How To Beat A Speeding Ticket Avoiding, Contesting and Beating Speeding Tickets

Will the judge know if a cop has reduced the speed/fine on a speeding ticket?

Got a ticket going 80 in a 50 (back country road, no one on it). The cop reduced the speed to 59 in a 50. Will the judge realize that the cop has reduced the speed/fine? I had this happen long ago once before and somehow the judge knew and said since the cop had already given me a break, he wasn't going to. real nice guy. I just don't know how the judge knew...
thanks for your input guys. and whoa 's and d e', calm down. i didn't intend to speed in the first place. it happens occasionally to everyone. no need to call anyone an idiot.

i don't intend to just pay my fine because i will automatically get a point on my license and the insurance rate will go up. i'd rather take a chance that the cop won't show or plead guilty with an explanation and ask for pbj. you should NEVER just pay the fine, even if the cop reduced your speed. i'd prefer that he didn't anyway because it's just make the judge go harder on you. my last ticket was almost 3 years ago so i'm hoping he won't go too hard on me.

  1. When we turn in our citation, we attach a court information note to it. It details what occurred, our observations, and statements made. This is to refresh the citation writer’s memory and gives the judge an idea of the circumstances.

  2. Yep. Our judge knows. If I cut someone a break, I will put a star by the speed on the ticket and write the actual speed on the bottom

  3. Most cops reduce the speed a bit (not by as much as yours did) and judges realize this. You were lucky. I would just pay the ticket rather than go to court and add court costs to the fine. If you are required to appear in court, it tells me this is not your first (lately) violation and the judge will probably not be nice to you.

  4. Yes, its on the ticket and he gets copy of it. and if he doesn’t just tell him. and always say YES YOUR HONNOR

  5. PART OF THE SHARE GOES TO JUDGES ALSO

  6. We write it on the front or the back of the ticket.

Our tickets have a little box marked "R" if that is checked, that means the police reduced it.

  7. If I had been that officer and you showed up in court with that whiney arguement, I’d request the court to dismiss the current citation and inform the court that I would be filing a new complaint against you for 80 in a 50….

Now you can whine to the judge why you were 30 MPH over the posted limits….
