I just got a speeding ticket in TX, If I take the Defensive Driving class, do I still pay the entire fine?

Do I pay the full fine? or just the court fees for defensive driving?

When you take defensive driving, you are agreeing to "deferred adjudication" which means that this ticket will be dropped after you complete the class and probation.

More than likely you will pay for the ticket and an extra $120 for deferred option.

Just the court fees and the cost of the course.

By taking Driving classes , you are not challenging the ticket , so obviously you have to pay the ENTIRE fine , the good thing is This ticket will be out of your Driving record once you finish the class….

Yes you do and you need to still serve some jail time. We do not believe in or will we ever do or allow, let a criminal off easy in the state of Texas. You need to suffer and big time for your crime against the state of Texas.

Dont just go and take the course unless you want to to drop you insurance rates or want to be a safer driver. Courts do not have to accept a defensive driving course in lieu of paying a ticket or jail time. They can, of course, accept it but its solely up to the court. If youd like them to consider it an option, when you go to court for the ticket, propose that as an option. They still may have you pay a portion of the ticket.

Basically, it would be grate to give you a one or the other answer but the only one they can do that will be the judge you see when you go to take care of the ticket.
