How To Beat A Speeding Ticket Avoiding, Contesting and Beating Speeding Tickets

Will my NJ speeding ticket points cause my car insurance to increase, as a resident of PA?

Will my NJ speeding ticket points cause my car insurance to increase, as a resident of PA? Also, I have read that the traffic points will not carry over to my PA license. Is this true? Please help!
I'm not disputing the fact that I did something wrong. I'm just trying to assess the damage.

  1. Typically, any ticket you get is reported to the DMV under your drivers license number. Insurance companies typically review motor vehicle reports once a year and if its there, depending on what type of citation you received, it will likely affect your rate.

  2. I think that is true, I'm not absolutely sure, I never got a ticket in Jersey. I did get one in Texas (I am from PA too). I also got one in New York and neither of those carried the points over.

  3. The points will be reported by NJ to your auto insurance provider, and it's really up to your provider's practices as to whether or not you'll see a rate increase because of it.

To suggest that the points won't be carried over to your PA license is optimistic at best. States are working more and more to share information at a much quicker pace, so the age-old idea that the points won't be reported to another state is a distant memory.

You got caught doing you weren't supposed to be doing. Accept the consequences and get on with your life.

  4. It shouldn't affect your insurance or points. I got a ticket in WV and it didn't affect my insurance or points in OH. I think that holds true for any two states.
