How To Beat A Speeding Ticket Avoiding, Contesting and Beating Speeding Tickets

31Oct/092

How can I find out how much my speeding ticket will cost? And is there other options besides paying it?

I just got a speeding ticket in MN for what the cop says was 71 in a 55. We were going opposite directions so I don't know how accurate that is. Is there a way to find out how much the ticket will be. Also, would going to court help reduce the fine or give me other options? What if I can't pay for it? Will I have a warrant just for having in sufficient funds or are there other options such as community service or jail time that I could just serve so I don't have to wait for a warrant then deal with it? Also, if I go to court do I need to worry about a lawyer? TY for the help.

  1. You need to go to the place that has the jurisdiction over your ticket- city court if it happened in the city limits, courthouse if it happened on a county road. when you get there, ask someone who you need to talk to about the ticket- Probably one of the assistant D.A.’s. You will then have to talk to his secretary. Tell her you would like to have the ticket reduced to an non- moving violation- she can help you if she will- Here’s a little secret- if you know anyone important . they can get the ticket fixed -you pay nothing- but if you are a common person such as I, you will have to pay it or at least a reduced portion of it. The rich do no pay traffic tickets.

  2. First no lawyer, that’s wasted money. Go to court and plead not guilty. They will set up a court date, you will have to pay bail on the ticket which is how much the ticket will cost you. Now you will go in front of the judge and the cop has to be there too. You tell the judge how fast you think you where going and then the cop ,if he shows up will tell the judge how he figured how fast you where going. If the judge finds you guilty, you can ask for traffic school or ask to be able to make payments on the ticket. don’t worry you will win. GOOD LUCK
