How much is a speeding ticket for going 85 in a 65 in California?
I was heading northbound on the 101 yesterday evening and got ticketed by a Santa Maria police officer for going 85 in a 65 zone. I have a good driving record what should I expect to pay and how does it work?
Driving Record Speeding Ticket Archives
If i plead not guilty and go to court and im found guilty for a speeding ticket do i still have a chance to go to traffic school and not have points in my driving record? I have never gotten a ticket before..
I live i california
I received a ticket in 2002 for speeding and for having a rejection sticker. I then fell ill and couldn’t drive for 5 years from 2002-2007. My license was suspended for non-payment of the ticket. But, I couldn’t drive so I didn’t care.
Now, since 8/2007, I’ve been able to drive and I went to the registry to pay the traffic ticket that was issued in 2002. If I go to get a copy of my driving record now, what will show up? Will it show that the ticket occured in 2002 or 2007?
I should point out that I’m from MA and my license was reinstated in 8/2007
TIA
I got a reckless driving ticket for speeding. He said I was going really fast and he had to go 90 to catch up to me which implies I was going under that. The speed limit was 50 and the lane I was in was clear with no intersections in the way. Yes, I was driving too fast, I feel so bad. Is there a way I can plea bargain or anything to reduce the reckless driving to careless driving? Or can I qualify for driving school or community service to lower the ticket or get it off my record? I just dont want to go to jail….
i have a few non moving violations (muffler). one speeding ticket, and one stop sign ticket (went to driving school for that one).
im tryin to get a job were it says clean driving record a must.
I got a speeding ticket for driving over 20 mph in Riverside County, Riverside, CA. Could anyone tell me how much I have to pay for the fine, and if I can remove the ticket from my record or not?
Hi, thank you in advance for your help on this one.
I drive a Dodge Charger 2008, I’m sure you know how easy is to drive at an insane speed on one of them. I was going to Orlando FL from MD when a traffic patrol stopped me just near to the border between VA and NC near the city of Emporia, the speed limit was at 65 MPH and the officer said I was going at 82 MPH, he gave me a ticket without an amount and ask me to go online and pay the fine, when I went back to MD, went online and saw my ticket and the word "infraction" on it, called the court and asked my fine, my fine is 1.00 which is alright to me, but then next day when I was ready to pay my fine online I realized they changed the word to "misdemeanor" I went online and search about this and found reckless driving (misdemeanor) in VA gives you 6 points and maybe 6 months in jail. I’m a resident of MD how this affects me and should I pay the fine or just go to court and what to do there, how serious is this for my clean record. Please help. Thanks.
I was driving from WA to CA and got a speeding ticket about halfway through oregon on 1-5. The cop said I was going 80 at a 60 area. The reason for me speeding was that I-5 kept switching from 65 to 60 mph. I must have mistakenly thought I was in a 65mph area. Also, I later noticed that the truck (not mine) speedometer is off by about 5mph… So while I thought I was going 75mph, I was actually going 80mph. So this is a combination of keeping up with traffic (I was going only a hair faster than traffic), loosing track of the speed limit, and my speedometer being off. Anyways. So I got a ticket, and I really can’t afford a ticket, much less the insurance premium hike up (I am unemployed and very poor right now). The whole reason we even drove those god-awful 1100 miles was to save money. I am more concerned with the ticket going on my record, as this will affect my insurance rate. Any suggestions on how I can reduce or eliminate this ticket? Any advice much appreciated. Thanks. PS. I am otherwise a good driver.
Im not making excuses, Im just being as thorough as possible for those actually interested in offering advice.
And the speedometer being off took me by surprise… Its not my car, so I had no idea. I mean, when he gave me the ticket I was kind of pissed, cuz when he pointed the laser gun at me, I immediately looked down and my speedometer was mid 70s… I assumed he had rounded up, but later on we drove past one of those "your speed is" and noticed that our speedometer was off by about 5 mph…
Got a letter from New Hampshire about not paying a speeding ticket I got there. I am licensed in Massachusetts. The letter has the address that is on my driver’s license, but now I use a PO box to receive my mail. When I respond to this letter I need to sign my name and write down my address.
