I got a speeding ticket by a state police trooper, but court appearance is NOT required. Will he show?
I mean, I’m going to show and fight for it, and try to get it amended down to a lesser charge, etc, but if the officer doesn’t show, does that mean that my charge could even get dismissed?
Thanks.
The court appearance is NOT required. Do they usually show for only ones that ARE required? or do they go alot? Especially state troopers?
I’m not very familiar with this. If anyone can educate me it would help.
Thanks!

If the officer does not show, then your ticket could be reduced or dropped depending on the severity of the charge or it may at the judges discretion be extended to another date.

Generally, he will not need to be there for the first court appearance. You will go that day, and plead not guilty. The judge will assign a trial date for you to come back. When you go on THAT day, it is almost a certainty that the trooper will be there. Going to court is part of his job; it’s also probably overtime.

I been through this many times sadly.. He wont show, from experience. If you fight it, it could get dismissed. Just kiss the judges ass lol.. I hate saying that, but its the truth.
