Contest Speeding Tickets Archives

Contesting a speeding ticket by a speed gun?
There is no evidence except of the papers from the police station of the speed recorded and the owner of the car’s statement that he say he employed me and i had hes car.

I have never worked for the past year and i have never driven any vehicle i asked for any emplyment detail and insuarances of the vehicle which the owner doesnt have any to identify it was me. so without all that evidence do you think i can stand a chance. if they owner comes and as he says he employed me then he does nt produce details e.g the license photocopy, passport photocopy, vehicle insuarance.

the officer has no other evidence except that paper from the police station. it could be any1

I want to contest this speeding ticket I got. I was driving behind a cop, I was going a little fast MAX 70 I was going 75 but not over 80. I was behind the cop he switched lanes, I passed he turns his lights on says I was going 78. On the ticket he put appox 85+ but I asked him "You said you clocked me @78?" he mubbled something really fast about not going to court and that I can still do traffic school so it won’t affect my insurance. I can understand pulling me over for going 8 miles over the limit but to put 85 on the ticket?! This is my first speeding ticket but 8 miles and 15 miles is a big diffence to me and I don’t know how much the ticket is and the cop said under 0, should I just pay and do traffic school or should I go to court?
I looked up some information, I can get the price of the ticket reduced if I go to court, honestly I’m a student I can’t afford much and anything over 0 means I don’t get a full meal until next month. I don’t mind paying the ticket but seriously if 78 means paying 0 and 85 means paying 0 what would you honestly do.

So, I got pulled over doing 75 in a 35 zone on a motorcycle by a sheriff. It’s not like i was cruising at 75, i was going down hill so i gunned the throttle and let it go right away. I really can’t afford to pay the 0 ticket…its just too much infact i am making payments on a current ticket that i got a year ago for 80, doing 110 in a 70 zone. Is there anyyything i can do to either reduce my fine or possibly dismiss it.

Another one of my speeding tickets have been dismissed before because the cop never showed up. THat was the first time i went to court to contest my ticket. I have to pay my school tuition :( .

Thanks
Icast5: Thanks for understanding me lol :)

Rest of you guys, show some love. It’s not like you’ve never speeded before. Unless your too old, that’s another story. But hey, I love to speed I can’t help it. Oh well I guess i’ll manage to pay the fine some how. And speeding doesn’t always mean you are going to hurt or kill someone. As long as you have control of your vehicle you are fine. Screw all you haters.

I am a California resident in LA county. I got a ticket for speeding at around 80mph when the limit was 65. The cop pulled me over and asked for all the essentials. But i could not provide the proof of insurance even though it was in my glove compartment because the place was kinda messy. I found it after the cop left. Anyways, I got a ticket for speeding over 65 and no proof of insurance both marked non correctable. I know i can’t contest for speeding, but can I somehow fix no proof of insurance? If there is a way, what are the steps?

And if I can will I still get points on my license and/or pay the fee? Also can I request to face my accuser and if they are not present, will they drop it?

So I have a few questions regarding a speeding ticket that I received. I had gotten the speeding ticket on November 21st 2009.

That previous week I had gotten my wallet stolen so I had my license with me, but not in a wallet.

I explained to the officer that I had Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and I needed to use the restroom immediately and I coud not find my license (because it had fallen between my seats). I was willing to look for the license but the officer proceeded to ask me for my Name, date of birth, and address. He said that he would send me a ticket in the mail for 10mph over, and THATS IT. That was fine.

I went in on November 24th so that I could jus pay the fine, and be done with it. The clerk had said that there was nothing posted, and that the officer may not have filed the ticket yet. Okay…so I waited for the ticket which could be several weeks.

I waited and waited, and talked to a retired police officer, and he said that it coud take up to several weeks for a ticket to get sent in the mail.

Come January 11th, still no ticket but I received a notice stating that I have failed to appear for a court appearance on the 28th of December, and that I have a failure to appear, and my license will be supsended in 30 days unless I respond. I immediately go down there, to find out that I not only had a speeding ticket for 4, but another 4 unavailable license ticket, as well as a fine for late notice. So I filed for a hearing to contest the charges and penalties.

I have a hearing tomorrow, but will I be able to contest just each individual fine, or will it need to be just for ALL the charges?

I really feel like I got the crap end of the stick on this one, and I am not an irresponsible person when it comes to following up on scheduled court dates and fines, but I felt as if this was a VERY unneccessary/poor process for giving me a ticket.

What should I do?
I am in Washington state. I forgot to add that.
On the FTA status:

I had never agreed to appear in a court.

I had not gone in AT ALL and never received a ticket.

The Notice said that my account was delinqeuent, and I had charges that totalled 0.

On a ticket it usually says I have 1 days to respond, or I would automatically become guilty of the charge.

Apprently thats what happened. I never signed a document, nor did I schedule an actual hearing. Thats why I am so stumped on thei WHOLE thing.

