i was pulling in2 my neighborhood and there were 2 police cars that had another car pulled over at the front of the complex. i live in florida so we have the move over law and i had to drive by slowly. so i drive by and pull into my spot, turn off my car, and get out like usual, when i see the cops who were at the front fly around the corner with no lights on, pass me, back up, and then put there lights on. he then proceeds to issue me a ticket for the move over violation and says that i was going more than 5mph and when i asked to see a radar that clocked my speed(the speed he said i was doing was "flying") , he then said ill give you a break and asked for my proof of registration which was on the plate and is valid, but i gave him my old papers for the year beforenot realizing it. im not concerned with the ticket for the registration, i have it but grabbed the wrong paper. did he have any right to begin to issue me a citation under my circumstances?
Florida Speeding Ticket Archives
I was driving home last night. I live in Florida if it matters. I was driving down Federal hwy & the speed limit is 45mph. Then it drops to 35mph. I saw a cop with no lights on sitting in a turn lane facing the opposite direction. It didnt bother me, cuz i was going just above 45mph. But, later down the road i saw lights behind me. He was posted IN FRONT of the 35mph zone & he wrote me a ticket saying i was going 48 in a 35. If he was posted in a 45mph zone, then how could he write me up for going 48 in a 35? I taking this guy to court & fighting it. Im taking pictures & making a little diagram for the judge. If the cop dosent show to court, then good. But, if he does then all hell is going to break loss!!!

Yes I was speeding in the 45mph zone, but that was only 3mph over. SO!!! They dont right tickets for going anything under 6mph over the speed limit.
i dont care if i was "speeding" 3mph over. I got a ticket citation guide, they dont give tickets to people going under 6mph over the limit. it starts at 6mph over which is .50
How would radar pick me up driving pass the vehicle? Does the radar spin & catch me going the other way too?

I recently attended a funeral out of state and received a speeding ticket in New Mexico, 87 in a 75. Now, today, I got another ticket. This time for an illegal u-turn. The sign was there but I never saw it honestly. I live in Florida. I know that i can get traffic school, but can I get it twice. Which is worse on your drivers license and insurance. I am also planning on moving to Chicago at the end of December. Will this make any difference on my drivers license or insurance?
My driver’s license was suspended about one year ago b/c I failed to pay a speeding ticket in the time allotted. That occurred in Florida, and I live in Alabama. Will this affect my going to truck driving school if that’s the only thing on my record for the past 3-5 years. I’m only 23 so there is nothing before that. I started driving at 18.
For the record. My license is no longer suspended. My license was suspended in April of 2008 and reinstated in July of 2008. I neglected to mention that earlier.
I have my court this week; I’ve been issued a warrant for my arrest for unpaid speeding ticket…since this isn’t my first unpaid ticket, can I be sentenced to jail in Florida? How much time? Thank you
I’m 19 and i have no criminal record; I have 3 unpaid tickets (40, 100, 350 to pay)
Consider that I can’t afford to pay…it’s very important to me to know how long will I be serving…thank you
Hi, I am a 17 year old male and I live in Florida I”ve had one previous ticket when I was 16 in November of 2008 for ignoring a street sign which I took the driving class for and got the points taken off. At the end of October of 2009 I was driving to a meeting for my schools student government association mandatory meeting and i got caught in a speed trap at the end of the month but it wasn’t a fair ticket at all. I was driving 46 in a 45 where I then crossed an intersection to a road where the speed limit is reduced after the McDonald’s to 25. The officer said before the intersection he clocked me at 46 and the speed limit is 45 then he then said he clocked me at 41 exiting the intersection which is before the McDonald’s and gave me a ticket for 41 in a 25 after he called my parents. The street where it is 25 is a cobblestone street and it is nearly impossible to speed and he clocked me just exiting the intersection and the speed limit hadn’t yet changed there was still about 200 yards. Is that fair or lawful that i got a ticket for not decelerating fast enough? It was a 0 ticket with 4 points and i can’t take the driving school because it has only been 11 months and not the 12 months in between tickets you need to take it again. Either way I don’t feel I’m at fault at all so I’m protesting it at court, I also can’t afford the points. I’ve talked to a few cops and they said if he shows and his equipment isn’t faulty he’ll win but I think I got the ticket just because it was the end of the month and they have to make there ticket quota. So my questions are is the speed limit posted on the sign valid for the entire road or just after you pass it like I assume and do I stand a chance of getting the points taken of or the ticket wiped away in court mid january? Since my first ticket i haven’t been speeding and I am a very good student and SGA vice-president. 10 Points to best qualified answer. Thank you for your time.