Not trying to break any laws but I am curious if I put down my PO box as my address do you think it will increase the chances that my speeding ticket will never find its way to my Massachusetts driving record? Because the speeding ticket has my old address listed and the old address was the one entered into New Hampshire’s DMV computer system. Is it possible that because the ticket is associated with an old address the computers might get confused and not associate the ticket with me?
The date of birth on the letter is incorrect, how will that affect things? I hope there are not duplicate tickets filed on me (one with correct date of birth and one with incorrect one).
My boyfriend had a speeding ticket a few months ago that was dismissed later by court. After that he had an accident ticket that was dismissed, too.Recently, we realized that the two tickets are still on his driving record which causes a lot of problems with the insurance companies. Why these tickets are still on his record though they were dismissed? Is there any way that we can make them removed from the record?
This is taking place in Illinois

I plead "no contest" and I wanted to know how long it stays on my driving record? I did not get any points toward my license.
So i got pulled over for reckless driving … can someone with experience please help? …
I don’t have a bad driving record (got one ticket for not stopping properly at a stop sing a while ago … )
the state troop said it was going 91 on a 55 … and i have to appear in court and i might get jail time … but this is my 1st speeding ticket … does any one what will happen when I go to court?
Ok for real, no time for dumb answers!!
My driving record is not clean some speeding tickets and a reckless op, how bad will this hurt me in court for underaged consumption?????
Note: I don’t want dumb obvious answers like YOU ADMIT GUILT AND ITS GOOD GAME FROM THERE. If that’s what you want to write your wasting my time. I was going 81 on a 65 when i was really going around maybe 77 i think the police officer bumped me up into that bracket, cause their is a 16 over bracket. but besides that i live in california, and this is my first speeding ticket and will be my last as i did learn my lesson, i am a college student and insurance is going to cost me a lot. I already have done traffic school, for doing a rolling stop on a stop sign (14 months ago), so that option is closed for me, someone has informed me that if i dress up, go to court, and admit guilt but plea that it was stupid of me to go fast and to make that mistake , that i can request that this may not go on my driving record by me doing traffic school again. So I’m wondering is it possible to plea for this, and what are the chances that traffic courts in california will allow a college student to at least take traffic school to avoid havin this ticket on my record, i also have heard if he is even more kind, that the judge just might let me off with a warning, and since this is my 2nd ticket, I don’t have a raging driving record that shows that I am out of control.
i got two speeding tickets driving thru VA as i was moving cross country to TX (fyi, dont speed in VA this is how they may their money). i didnt have an address yet in TX so they used the one i just left. i am having all my mail fowarded from there but just got a place a couple of days ago. i have no intention of flying or driving back to VA to the court dates and i just missed them anyway. what is the liklihood of these tickets catching up to me if i dont pay them? i’m not into getting the points on my record. one was legit (yes, i was speeding), the other was bogus (i was going the same speed as everyone since i’m not stupid enough to try to get a ticket twice in their obvious triple-the-cop-on-the-hwy day) my license is from TX but is old and will have to be renewed in a couple of months. how much effort will they put in tracking me down? what happens if i get a ticket in texas? i havent got a ticket in 10 yrs and the few i’ve recieved in my life, i’ve paid right away.
I recently got a speeding ticket driving 98 mph in a 70 mph zone. The court appearance is mandatory. I was wondering since I have to show up in court if I can ask the judge to take traffic school and if there is a possibility they will let me. I’m 19 and it’s my first ticket ever, I have a clean record. I was cited for VC 22356(b). I know what I did was totally stupid. I will never do it again.
Yes, I know. My fine is around 0, but since I’m going to court is there a possibility the judge will allow me to take traffic school?
