If going to traffic school is an option, then I would say that is your best choice. After completion, the violation will not go on your record.

Paying it would be a good idea to avoid further trouble

Go to traffic school. If not the ticket will go on your record. The ticket will push your insurance up $20-50 a month. Do the math that quickly becomes $200-600 a year for the next three years that that ticket will be on your record. Spend the money to go to traffic school, it will be much cheaper and better for you over time.

I don’t know where you live but here in Colorado if you get a ticket you can go to court and the D.A. will usually reduce the charge and fine. For instance, last summer I got caught driving on a suspended license, but when I went to court the D.A. reduced it to driving without an operators license (like I left it at home or something) I went from looking at a year in jail to a $60 fine. This keeps the courts less clogged up with so many people.

If you go to court with it and its your first ticket they will probably drop the charge to one that won’t go on your insurance. But not paying it won’t mean it won’t show up on your insurance. You are likely to get into more trouble by not paying.

Paying the ticket will go on your record and you have a chance of your insurance rate going up. Go to traffic school and it will not go on your record however this usually cost you more that the ticket but you save in the long run. Now if you want to fight the ticket then show up at court and if the Police Officer fails to show and the judge tries to reschedule you politely ask the judge to approach and request the case be dismissed. State you recieved no prior notification of a court day change and you missed work or school to come to court today. When the judge asks you how you plead say NOT GUILTY.

In the long run you are going to have to pay the ticket but if driving school keeps it off your record, then by all means go.

Paying it in full, will go on your driving record. Or hire a traffic ticket attorney, in most cases they can get it off your ticket and depending on where you live it’s only 75-100 dollars a ticket. If you just don’t pay it all, it will become a warrant and if you go to the DMV, get pulled over, get in an accident, or if a cop gets behind and decides to run your license plates you will go to jail for the unpaid ticket. Take care of it asap!!

Traffic school and paying the fine will keep the ticket from your insurance. If you fail to pay the citation fee, it will eventually go to warrant and once you are arrested and appear before the judge, it will still make its way to your insurance and the insurance will undoubtedly go up. Your best bet is pay the fine and go to traffic school…….and no more speeding.
