How To Beat A Speeding Ticket Avoiding, Contesting and Beating Speeding Tickets

14Dec/0924

Can you get a ticket for driving nine miles over the speed limit?

Technically, the ticket writes a person up for going ten mph over the speed limit. Is that too risky? Is five mph over the speed limit a good bet instead?

  1. Most generally, 5 mph over the speed limit is safe, you won’t get pulled over.
10 mph over the speed limit will get you a ticket. Even 6mph over might get you one.
Speed limits are their for a reason, try to obey them and you won’t have to worry.

  2. I’ve gotten a ticket for going 104 in a 65. Yes, you be be issued a ticket for going only 9 miles per hour over the speed limit

  3. You can get a ticket for going one mile over the speed limit, provided the officer giving the citation can back it up with solid evidence. However, a good lawyer can probably put doubt into the case by showing margin of error in whatever detection method the officer was using.

My advice? Don’t tempt fate, stick close to the limit.

  4. Yes you can get a ticket for going 1 mph over

  5. 5 over, you can usually get away with … 9 over is risky

  6. you can get a ticket for 1 mile over if the cop wants to give it to you.

  7. yes…..but it would mean really bad luck.

  8. Just do the safe thing

  9. You can even be written up for going 2 miles over the speed limit. Generally the rule of thumb is 7 mhp.

  10. if the cop feels like they will ticket you for 5 miles over

  11. Yes, you can. If a cop’s in a really pissy mood, he can get you for 5. I play it safe and keep the cruise control set to 4mph above speed limit.

  12. yes you can only go up to 5 miles over tha speed limit

  13. yes, you can in some states there are NO tollerances, especially when it comes to truck drivers, i got a ticket in California for doing 4 mph over the 55 mph speed limit, so yes it can happen

  14. yes, obviously you were speeding. I got a ticket in Pennsylvania, I was doing 74 on a 65…

  15. Yes you can.

  16. AFRAID SO HONEY

  17. You CAN be ticketed for going 1 mile an hour over the limit,
I’ve only ever heard of this happening to total jerks
who got stopped for something else that couldn’t be proved
but were so obnoxious the cop needed to ticket him for something. (Mind you the ticketed party, who told me this tale, is not always clear on reality vs. fantasy.)

5mph over is usually safe, unless you’re in a school zone
    where cops are more picky.

  18. Yes, you can. A lot of it depends on where you are though – some places (and perhaps some patrolmen) will grant you more leeway than others. I would be very careful going anything over the speed limit in a school zone.

  19. i have had a ticket for going 2 miles over the limit. it all depends on the cop that pulls you over and what he/she feels like at the time. drive carefully!

  20. yeah u can but the police have to notice you doing it first and that would be hard so dont worry bout it

  21. yes, you can.

  22. in most places 5 over is considered the margin for error for radar, speedometers and mathmatical computations of speed and will not result in a ticket, however I recommend driving the limit it is safer for you and others.

  23. in my state your allowed to do 74 in a 65.
we have photo radar on one of our freeways and it’s amazing how people just disregard it and drive completely ignorant when they have it cleary posted "photo radar enforced"

i think it might be risky going any faster-the saying "speed kills" is a reality.
but heck, going 5 miles over the speed limit is not going to get you busted, alot of people like to go with the flow of traffic.

  24. For what it costs in fines these days, is it worth it? After all, if you are in a hurry to get somewhere, wouldn’t it take you longer to get there if you are pulled over? If you are not, then why do you need to speed in the first place? My cousin is a capt. of his division and I grew up with the reverse phsychology that is used on all violaters…only you are NOT aware of it! They have the power to write or warn. Will it be your lucky day? I set cruise at the speed limit. I’m 51 and never had one ticket and have traveled this country as an osp engineer whe I definately see many miles of pavement! Drive safely! The police also resent out of staters that violate their laws.