Hi I am Gary from Nevada.I received a traffic ticket for over speed driving. I would like to remove Nevada Traffic Ticket from my driving record and want to learn more safety driving tips. Can any one suggest me few online Nevada traffic schools where the course is offered for low prices.
i got a ticket about 2 months ago and i went to the court. they gave me 3 months supervision and not count this on my driving record. i got another ticket during my supervision period. what happens? so now they’re gonna count my 1st ticket? should I go to the court again and beg or should I take the traffic school? both tickets were about 15 miles over.
I just got a speeding ticket and I am trying to decide whether to pay the extra fee and go to traffic school to avoid it affecting my record. Does having one ticket on your record make a big difference for anything? Thanks. I’m in IL
OK heres my story, so i live in the Sunnyvale, California. lately cops have been on the hunt, and they sure got me twice, in two weeks. fml
i was on the beloved 101 freeway the first time, at around 3:40pm and i wasn’t paying much attention till i see a black car come out the carpool line and turn his lights on.
cop pulls me over, he was a young guy (he was pretty nice), goes, "eh i was going 80 when you passed me.. blah blah blah, I said i was sorry and he takes my stuff goes and comes back he said im doing you a favor and only wrote me down for 75 in 65 and tells me that my tail lights are illegal (blacked out), give me the ticket for speeding only and let me go.
So now like 2 weeks exactly later on memorial day on monday where we had a day off, it was nice a nice day, so me and my buddy headed to the beach to meet up with the others who were already there. it was 3:20pm and I was about to get into santa cruz after the windy ass highway 17 , on that last down hill before it branches out to highway 1, I get pulled over again.
This time it was a motorcycle cop who was hiding right behind a over pass, under it on his bike with his reader.
I Saw him with his reader in his hand aiming at all the incoming traffic and stared hitting the breaks, when I drove by him I had already slowed down and set the cruise control to 65 which is the limit. He took off from his little spot and I saw him stay back for a while then he deiced to catch up and once again turn his lights on to pull me over. This time he was a dick, just took my info and wrote me up for 81 in a 65, I had told him that I was just cruising down the hill not in gear (my car is manual), and he goes well thats another violation, but he didn’t write me up for it and let me go. But dam these cops another speeding ticket.
Now my question is this, since these tickets are in different counties, what are my options? Does anyone know Scotts Valley, CA rules and prices for speeding?
Remember that im 18 years old, I drive a 2009 Scion Tc, these are my only tickets since ive been 18.
how many points do we have on are records to start with? How many will these count for?
I haven’t gotton the letters yet, but if anyone could tell me how much this will cost, or if I should fight it or not, please help me out.
Im a collage student, and I hate cops! And having to pay so much its just not F***in fear!! WTF!!
The title really says it all. I’m 18, living in NC, and have a clean driving record other than a seat belt ticket that I paid off before the court date. I was clocked doing 88 in a 55 coming up behind an unmarked car that happened to be the sheriff, he was in the left lane and I had no idea it was an unmarked car so I tailgated him until he got over. Once I got ahead he pulled me over, needless to say he hated me and on top of that threatened to take me to jail. I’m getting a lawyer, but I don’t really know what to expect to come of this, so if anyone has some ideas I would appreciate it. Please no reprimanding "what you did was stupid" comments, I’m fully aware that it wasn’t one of my best choices. Thank you.

I am moving across the country and I was wondering if my driving record would follow me to my new state. I have a few old violations from 5+ years ago. Would these violations follow me since they are so old?
Also, I got a speeding ticket 2 years ago but I took the defensive driving course so that the ticket wouldn’t go on my record. Will that information transfer to my new license?
I have NY license. I got a masschusetts driving ticket was listed, (89-4A) unsafe lane change, (90-13a) no seatbeats, this charge was the only one that have assessment fee of , and (90/17) speeding 75mph in a 65 mph zone. The cop said the speeding was an warning. I only pay for all these charge. I want to know is there any points deducted? Is these violation going to stay in my driving record? Thanks for helping!!!