I got a speeding ticket a month ago and the ticket still hasn’t been filed. My hearing date was today so I still mailed in the form to contest the ticket and get a court date.
Is the ticket still valid?
The officer didn’t even write the posted speed limit on my ticket and for some reason where he wrote my speed, he didn’t use the carbon copy paper. Everywhere else he used the carbon copy and what he wrote on his copy transferred to the carbon copy. But, he wrote in actual pen on the carbon copy for just my speed. Does what I wrote even make sense? lol

I live in Tucson, AZ

so i got a speeding ticket. the cop said i was doing 50 in a 25. but i was in a 30 zone and was doing 40mph i was followin a bunch of cars up the dang hill…just keepin up with traffic he gave me a ticket for 247$ also on the ticket he said i have red hair i dont and put the wrong exp. of my tabs down.. should i contest the ticket.. mostly because i know i was doing forty… and it was a 30 zone and not 25??

I was pulled over and was clocked doing 56 on a 40 zone. This is my first ticket ever, I am 31 years old. It seems that the officer didn’t like me since he put my speed 16 miles over the speed limit wherein, on his discretion, he can lower it down if he wanted to. I am driving a modified car and was even asked to pop the hood, he said he will let all my modifications slide but not my speeding.

I do not intend to fight the ticket since it will only cause more trouble in my opinion. What should I do? Should I wait for my court date before I settle this citation? Can I just go to court before the stated court date and pay/settle everything?

Say if I wait for the court date and try to contest the ticket, will it be worth it?

How much fine am I looking at if I plead guilty? How much does traffic school cost?

On the CODE AND SECTION part of the ticket it says 22350 and he wrote down the letter " L " as well and encircled it. What does the letter " L " mean?

I received a speeding ticket on the 14 freeway right before I-5. Now I admit (just between you and I) that i was going 70mph but NOT 86… what can i do? should or could i contest this ticket or have the fine lowered i am a single mother of a one year old, i am going to school(respiratory therapy btw), and i just don’t have 3 to pay. i do want to pay it all at once and attend traffic school. Can i explain to the judge my circumstance and have the fine lowered? also can i request a change of venue so i can go to the courthouse near my house? thanks!

BTW i HATE the 14 freeway! i was going 70 and still had people swerving around me as if i wasn’t going fast enough! just venting :-)
BOB T …. that’s what i was thinking too, because i asked him(the cop) how he knew for sure it was me like i said i was doing 70, i had my daughter and two year old sister in the car so i am NOT about to be speeding, you know? I asked him how he didnt know that it was the car next to me because traffic was very heavy, BUT he didn’t even answer me!

BTW does it matter what the highway is like? because i was coming down a hill as well?

i received a speeding ticket in sunnyvale, california. i got caught driving 50mph in a 30mph zone. my ticket states he caught me on radar gun. i asked around to see how i can get out of paying this ticket and the responses ive heard was that if i take it to trial and the cop that gave me the ticket does not show up, then im good to go. also if the cop is a rookie, they are required to show up. the cop that pulled me over was driving a POLICE SUV driving it alone giving me the notion that he definitely is not a rookie. I would like to know, if i were to take this to trial, are my chances of that cop not showing up good or bad. im 80% sure this is all about revenue for i was not even on the gas pedal at the time and i was just cruising my car down a hill on a green light. i see that cop every now and then patrolling the same area pulling over other unsuspecting drivers. the way i see it is that maybe he just gives out as many tickets as he can and the ones that have the balls to contest it gets away but the ones that dont end up paying and bringing in more revenue. I would like another opinion on this situation. Perhaps if anyone is a cop or a friend to a cop and would like to throw in their two cents, please do so. Thanks so much

I was pulled over for going 60 mph in a 45 mph zone. There was medium to heavy traffic. Clear day. I really don’t think that I was speeding, though. At least not that fast I usually run about 5 miles over the speed limit. I also don’t believe that the officer was at a complete stop when she took the reading. The device used was a radar machine. Should I go to court or pay the fine 5.

I traveled to Cleveland last Friday, and got a speeding ticket for going 76 in 65 mile zone. I live in maryland, and do not wish to drive 6 hours back to Cleveland to appear in court. I called the court, and they said the ticket is 170 dollars and i get two points. I want the points removed, and already sent them a letter stating my reasons. Is there any other way that I can remove my points, pay the ticket, and get over it? Someone said that if i don’t contest the ticket, and just pay the ticket, I don’t get the points on my driving record, is this true?

On the first day of my vacation I got a speeding ticket in Sarasota, FL. I live in another state, Connecticut and was driving a rental. Do I still have to pay it? The cop told me I could take an online driving safety course to avoid my insurance company from finding out. Can someone link me to the site I need to go to. If I lived there I would contest the ticket in court but since I’m leaving in a week I can’t.

I’m mad about the ticket because I feel like it was an honest mistake and the cop took advantage of me. I had no idea what the speed limit was or how fast I was going and wasn’t in a rush, just following the car in front of me. I was driving in an area I’ve never been in, at night, on a long straight road, without any houses, there were very few posted speed signs, my vision focused forward not at the signs, and my gps navigation said the speed limit was 55, and I was driving a new rental that went faster than my own car.