(live in Florida) The officer gave me a ticket for speeding and when i asked him what type of speed measuring device he had used he said Radar, but my radar detector did not alert me at all, and after he gave me the ticket and passed by me, my radar started alerting until he was out of site. I think he had just turned the radar on , and wasn’t using it before he ticketed me, their was 3 others in the car as well who witnessed it.
Also the officer did not check my registration, proof of insurance or my driving record, seems like he was just trying to fill his quota
I Live in NJ and Im wondering if the speeding ticket I got in FL will transfer to NJ
have a weird situation. I know not everybody is going to be nice and some people are going to say rude comments but I do ask if it could be limited. I was arrested in November for Grand Theft of the 3rd Degree. I was very low on money and my mind wasn’t in the right place. It’s a long story but to make it short my mom has some bonds of mine that she didn’t want me to have and use to catch up on bills. However, at the moment I didn’t see any other way to go except to get my bond. I had a key to my mother’s house so I went there and took my own bond. Well she called the cops and got me arrested for it. My court date is coming up and I was just wondering what I may be looking at in the state of Florida? I’m not a bad person, I’ve never had anything more than a speeding ticket my whole life. Any useful input would be appreciated, thank you very much.
I always had a key to her house that’s how I got in. I just wanted my own bond and she refused to give it to me. I should’ve actually called the cops on her and got my bond but I didn’t want it to get to that…apparently she did though.
My son and a friend were driving a car registered to me from Florida to California. Near Phoenix they had a camera flash and may have been speeding. Apparently the speed changes from 75 to 65 and 55 with little warning.
Now I know the friend was driving the car. I have no intention of turning the friend in as the driver. If I do receive the photo speeding ticket in the mail, being in Florida and never intending to ever go to Arizona, should I simply ignore any tickets I get from this incident? I have read that they must serve you the court date withing 120 days or it is thrown out. Doubtful they would bother with someone across the country?
Any Arizona resident in the know please help me out here…Thanks!
No I do not condone breaking the law. I also don’t approve of the state of Arizona allowing these speed traps on the interstates.
Our county once rebeled against ‘taxation without representation’. I rebel against ‘ticketing without the cop’

I live in Florida btw, this link helped me a little, but I am still unclear of everything: http://www.clerk-17th-flcourts.org/Clerkwebsite/BCCOC2/faqtraffic.aspx?#OptionsPayable
My ticket is from me hitting someone in a traffic jam, and the person I hit has no damage, it even says in the report that there is {content} damage. There is nothing that has to do with speeding. Under the moving violations, I would have to pay a fine of 5 if i choose option 1 or 2 (http://www.nationstrafficschool.com/toptions_eng.html). What i’m concerned about is when I go to court and say my case, what will determine whether i am guilty or not, and if i am will they change the fee and add points or something like that?
ironically, why i consider this option is because the traffic cop herself recommended it to me. I thought it was strange too that it was my fault, but I can still play it off I guess?
There was no other witnesses and passengers. I was driving and the lady I hit had no passengers. She was the one that went ahead to report it because she complained that I hit her so hard (at 5 mph lol) that she just had to report it.
I have a restricted license because it got suspended for 6 months for speeding tickets in NY. If I move to Florida will they give me one there?
I MEANT WILL THEY GIVE ME A RESTRICTED LICENSE IN FLORIDA?
I was convicted of 1 felony for felonious assault I hit another car with mine, it was 3 years ago and I now have one daughter and married so I’m a lot more aware of the consquences of everything I did and know it was wrong but should have never got a felony over it seems how it was my first offense ever even over a speeding ticket. I’m just wondering if anyone knows FOR SURE or almost positive if you can become a Vet Technician in the State of FL with a felony like mine? Thanks!
This takes place in florida.
my nieghbor an old man (75) is inside his house. They are 3 kids outside throwing rocks as they say the bushes of his house. The man claims they were actualy throwing them at his window and car.
The man goes out and slaps one of the kids in the face and tell the other if he was older he would slap him too.
The kids are less than 10 years old.
