Your not going to lose your license for basic speed even if it’s 98 in a 55. If you need help talk to an attorney. It’s unlikely you’ll be able to defend that kind of speed in court best you can do is have it reduced and/or set up a payment plan with the court to pay the fine.

If you’re going to lose your license, it’s worth a shot. If not, then pay it and move on.

You’re looking at a very serious traffic offense. Most likely you’ll lose your license.

You were completely irresponsible in driving that fast. Don’t you think you need to ride the bus for a while? Seriously?
You can try to fight the ticket all you want but you don’t stand a chance.
Hopefully you will learn from this bad experience.

Have nothing to lose by going to court.

Did you have a valid reason/justification for having needed to go that fast (ie. medical emergency, etc)? If not, I don’t know how much help going to court will do. Unless there was some error in the ticket itself.
I don’t know if it’s the same where you are, but here in Ontario, the police are really strict on ‘street racing’ (their term, not mine, I don’t really understand how you can be racing by yourself), and so here, these types of tickets are seldom reduced. However it may be different where you are.

I would get a lawyer’s advice. usually initial consult is $40 or so. Well worth it if his representation of you in court would be viewed by the court that you are taking this seriously. Driver education and a fine might be given to you so you can keep your license, depending on what state you’re in. Good luck dude. You’re lucky you didn’t kill anyone, or yourself, driving such a reckless manner. (Not being judgemental, I’ve done it in my day. Good luck. Hopefully you’ll learn from your mistakes.)

first off why would you be driving 98 in a 55?? if you go to court i can promise you wont be able to get it reduced , the police clocked you with radar, its people like you that kill innocent drivers on the road, you deserve to lose your license !!!!!!!!!

Depending on where you live, going to court and opting to go to traffic school may allow you to negotiate a little. However, most likely will still have to pay the ticket (reduced maybe??)and may keep the license. Really depends a lot on the situation but first ticket, they may show you some mercy.

pay the ticket and stick to the speed limit.
January 10th, 2010 at 2:38 am
that’s almost 2 times the legal limit. I am glad my son wasn’t riding his bicycle anywhere near you. Please slow down for the safety of others!

Your biggest concern is perhaps points on your license and a huge increase in your insurance. Get a good local lawyer and see what can be done to reduce the speed, preferably to 64 – the courts like to have cases settle and if you have a clean record a lawyer who knows the players may well be able to make a deal.

2 things.
First a tip… "9 you’re fine; 10 you’re mine"
Second: Odds are that it is impossible for you to beat this ticket. But I suggest you get an attorney and at the time you received it you should have written down some details. Where was the officer shooting radar from? What was the weather like? What time of day? Traffic Congestion? and even have your attorney request logs of the last calibration of the machine.
Odds are you are screwed but those can always cause a reasonable doubt in a jury’s mind. And go to court because sometimes the officers won’t even show up.