Btw, the ticket was 60 in a 45, and the fine 6.

i got a speed contest 23109a ticket it says i was going 70 on a 30mph zone but he didnt have a radar so the oficer assumed i was going 70 my question is for this do i have to pay 2 seprate fines or is it just one ?what i mean by 2 seprate fines is do i have to pay a fine for "going 70 mph" on a 35 mph zone and another fine for the speed contest?or is it just one whole thing?

add on:yes the cop did guess i was going 70 because the guy that got pulled over with me his ticket said he was going 50 and we where right next to each other
it was 35mph speed limit zone not 30mph sorry for the misconfusion

I am 16 which is the problem is there anyway a judge will lower my speeding ticket to a lesser amount??

This took place around quarter to 4 in the afternoon. I saw the flashing lights fr. far away but since I was coming down for a slight hill, I was trying hard to put on my brakes from 35 to 20 mph and the stupid camera caught me goin at 29 mph. I was on my way to class and was jus braking until it could get to 20.

My feeling is that I should jut pay for it – i’m driver in my 20’s and they’ll take advantage of that; I was in a school zone (even though school was done for the day)….what should I do? My only worry is that my insurance rates will go up. I’m not a bad driver and have never been in an accident. HELP
Also, I don’t want to deal with this. I feel that I would rather just pay it and get it over with. I hate these damn cameras…i’m not a bad driver and that one time i was rushing to class, it takes a picture

This won’t be on my record, right? Do i have to take classes? This is in Washington state btw
*** ALSO, one more question: I was driving my mom’s car (under her name), how can i change it and take her name of it and put mines?
This was in the afternoon when school was already dismissed. There weren’t any cars in the school parking lot as I passed by.

Can somebody please help me? I need an advise on what to do on a mistaken identity ticket. While I was driving home from school headed West on 50 Highway I got stopped wrongfully by a female officer, claiming that I was driving at 77 miles/hour. I actually had my car on cruise control at 70 miles/hr. I drive a silver Galant but the driver that actually was over speeding had a silver Honda. There was high traffic headed West and I am sure that probably made the officer confused. I explained to the officer that there there was a silver, 4-dr car that just cut in front of me dangerously but she insisted that I was the one. I am trying to see the best way I could defend myself in court because I am sure I will contest the ticket. I asked her if there was any camera record showing that I was the one over speeding and she said that there was none. She told me that in fact even if I was not doing 77 then I was speeding at 70. I have always thought that in the State of Missouri there is a provision that you could speed 5 mile/hr above the posted speed limit. Anyways, she gave me a ticket for doing 77. Is there hope for Justice out there?

i got a traffic ticket yesterday for speeding. I got another one 14 months back and completed traffic school . But in CA I cannot go to traffic school twice in 18months. Is there any way I can delay the ticket to go to record and complete the traffic school so that i don’t get it on my record ?
what are my best options?

I recently got a speeding ticket. However, the officer wroted down "60 + 65" under "Vehicle Speed" and "75" under "Zone." He is saying that I was driving 60-65 mph in a 75 mph zone, which is obviously not the case. He has it backwards. However, at the bottom of the ticket, he signed that the information above is true. I am going to contest the ticket in court, so what are the chances that the ticket will be dropped?

I live in WA if that helps at all and the cop that pulled me over was State Patrol. Thank you.

can contest the ticket on the counts that the medicine effected my ability to drive? i took it for the first time today, and i will never take it again. it had me shaking and sweatting like crazy and feeling like i was going to puke. the officer (lol, officer Dick) didnt listen to any of my excuses :(

Hoping something can be done after the fact. Foolish play on my part by pleading guilty, no contest to a speeding ticket in PA. For whatever reason it didn’t occur to me I’d be getting points on my license (first speeding ticket). Got a letter from the DMV saying I got 5 points on my license and if I get another one I’ll have to go to training classes to avoid suspension. This all happened over the course of the past 2-3 months. Is there anything I can do now or am I SOL?
I was going 72 in a 45 which was formerly a 55 mph road. I was very pleasant and polite with the state police officer. It was a Saturday morning at 8AM and while pulled over another car was pulled over 400 ft in front of me.

The officer made note of the fine but didn’t mention points to me and I’m aware this is my responsibility to research and not his to explain. 5 points seems extraordinary to me but being that I already plead guilty I don’t think there’s much to do. I’ll find some time to put a call into a call to the station.

I was going 80mph (traffic speed) on the I-5 South in California (speed limit 65mph). An Oceanside Police Department officer got on the freeway and pulled me over. I mentioned that I was just following traffic and he replied, "Then you’re just unlucky." I’m wondering if he can even give me a citation even though he’s not CHP, and also how my chances are if I want to contest the citation (given that he is not CHP and that i was following the general flow of traffic).

Thanks.

Should I just not pay it, pay it immediately, or contest it?

i don’t have time to attend my scheduled hearing and would like to contest the ticket since i have no previous infractions ever on my record. is it worth it to contest not in person?
ok, looks like i’ll make time for it. any idea what i should use as a valid argument to contest this?
