Online traffic school/defense course?

I have one speeding ticket from 7 months ago and I got another one last night, I found this site on my local DMV site that says it can help you keep points of my record, how does this work?

http://www.dmv.org/or-oregon/traffic-tic...

And will it be effective with keeping my insurance rates low?

What are the different cross-examination type questions? Especially ones you ask to defend yourself..?

I did want to be a lawyer a while ago, but have just lost interest in it. I'm a Philosophy major, so I'm naturally interested in questions, especially ones that I can direct toward certain persons in defense of myself--ones in which if the answerer stumbles or is caught off-guard, it can make myself look better.

I did this for the first time ever yesterday. It was a rush! I went to court to dispute an erroneous ticket for an insurance lapse (it never lapsed) I received during a traffic stop for going 10 mph over the speed limit. I also got a ticket for not having a NM state driver's license, as I still hold my CA one as vaild. After the police officer sitting next to me summed up that night to the judge, he (the judge) asked me why I was speeding and I gave a no BS answer. I admitted to speeding, as I was not there to dispute that. Then he looked at me and explained that it was time that I cross-examine the police officer that pulled me over. I was surprised and completely unprepared. But it turned out very well actually: my first question to him was "Did I not show you my California state driver's license?" I think the very wording of my question confused him. His response was an apology to the judge; he said something like "Oh yes, I forgot--your honor--that yes, he did show me CA identification..." (He forgot to mention that during his summation.)

Please don't answer with my stupid little traffic tickets in mind, rather-- answer my question above, please. I want to know all of the ways I can cross-examine someone who is presenting possibly case-damaging evidence against me. Examples I can think of: discrediting him (Do you have a speeding ticket quota per month? can you trust your instrument that said I was speeding?) Raising reasonable doubt: (It was late, officer, were you sleeping on the shoulder and then alerted when I passed--a 70+ mph difference in velocity can seem like much more.) Implying that he dislikes my character and would hence unnececesarily ticket me...these are only a few. I want to have extensive knowledge of this subject.

Thank you.

Do you think some women take advantage of being a woman?

A long time ago men where superior to women, and that has now changed, it's supposed to be equal now, but some men still get better jobs, but that's not what my question is about.

I was watching a show and a woman got pulled over by a police officer (male) and he charged her for speeding. It was as all caught, on the police camera at the front. She never got out the car, and he just gave her the ticket. She went to a police station the next day and claimed that he sexually assaulted her. They said if there was no camera to prove her wrong, he might have ended up in jail and lost his job.

If a woman starts beating a man, and he hits her back for self defense, she could call the police, show the mark, and the man will most likely get put into jail or charged.

Some women say men are stupid, arrogant, and rude, yet it's mostly men who are in Iraq fighting for our freedom, and most police officer and fire fighters are men. Women can do those jobs too, but still mostly men.
Some women expect a man to do everything for them, but when he does, she starts complaining that he is being too dominant. Equality means that EVERYONE has the same rights as each other no matter what the sex is, but some women (and yes men too, but right now I’m talking about women) don’t seem to understand that. What do you think? Are women taking the whole women’s rights thing a little too far?

And, yes I am a woman.

What can I do if I already paid a fine in excess of the maximum legal amount in California?

I live in Arizona and recently had a court date for a speeding ticket I received in California. According to the officer I violated V.C. 22348-B however, it was my first and only violation in that or any state. (I had never been pulled over or ticketed for anything before).

When I argued my defense and the validity of the ticket the judge made sarcastic remarks saying it didn't matter, even if I was going 99mph or less, and still assigned a fine of 3. However, upon researching the V.C. I found the maximum fine he can impose upon the first conviction of this is 0.

I paid the fine in full on that day but I believe the judge ruled unlawfully and the district attorney who was assigned to me (even when questioned) was negligent as neither made an attempt to adhere to the mentioned clause of the V.C. law. My question now is what can I do to possibly get my 3 back, or at least report the judge's blatant negligence?

"Upon a first conviction of a violation of this subdivision, by a fine of not to exceed five hundred dollars (0). The court may also suspend the privilege of the person to operate a motor vehicle for a period not to exceed 30 days pursuant to Section 13200.5. "

Can I avoid losing my driver’s license?

