How To Beat A Speeding Ticket Avoiding, Contesting and Beating Speeding Tickets

19Jan/103

What should I do if I got a speeding ticket (85mph in a 70 zone) in Indiana in a rental car from Illinois?

Should I just not pay it, pay it immediately, or contest it?

  1. If you look at your rental contract you will find a sentence stating that you are responsible for any and all moving and non-moving traffic violations. However you decide to play this out, you will end up paying the fine yourself or the rental company will charge it to your credit card if it ever comes back to them. .

  2. Genius, YOU got the speeding ticket. Not the car.
If you don’t pay it, they’ll issue a bench warrant and you’ll end up paying a lot more.

Grow up and take responsibility for your actions.

  3. Pay it immediately!

I’m assuming that the officer got your license number (client ID) when he wrote the ticket. Pay up or the Indiana DMV will send the information to your home state, and your driving privileges will be suspended.

The rental company will not be involved, since it was a moving violation.
