I recieved a mandatory appearance speeding ticket, going 80mph in a 45mph zone, can a lawyer go instead?

I live in NY and received the ticket in NY. The officer said even if I wanted to plead guilty, I needed to show up in court. Can a lawyer do this instead?

How to get out of a reckless speeding ticket?

I was pulled by a state trooper going 79 in a 55. I've never had a ticket or been in an accident. I have to appear in court and am unsure if I need a lawyer or not. I've been told to plead not guilty, and was also told that if the police officer does not show up I can't be charged. What should I do?

If I go to court for a speeding ticket?

do I need a lawyer?

Because I'm still a minor and what-not I need to appear in court for every ticket I receive. I'm not going to fight the ticket, but do I need a lawyer.

In addition, the reason I wad driving 18 miles above the speed limit was b/c my grandpa just died and I found out only a couple hours before an I just wanted to get home right away from school.
Do I plead guilty with reason, or just guilty?

Speeding ticket in WI – should I hire my lawyer yet?

Had to appear in court and I plead not guilty. I have my pre-trial hearing on January 13th with the prosecutor and if we don't reach a deal I will have my trial on January 27th (unless I can get a continuance).

Should I hire my attorney yet or should I see if I can reach a deal with the prosecutor myself and save the money?

BTW, I will not "just pay the fine". This is America, it's up to them to prove me guilty. Not the other way around.
Attorney is 5 (flat fee)

Why would I need a lawyer for a failure to appear for speeding ticket with a clean driving record?

well, i was pulled over by a police officer and he told me my license was suspended due to the fta...he didn't arrest me? he said he could but he saw that i had a clean driving record and he could see that i never received the court notice because it was not sent to my address....and i informed him that the ticket didn't have a court date on it....that was my first ticket and i never received any notices for a court date......so ???? do you think it is still to keep me out of jail? and if so why would the officer let me go and why don't have a warrant for me.....???

PA speeding ticket 42 in a 25 mph zone, can I fight it and how?

I was in the company vehicle. It was the end of the day and I turned a corner and bam! The ticket says he clocked me with ENCADD which I don't know much about. I did not admit guilt when he asked and he didn't even ask for a signature on the ticket! I've heard that you can fight these tickets yourself without a lawyer. The best option is to reschedule the court date and hope the cop forgets, worse case I lose or maybe I get no points. What to do??

Speeding ticket in NC, best way to reduce it?

I received a speeding ticket in North Carolina for going 80 in a 65. The ticket is for 0, would I be better to just pay it, or use a Prayer For Judgment Continued, or get a lawyer? I don't want my insurance to go up. My previous driving record is clean. The ticket was in Davidson county.

Good Traffic Ticket or Speeding Ticket Lawyer in Vancouver?

Does anyone know a good lawyer in Vancouver that deals with traffic offenses like speeding?
The ticket was considered excessive speeding by 1km after a speed limit change from 80km/h to 60km/h which I missed. Also the ticket is 368 dollars plus 320 dollars for the next 3 years under the new ICBC DRP program
Also, I have only one other regular speeding ticket from 5 years ago. It takes only one excessive speeding ticket under the new ICBC DRP rules to charge you 320 dollars each year for the next 3 years.

Who do I hire to fight a speeding ticket?

I got a ticket in New York State. Lawyers will charge 0 just to plea bargain. Is there anyone out there who will work the system and ask for deferrals?
Is there anybody who wil charge for results? Paying flat fee even when they fail just doesn't feel "American".

Is the lawyer responsible for whether they apply court fees in a ticket court?

I recently got a speeding ticket and now i'm looking around for a good lawyer to represent me in court. Last ticket i got i had to pay for court fees and the total of that plus the lawyer came out to almost the actual ticket, so wuts the point? Does the quality of the lawyer affect whether you end up paying for court fees? or are they indipendent of that? Thanks.

Will a judge know about prior speeding tickets that were erased from my record by a lawyer?

I received a speeding ticket 1 year ago and had it dropped by using a lawyer. Now a year later I have gotten another one but am not getting a lawyer. Will the judge know if I have received another ticket even if its been erased? If the judge or DA asks if I have gotten any other tickets can I say no or is the risk of lying too much?

Reckless driving ticket in Virginia, should i hire a lawyer?

I recently got a ticket for reckless driving by way of speeding (86/55 i know i know, i don't speed anymore!) in Fairfax County Virginia, i have had one other speeding ticket this year but am otherwise a good driver. Should i hire a lawyer or represent myself in trying to get a lesser charge of simple speeding or improper driving? Also if i take a volunary driving course before the court date i will have +1 points on my license, should i take it or wait to see if they'll asign it as an alternative?

Hiring a attorney/lawyer for a speeding ticket?

