Well i have a 6 year perfect driving record behind me- i've never been pulled over (until today) and never caused an accident. I do not speed, and im not a reckless driver. This morning I got lost in another town and i was pulling onto a main road but there was a blind corner on one side...the sun was right in my eyes so that didnt help either. I pulled out to make a left turn and another car came out of nowhere going probably like 55mph. So i increased my speed because i accidentally cut them off and i didnt want them to hit me. I got pulled over, and of course the cop ignored the car behind me who was speeding in the first place. I got a 0 ticket for going 47 in a 30. Would you bother fighting this?
You should always fight it.
NO, I would pay the ticket and move on, for one thing it is your word against the police. Even though your explanation souds reasonable to you, the judge will not think so.
In addition, you will have to pay court costs, plus the time you loose from work going to court. If it is your first ticket in 6 years, pay the ticket and move on, life to too short, to be lost fighting lost causes such as this ticket.
you COULD, but you were clocked at almost 20 over in a 30 zone. no judge is going to take kindly to that. he/she will consider the possibility of children and pedestrians being present. i think the cop was pretty nice about your ticket. i’v been caught doing a lot less over the speed limit with a much higher ticket. but then again you’ve never had a ticket before. if your lucky you’ll get it reduced, but just because it was 17 over in a 30 makes it very debatable. hopefully you get a nice judge, otherwise your SOL.
