officer didn't even write the posted speed limit on my ticket and for some reason where he wrote my speed, he didn't use the carbon copy paper. Everywhere else he used the carbon copy and what he wrote on his copy transferred to the carbon copy. But, he wrote in actual pen on the carbon copy for just my speed. Does what I wrote even make sense? lol

How likely is it that a cop doesn't show up at court for a speeding ticket?
Do the cops show up most of the time? If they don't then the case gets thrown out right? And what happens if they do? Also, can they use information they recieved by calling a parent while being pulled over?
I forgot to pay a speeding ticket, need advice ASAP!!?
I found a speeding ticket just now that I didn't pay. (its 1 month over-due as of today). For the first court date, I went to court and had it set for trial. I then went to the trial date, the judge decided that the officer was right due to use of radar to clock my cars speed, and the judge gave me a paper that said "Ticket/fine cost of 0, must be paid by no later by 8am on August 20th. The fine must be paid in person or by mail by August 20th, and if unable to pay you must appear on this date to explain why you can't pay. If you do not pay and do not show up to explain why, a warrant for arrest will be issued and an additional 0 warrant fee would be added in addition to the ticket/fine cost, unless you had a valid/lawful reason why you didn't show up."
I completely forgot about it, but now that I know I want to take care of it and pay it ASAP. Two problems though... First is I wont have the full amount of the warrant cost + ticket cost until TUESDAY (so tomorrow), as that's when I get my paycheck. The other problem is I have a DMV hearing TODAY due to too many point violations on my license in a 12 month period(the hearing is not till later today though), and although it's unrelated to the actual city court-system as it's a DMV HEARING at the DMV, I'm pretty sure that when I go there, the DMV hearing officer will have to review my driving history/record/etc to decide if they will allow me to keep my license, and when they do, if that unpaid ticket has turned into a warrant (NO IDEA if it has or not, as I never got a letter saying I had a warrant, nor have I gotten any mail letter or phone-call from the court), then the DMV will be able to see that, and they'd might just call the authorties without me knowing while im there waiting and have me arrested + probably my license would be suspened for sure without even being able to have a hearing. It'd then look like I was trying to avoid/not pay the ticket, even though I WANT TO! The other option, is if I FIRST go to the city court-house instead when they open today, but I don't know if they'd arrest me at the court-house, (assuming I had a warrant for the unpaid ticket). Even though I WANT to pay it, and I know I made a mistake by forgetting about it but I want to pay it and clear it up ASAP, I just wonder if the judge if in a bad mood or something decided to have me arrested instead of letting me pay partial today, and the entire rest of it tomorrow.... I have no idea how it works or how harsh they can be about things like that.

how can i defend against the recent speeding ticket i got. i was 48 mph in 30 mph zone. I could not see the sign and was going with the flow. officer pulled my car and gave me the ticket no check was made in my car.

Now i had gotten a speeding ticket for going 57 in a 45. The officer told me to plead not guilty! So i did. He never showed up in court and the judge still without him there i had to plead guilty or not guilty. She was saying something was wrong with the way the officer wrote the ticket but i lost m copy so i couldnt remember what it said. Now i plead not guilty and she found me guilty and said she would let me off with no points and i had to pay 126 dollars! Now on my court paper it says i exceeded the limit by 5 miles and was found guilty. I dont think this was fair at all! I thought u could go 5 miles over so why did i get fined? and the officer didnt show up either. Is this allowed?
