I got my first speeding ticket after 6 years of driving. going 50 in a 30. I know i am not getting out of it unless the officer does not show on the courtdate. What is the best way to postpone a courtday for a traffic violation for first time offender? ie. death in the family? sick? work? please help. Thanks!

Chances of the officer not showing are slim to none.
You may be allowed to adjourn the hearing, but the officer will probably still show.
A family emergency is usually a good reason to adjourn. No matter what reason you decide to use make sure it’s the truth. In the unlikely chance your asked to, you’ll need to be able to verify it.

Your best defense is to pay the fine. Your not going to beat it and putting it off will just prolong the inevitable.
