How To Beat A Speeding Ticket Avoiding, Contesting and Beating Speeding Tickets

11Feb/103

what do i do when i go to court for my first speeding ticket?

according to the ticket i was going 61 in a 45 construction zone. i'm female, 21 in 2 days and reside in missouri.

so..my options are:

1) pay ticket 7.50, get points on record and deal with raised insurance
2) higher an attorney and pay about 0-0 for the attorney + court fees, and assuming i win i don't get points on record and my insurance doesn't get raised
OR
3) go to court...and??

from all the stories i heard, it seems like the first ticket they're pretty lenient about and will usually reduce it, or make you take a class and you wont get the points, etc, etc...so, if i do go to court how should i should i go about? could i just plead guilty, be courteous, explain myself and hope for the best? (could i ask for reduction, be on "probation", or waiver in exchange for taking classes)..or is that just dumb?

  1. If you got caught speeding in a construction zone, Missouri laws adds a $250 penalty to the original fine (if workers are present).

If this is true, a good option would be to go to court, hope the officer doesn’t show. If he doesn’t, then in most jurisdictions that is an automatic dismissal.

If he does, then there should be an option for traffic school or probation before adjudication. This usually means your insurance company doesn’t find out. However, this option might need to be selected before you go to trial. Call the court and ask them.

  2. None of this would have happened if you obeyed the Law. If you can’t pay gear up for lots of community service

  3. Pray that the cop wont show up. If he don’t, the judge will reschedule it. Pray the cop wont show up the second time. The judge will reschedule it again. If cop dont show up the third time, its dismissed.