I am 18 in the state of GA, and yesterday I got a speeding ticket for 56 in a 25. In my defense, it was one of those with a ridiculously low limit that cops tend to exploit. But that's irrelevent. Fact is that I face losing my license as a speed more than 24 miles over will get me 4 tasty points! This is my first traffic offense, and I'm wondering: Is there any way that the court might not suspend my license? Anything I can do?

I have gotten a ticket for disobeying a red light in nyc. This is my first offense. What should I do?

I recently got a ticket for what the officer has said disobeying a steady red light. To me the light looked yellow then turned red when I was underneath it. I admit I was going a bit faster then the speed limit only because it was in the middle of the night and barely any cars out. The officer noticed but did not issue me a ticket for speeding. So this being my first offence in my almost 3 years of driving, what should I do? I reside in NYC.

My second question is that since I know if I plead guilty or I am found guilty the points will go on my license in which I will take a driver's defense course to remove the points. Only question is, even after taking the class and the points are removed, will my insurance still go up? My insurance company is Geico. Any help would be appreciated.

The officer never asked for my registration, just my liscense. Does this have any merit in my defense?

What do license pts mean for my insurance?

I got pulled over for speeding. However, the cop bumped down my ticket to disobeying traffic control device. I'm getting 2 points on my license. I'm 22 yrs. old and under my dad's insurance. Will the insurance rates be going up? (Also, I'm planning on taking the defense driving class to erase the 2 pts from license. If so, does my insurance still go up?) Please tell me of your situations....thanks!

Ok, then, if being hardworking is an affirmative defense?

then why did I not get a pass on my speeding ticket?

If being a hard worker is all you need to do to keep from having consequences when you break the law, why did I have to pay?
I am a very hard worker.
It's not a perfect comparison, no.
You can't tell I'm a hard worker when I get pulled over, but you can't tell if an Illegal was a hard worker when he gets deported, either.
Also, I don't commit federal felonies to pay my taxes.

and don't get it wrong, ALL ILLEGAL ALIENS are criminals, ESPECIALLY the ones who pay taxes, because they are saying that ID theft, the fastest growing crime in America, is A-OK.
I am hard worker too.

Where's my respect?
Oh, wait, I have to earn it.
What makes ILLEGAL aliens any different? I have no respect for criminals who can't accept the consequences of their actions.

Failure to control speed ticket. Able to win in court?

My husband was driving 30 mph in a 30mph zone. It was very foggy and slick and he was turning and he downshifted to second gear, braked, and his wheels locked up and he ended up sliding into the curb. The police officer wrote him up for "failure to control speed". He had several witnesses who saw him brake and slow down. Can he take this to court and win somehow? What would be his defense? Or would he be able to take a class so he doesn't get fined, have insurance rates go up, and have points added to his license? This is the state of Texas, by the way.

Is it possible for me to just call the court to see if I can get my points lowered?

I got a speeding ticket but the court is in another state. Cant I just call and see if I can get the ticket lowered or see if i can go to traffic school to get my points lowered or something instead of wasting my time driving all the way over there just to probably be found guilty and pay more money? And do I have a defense if I tell the judge that the guy right in front of me didnt have a rear license plate But the cop got me most likely just because he saw I wasn't from WI?

How do I beat a speeding ticket in Albany, NY?

I was pulled over yesterday in Albany, NY for going 20 miles over the speed limit on I-90 E. An officer caught me on radar going 85 mph, and I was issued a ticket for Speeding in Zone (VTL section 1180D). I now need to decide whether I will plead guilty or not. I'm from Rhode Island, so I need to determine whether it's worth trying to beat the ticket in Albany.

What are some good defenses I might be able to use or you have used before? I was involved in a hit-and-run in '08 (this was not brought to court) and another accident this year, both in RI, and this is my first citation for speeding. Is this worth fighting, or should I just please guilty? What kind of punishment may I face?

Los Angeles under 18 speeding ticket 90 in 65 zone = license suspension?

I got a ticket in June for speeding 90 on the 2 freeway south, a 65 speed limit zone. My chp officer writes his 0s like 6s so I can't tell if it really says 90 or 96 on my ticket. I've heard that if it was 20+ I would've been arrested, so I'm pretty sure that my officer wrote 90.

I'm under 18, so I went with my dad yesterday and requested a hearing. My judge told me I came a week early. I misread the 26 for a 20. Haha, go figure.

