How To Beat A Speeding Ticket Avoiding, Contesting and Beating Speeding Tickets

1Jan/105

Has anyone paid $945 for a speeding ticket ever?

I got a traffic ticket in Ventura County (near Los Angeles) for speeding at 80 in a 66mph zone. I did not have my registration and inurance proof as well. However, I was SHOCKED to see the fine amount on my ticket..5! Is this realistic?? What are my options for this ticket?
Thanks for all those who answered. It turned out that the registration/insurance offense was correctable and the fine was waived, taking the total fine down to 0, which is not bad at all!

  1. If you can show reasonable doubt as to your guilt, then you could plead not guilty.

You could retain an attorney to try to talk to the prosecutor and work out a more favorable disposition.

Or you could plead guilty and hope the judge is more lenient than normal.

  2. Adding all three charges together, and yes, this is realistic. The insurance alone probably accounts for about 300-400.

Funny how CA would have a speed limit on a road of 66 mph?

  3. If you were actually speeding I dont know what option you would have. If you can show your registration and insurance proof you might be able to get a reprieve on this part of the fines. You dont have anything to lose by going to court and trying to cut a deal.

  4. GO TO COURT WITH PROOF OF YOUR REGISTRATION AND INSURANCE AND ALOT OF THE TIMES THOSE TICKETS WILL BE REDUCED OR EVEN DISMISSED. BUT THE SPEEDING TICKET IS A DIFFERENT STORY, SUCKS TO BE YOU.
    …….THIS IS MY OPINION………..

  5. Your options are to pay it or fight it. 945 for three violations is not outrageous. In my state, you could get up to six months in jail and $1000 for each one.
