Cop messed up on the ticket?
I got a ticket the other day for speeding, and a few days later i get a letter from an attorney saying he would like to represent me in my D.U.I case. So i call the clerks office and they tell me that there was a mistake on the ticket the cop wrote that he wrote the wrong number and wrote me a D.U.I instead of a speeding ticket, and that they would change it right away. Is it worth goin to fight in court? Would i get out of the speeding ticket?

if you have the free time than challenge it, most of the time it will be reduced

Probably. Do it. It only takes up your time.

Depends on the judge. Some might toss it, most won’t.

A clerical error is not grounds for dismissal but if you meet with the prosecutor before the court date he might work out a deal with you.

It was a clerical error and it sounds like it has already been corrected so you don’t really have a gripe. You can bring this up at court but I doubt the judge will get bent out of shape about it.

Be lucky that they caught the mistake, and no. Does not mean you get out of the speeding ticket.
Nice try, though.

Sorry my friend, but a clerical error is usually not a grounds for ticket dismissal.