When I got the ticket I'd only had my car for 2 days so I wasn't totally familiar with the throttle response. Is this a possible defense?

There's a ~3 mile stretch of downhill on this freeway that a lot of people get written tickets on. I'm now one of them. I think I was shot with a radar gun, my ticket doesn't say. All I know is that I may have been speeding, but not 90. I ride this freeway everyday. I'm so used to it, I hardly ever look at my speedo. This isn't a defense, I just thought I'd mention it. I wouldn't even say this at my hearing because this is the last thing the judge would want to hear.

Since it's chp, my officer is sure to show. Could the judge choose to suspend my license for this? I've taken traffic school within 18 months of this ticket, but VC 41501(A) says the judge could allow me to take it again if I request it. Do you think the judge would say yes, or is this offense too severe (especially since I'm underage)?

Also, I'll be 18 in about 2 weeks after my hearing. If the judge does suspend my license, how long would it be for? Would it extend past my 18th birthday?

Looking forward to your feedback.

Btw, I love driving - for the fun of driving. I may drive a little fast sometimes, but I'm always courteous to other drivers and fully attentive. If I'm tired or spacey, I try to avoid driving at all. In fact, after this ticket, I've decided to reserve any sporty driving to passages outside the city, through twisty mountain roads. I think the safest roads are the ones that require the most attention. The highway can get sketchy because almost everyone just spaces out. This is completely off topic from my question, but people should realize that driving is literally putting your life into your own hands. Do you want those hands to be jovial and attentive or angry and lazy? My two cents.
edit: typo 25+ is considered reckless driving in LA
Over 90 is reckless driving, at least in LA, so I am right on the cusp
Everyone's entitled to their opinion

I got a Ticket for going 90 mph on the highway( 55mph limit ) Is my defense good??

when I go to court, and its my turn to talk, this is the short speech im gonna make:
your honor, Im not going to stand here and lie to you, i admit that I was speeding and I was going over the limit of the highway speed, i accept the responsibilities of that action, but the only thing i contest to , is the actual speed I was going, I know for a fact that at the time the officer pulled me over, I was going somewhere between 75 and 76 mph, certantly not 90....

(the officer didn ot have my speed on any sort of radar, he matched his speed with mine or somthing like that, a rough estimate)

Do you think the judge will give me a break and make me guilty for going 75 and lower the points or something like that?

My defense for my careless driving ticket Does it seem reasonable?

Well I don't feel I was careless maybe lacking experience driving in those conditions but not careless. I would say under 30mph which was the speed limit. The ice on that street was a major factor. I can't say for sure what speed I was driving I was more worried with safe driving. I keep my eyes on the road at all times. Not on the speedometer. I am also a young driver so I don't have the experience as much with driving in the winter. I know to slow down and take extra time but I know there was ice on that road. Even going low speeds with ice you could have a slide. If the ice had been remove like it should have been then this wouldn't have happened. It had snowed the night before but under that snow was ice which would have had to come at least one or two days before. So Because I feel I was being careful despite what happened I do not think I am guilty of careless driving.
I called the police right then and there to file a report and give the fences owner my insurance info. It wasn't really anyones fault it was an accident. Its not only the fine and paying the damages its about 2000 dollars in insurance that gets me. Its crazy! Other then that I have a clean record.
I think its just cause I hit a stop sign so they want to slam me with more then just the repair costs. I am not prepared to pay double or even triple insurance rates for 3 years. Of course no one was hurt and only a stop sign and a fence was damaged. But I'll probably be paying out thousands of dollars for this. Pointlessly I might add other then of course repair costs for the damaged property.

How should I handle this ticket?

I received a speeding ticket from a college cop the other day. It was my first one ever and I'm 22. She said I was going 32 in a 25. I had just stopped at a yield sign then she pulled me over so there was no way I could of sped up that fast and there were cars in front of me so for her to actually get me down the first street I was on would of be impossible from where she was sitting. Plus the street that I was driving down had been 35 since I have lived there and just like last week changed to 25 and I had no clue until she told me that this whole area is now 25. I know I can either plead not guilty, defensive driving or pay the bill. I just don't know which one. Do I have a good enough defense to plead not guilty. I had a passenger in the car with me and he said that it was stupid and there was no way I could of been speeding that much if any.
