Relax. Pay the fine in court, rather than the mail. While in court, tell the judge how very sorry you are, and how very stupid you were for driving this fast. Ask him to reduce the violation to 20mph over the speed limit, in exchange for 40 hours of community service work. Should save your liscense.

Traffic school is online…
the reckless, verbal part may get you more in trouble.
38 miles over the normal speed limit and into the hundreds be prepared to pay the buck and your insurance might go up too. Put fighting traffic ticket in the search engine lots of sites there.

You are in a serious bucket of sh-t. You might have reduced the "problem" if you didn’t argue with the CHiP. Until you have seen your "day in court" there is no way of knowing what will be expected of you. For now, get some "emotional" help, this will be good in court.

It depends on the laws in your state. But, driving more than 30 mph over the speed limit is up to 5 pts. If you dont have any prior convictions, the judge could go easy on you (it didnt help me though–she was a b*tch). Anyhow, it looks like you have a reckless charge…which I’m assuming he means reckless driving–which is another component of driving 30 mph. Its some sort of way of trumping up the charges in my opinion. Anyhow, your license will be suspended for a few months. When the suspension time is up you can go and renew your license. The traffic school thing is usually recommended by a judge, in which case it will help you to remove the points placed on your license by motor vehicles. it is sometimes advised to go to traffic school before going to court. all in all, i would talk to an attorney if you have the money. because you will end up with points and your insurance will probably go up. good luck! and one more thing, if you cant afford an attorney…tell the judge you were late to pick up your kids or somebody else’s kids that works for some people.

In NYS this is regarded as reckless driving, an automatic revocation of your drivers license. As I remember you haven’t had your license very long when this happens your insurance is also dropped by your insurance company.

You’re going to be required to take your drivers test all over again and that isn’t the bad part. You’ll have reckless driving chained around your neck for up to five long yrs. That means your rates will go through the roof and start recording once you start driving again.

My best advise to you is get the very best traffic attorney ASAP and hope to he*l he can get the violation reduced before you go to trial. If you appear before a Judge plead not guilty and ask for a bill of particulars to give to your attorney. He will bargain with the DA’s office in the county the offense occurred to get the charge redused somewhat. Be prepared to spend $250.00 -$400.00 in lawyer fees plus paying the origional fine and court costs. Anything he can do for you will pay in the long run in insurance fees and possibly keep your wheels under you. If you do not get an attorney and get stopped again you’ll me riding in a taxi for a long time.

I should know as I walked once 42 yrs. ago for three speeding violations within an 18 month period of time.
