Speeding Ticket in VA — Tried in Absentia — What does this mean?
Yes, It was a foolish thing to do.. trust me, I know! But it totally slipped my mind until today! Then it dawned on me that I had gotten a speeding ticket way back before I got out of school. I looked for my ticket, but it was no where to be found. So I looked online for Virginia traffic violations, and it turns out I've missed my court date and prepaid date. Yikes! It says I've been "Tried in Absentia." Could anyone explain what this means, what's gonna happen to me, and what my next step should be?

Hey, I got a speeding ticket a coupe days ago (47 in a 30) and it says I have to mail the money order in with the ticket, and wait for them to mail my license back. Is it possible to go to the district (17 I think) and pay in person and get my license back from the district that day? Also, is it possible for a 17 year old to take traffic school online?

I'm a California resident who got a minor (under 10MPH) speeding ticket in Nevada. The Nevada Highway Patrol officer said I could take traffic school class online to keep the conviction off my record for insurance purposes. But do I need to bother, given that I got the ticket in Nevada and I'm registered in California? Thanks.

Speeding Ticket… How to safe my record?
My question is about the first speeding ticket I got. I was 15 miles over and I was really far away from home, so if I want to go to court it's almost impossible because it is really away from me. I can send the money for my ticket but the thing is that I don't want it to be in my record! Also I know smt about traffic school but I want to take it online and don't know how. i dont know much about canadian laws, Im an american and he's canadian and he got a speeding ticket last month and he said he had a court date on the 20th but thought it was the 28th and now its too late and neither of us know whats going to happen
all i know is down here the court date isnt required, well it wasnt for me all i did was traffic school online and pay the fine...

How do I beat a speeding ticket by trial by declaration? Any resources online or cases that have won?
I received a speeding tickets for going 97 ins a 65. I wwant to beat the ticket but I am goign to do it trial by declaration or meet the judge. THe truth is that I had to pee and I was trying to get to the nearest exit because there was a long stretch without one. I don't think this is a viable excuse to be let off for the ticket. Are there any existing reasons or excuses that have won for trial? anything I can do to prove that the officer was wrong? Any help or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

I got a Ticket for reckless driving earlier this month because i loss control of my car, and got into a accident.Later on in the month i got a ticket for speeding..( doing 64 in a 55 ). I was told you can only go to online school once a year, in order to eliminate the points going toward your licensece. Which ticket should i go to School for. This is in the state of FL. Paying old speeding ticket in Maine ?
I am from Massachusetts and have to pay a speeding ticket that I got on the highway a few months ago. I got a letter from the RMV and must pay by the 20th or they will revoke my license. I cant seem to find the ticket and want to pay online, is there way to retrieve my ticket number and pay online and get the required documents needed to show the Massachusetts RMV? If not where is the closest place to the MA border in Maine that I can go to take care of this. I don't remember what city I was in when I got pulled over because I was on the highway.

question about speeding ticket?
Okay this may be a little weird. About 4 months ago I was pulled over driving in NJ going 84 in a 65. I put in the ticket info online and no record was found, I called the police dept. and no record was found. the court date on the ticket was june first, but I didn't go b/c no one had record of it. To this day I haven't gotten any type of letter saying a failed to show in court. Did the cop just throw out the ticket? Lol I'm just confused on why this happened.
Speeding ticket and points?

I have referred to a few sites online regarding the question whether or not a speeding ticket in NY state would mean that the points would get transfered to a NJ Driver's License. They say there is a "chance" that the points will be reported to the home state but not definite. I also have colleagues and friends stating that points don't get transfered over. Is there a definite answer to this? Also, would insurance increase? I have a clean driving record to date. Thanks for any help in advance.

Hi everyone, i was given my very first speeding ticket for going 70 in a 55mph lane.The ticket says i have to do a mandatory court appearance. It's a 4 point ticket. My question is what do i have to do in order for this not to affect my insurance? I did some research and have read that i can ask to pay some sort of surchage along with the ticket and court fines so as not to have the points on my insurance. I read that this can be requested by first time offenders.Can anybody please clarify me on this? I also read i should be expecting some type of package in the mail, the officer didn't tell me this i just read it somewhere. Also can anyone explain to me the difference between speeding tickets you can pay online as opposed to having a mandatory court appearance speeding ticket? If I pay my warrant for speeding, how soon will I be able to get an approved passport?
Well, 2 years ago I got a speeding ticket. I checked online recently and the ticket has now turned into a warrant. I have to get a passport to go to Atlantis by Sept 1st, 2009. If I pay my fine then apply for first time passport, will it be approved? Or do I have to wait a certain amount of time for my warrant to clear??

i got pulled for speeding last night. normally, i just say "whatever" and pay my fine online. (my last ticket was over a year ago... for speeding as well.)
this time, though, i saw that the officer wrote "2/2/09" under "date of offense" and again under "arrest date."
should i contest this? i know that i was speeding, but i've heard that if an officer spells your name incorrectly or messes up something, that can be used to void the ticket.
the "adult" part of me just says to go ahead and pay, but my "younger side" still wants to try and have it overturned.

What happens if I get a speeding ticket, but I have no insurance?
I'm 17 and I just got pulled over yesterday for the first time for going 61 on a 45 and the cop asked me for my drivers license and who's car I was driving (because I have a VA license and I was driving a car with MD tags) and I gave him my license and told him how it was my uncles' car.
He gave me a summons for a court date on Nov.9th BUT the ticket is also prepay able. When I got home I realized that I don't have insurance. I was expecting on just paying my ticket online and that was that, but my friends said that won't do well.
Now I was thinking on asking my parents for insurance tomorrow without letting them now I got a ticket and then paying it online without my parents finding out.
I know I should tell them and I probably will, but I'm just wondering what would happen and what i should do?!?!?!