I recently got pulled over for speeding at 56 on a 35 road. Since I went over 15 mph over the speed limit, I would have to appear in court. I've searched online and found that some people advise to hire a attorney/lawyer, so he/she can reduce the charge, and hopefully keep points off my license. I've never hired an attorney/lawyer for anything in my life. So I want to know if there's anything I should keep in mind while hiring one? Is there some etiquette? Is there something specific I should ask/check for when hiring a attorney/lawyer? I'm really sort of lost on how to approach this.
I didn't know where to post this question exactly, so I apologize if this is in the wrong section. I picked this one because it's the one they reccomended.

so i have court tomorrow for a speeding ticket and i want to get my self out instead of hiring a lawyer.. help

ok so i have like no money.
i was caught doing 79 in a 55 at 2am in the morning. it was late and i just wanted to get home and get into bed. the previous night i was on the highway where the speed limit is 70mph and after a couple nights of that you really get used to doing 70-80mph. going through all these small towns through inner state roads you can easily forget. so i need to know what exactly do lawyers say that is worth 0 that they make in less than 10 minutes. i need to know as i will be representing my self and will need to know my best plan of action. i have not had a speeding ticket in 3 years so i may ask for a PFJ. i'd rather not use that though as the chances of me getting another ticket in the next 3 years is high. what can i say so that i can get it dropped and not have this go on my insurance. the main thing is just making sure it does not affect my insurance premiums. that really is my main concern here. here's what i want to do. please help. i'm desperate.

How can I can get out of a speeding ticket if the police officer wrote down the wrong year of the ticket?

I was pulled over by a PA state cop for speeding. But looking closely on the ticket, the date that I "sped" is in correct. It says "08" instead of "07". So technically I wasn't speeding in 2008. Who do I talk to get this taken of? Preferably not a lawyer because I don't want to pay for anything.

What is the best approach to dealing with a speeding ticket?

I got a speeding ticket last week. It's so angering, b/c I'm always a careful driver and I was only 7 months away from having a crystal-clean perfect driving record, which would have drastically lowered my car insurance. I can't afford the increase in my insurance rates. I'm thinking of pleading not guilty, then when I get to court, quick change my plea to "guilty" if the cop negotiates a deal with me. By the way, I live in a PA suburb outside Philly.

Is this the best approach? What is the best way to handle this problem, without having my insurance rates go sky-high? Should I offer the judge to go to driving school in exchange for no points on my record?(Is this even an option?)I am willing to pay a higher fine if it means it will not have points to affect my driving record, since a higher fine will still probably be less money than the increase that my insurance rates will experience over the next 3yrs. What should I do? I don't think I can afford a lawyer...how much are they?
realnj97, that sounds like a good idea. I was thinking it would be like that, where I could get out of the points and insurance rate consequences if I pay a heftier fine. I wouldn't mind paying 0-400 more, because that'll end up being less $ than the increase in my insurance premiums over the next 3yrs!

To the others: Are you SURE that my rates won't go up for just one ticket? Almost 3yrs ago, I had a very small "accident"(scratched someone's car pulling out of a parking space). It costed 60 to repair, only b/c it was a new car(the damage was very minimal)...that is only above PA's legal cutoff for the accident damage that insurance co's can use against you. Yet they raised my rates 0/6-mo. period over a 3-yr time, that means I'm paying out 00 extra over 3yrs for an "accident" that costed less than that(only 60).So now you see my concern about the ins. rates.Oh and it was the only thing on my record, other than a 6-10mile-over-limit ticket from 3yrs ago.
To GuessWho: Sorry, but Geico is a no-no for me. Geico charges about 2.5X more than the rates that I'm paying currently with Travelers. Thanks for the suggestion though, but I always extensively shop around for car ins. rates every few months, and Travelers has always been the cheapest each time(although I really wish the rates would be lower). My rates aren't terrible, but they're far from good.
To the most recent poster: I don't normally speed. I was driving through on a main road that used to have a speed limit of 50mph but recently got reduced to 40mph. That's how I got slammed. I wasn't going 20mph over, so I guess that works good for me, but it was close to 20mph over.

What I meant by crystal clean record, is that the only other things on my record are a minor speeding ticket(6-10mph over) and a small accident( over the legal cut-off by what is defined as an "accident"...if the damage had been > less, it wouldn't have been used as a "claim" on my insurance reports). The ticket and accident are scheduled to "fall off" this fall, which will be the 3yr mark. (In PA, minor occurences affect your rates for 3yrs, but major occurences such as DUIs affect your rates for 5yrs)

Best way to handle a speeding ticket in North Carolina?

Wife recieved a speeding ticket for going 17 over in a 55mph zone in North Carolina. Officer told her her license in NC would be suspended and now has a mandatory court appearance. We live about 8 hours from NC. We are contemplating having a lawyer stand in. She is 28 and has never recieved a traffic ticket ever. I also heard you can send a letter in to the DA asking for a reduction to 9 over and they will often give the reduction along with a fine.

I need a good lawyer that can get me off a speeding ticket?

I have had several tickets. I will lose my job if I get another one. I was doing 98 mph in a 70 mph zone. It is in republic county kansas. I hope someone knows a quality lawyer that can make this ticket go away. I will lose my job and mabye my liscense if I cant get this fixed. I sold my z28 and I am buying a small 4 cyl car. Let me know if you know someone that can help.
I had a lawyer that would take care of any ticket I had 10 years ago. I have moved since then. So I know that a GOOD lawyer can take this matter in His hands and Make it go away. I have had it done before, but not in this area. There is a difference between a Good lawyer and a Lawyer. The difference is how hard they work. I want a hard working Guy that can get results. I know it is foolish to think I can point to a name in a phone book and get equal results as I would getting a refferal to an expierenced Lawyer. Money is no object. My job is important.

I got a huge speeding ticket in Columbia County, NC. It’s well 15 over the speed limit. What should I do?

So should I get a lawyer or not? The ticket doesn't say reckless driving it's just speeding. Would they declare that as reckless driving if it wasn't even on the ticket? I have to go to court and I have no option. I just need some advice...