The man was arrested and put in jail for child abuse. The man has never had a speeding ticket let alone a felony.
now florida law says a person has the right to defend his property and his life. I remember there being a guy who shot a kid that door bell ditched a guy and got off scott free.
The only diffrence is that the guy shot him on the property and this took place on the street.
I dont know who is in fault here? is it the kids or the guy who slapped them?
If you have a Floriday DL and you get a ticket in California and it’s for exibition of speed and is a midemenor, does it get reported back to Florida and does Florida recognize it as a midemenor?
i have a friend who was picked up after being pulled over for a speeding ticket. he was taken into custody as a fugitive from justice from florida (friend has been a resident of virginia since 2004) and is being held w/o bond. i can’t get any further information via the facility where he’s being held, or the state of florida. he’s been stopped for speeding before (recently in February) and this fugitive crap has never, ever come up, and he’s never back to florida since he moved to VA.
how can i find out further information about this? any help would be appreciated.
Ok, so i got a speeding ticket a couple of months ago, and its due next week. I was planning on going to the clerk of courts tomorrow and paying it, but (and i have NO clue how this happened) I lost my ticket… I went online, and I got the citation number and all the information i could find about it, but I just want to be sure that i wont run into any problems when I go up there. I can NOT afford to have my license suspended! help please!!! ![]()
I’m an out-of-state student from Florida and I have no previous speeding tickets. I was taking my roommate to the airport when I made a wrong turn and, at this time, it was 7:22 and his flight was at 7:30. So the only way I could get him there on time was to speed. I was then pulled over going 94 in a 65 by a CHP officer. I was issued a 22349 (a) VC ticket with the description (65+mph, speeding). Now I am going to be responsible for the fine but my parents pay my car insurance. I don’t care if I have to pay a big chunk of money for the fine but I do not want the burden to fall on my parents and them to have to pay more for my insurance. Will I be eligible for traffic school based on the information I have told you? If not, can the judge make exceptions or is there no way around it. Also how much will the fine be?
I’ve been living in the Fort Lauderdale area in Florida for almost 5 months now, and before I lived in Michigan. While living there, I got 2 speeding (10 miles/hr over) tickets and paid them right away…but I got stuck with points in my driving record and I can’t get a decent insurance rate now. I’ve heard of a course that you can take to reduce/get rid of those points. Does anybody know about this course and if so, do they have it in south Florida?
Thanks!
My Wife got a speed Traffic Ticket 30 M. over in Orlando, FL How much the cost for this ticket and Can we get a littel Price without lost Points in her Driver Licens?
….you took one within the last year in Florida? I live in Palm Bay Fl and I got into an accident last year in April and took an online traffic class so I didnt get points on my liscence. Now I just got a speeding ticket. Can I take another traffic class? Also how many points is a speeding ticket for 6-9 mph. Thanks
I took mine online so I didnt get a card or anything…Mine was because of a accident…i hit a car crossing a 4 way. IDK tho..My ticket is due within 30 days.
I got a speeding ticket a couple of days ago in Florida. On going through the instructions, I saw that I can take defensive driving course, but it also says that the maximum number of times one can take defensive driving course is 5. I was a bit surprised, because I didn’t know such a rule existed regarding the number of times one can take defensive driving course. Is this correct, or is it true only for the state of Florida (where I got the ticket)? I live in Texas. I have taken defensive driving course once before more than two years ago when I used to live in California. Does taking another defensive driving course mean that I can take only three such courses in the future? Thanks.
I got two speeding tickets within twelve months, after which I was given a notice from the DMV that my license had been reduced to a business purposes only license. I have done some research but I cant seem to find any way to get out of the 12 month restriction, unless it was DUI related, and it is not. Currently I can only drive to and from school and work, nothing else. There has to be a way that I can either reduce the restriction period or remove it, but I am clueless and devastated. Please help.
Ok this is my very first ticket ever in life i was speeding 78 in a 45 i know fast i was wondering is there anyway that i can make this situation better like driving school or something can i get these points removed and can i stop my insurance from goin up I’m 19 and live in Lee county Florida
I got a speeding ticket in New Orleans, and I didnt realize until after I bought a plane ticket to Florida (which I leave for this Saturday) that I was to appear in traffic court on a specific date to pay for it. I went in the first time and didnt have the nearly 400 bucks on me so I asked for an extension. I have the cash, but I wonder if I can go in friday and pay for it?
