Will you get arrested if you have an unpaid speeding ticket?
I have a friend who got a speeding ticket over a year ago and thought her uncle paid it, but it never got paid. The fine is only 0, but she is terrified that if she even calls to get the address to send the money and how much is exactly due, they will track her down to arrest her. She knows for sure that’s it’s a bad situation already because her aunts a cop and checked her name privately and said there is a "warrant block". I don’t even know what that is. Any correct advise on what to do would be appreciated so I can help her calm down. Thanks!!
I forgot to mention that they didn’t give her a court date, they just wanted her to pay it. so it’s not like she didn’t appear in court.

if and when you get pulled over you’ll get arrested and will cost you more to get than $150.00 to get out of jail

yes she can. But most likely all she has to do is contact the court house and find out how to pay it ASAP. Once it is paid will be dismissed.
They don’t typically go to the trouble to track you down for a traffic citation, they just wait for you to get pulled over or have any other type of legal trouble.

When you receive a traffic ticket, you sign it at the bottom promising to appear in court.
If you fail to keep your promise, then a bench warrant is issued for your arrest.
They probably won’t come looking for you but if you do get pulled over again, you will go directly to jail, no questions asked.

Yes, And you can not renew your drivers lic with a unpaid ticket. And if you get stopped again they may just cuff you up and haul you right to jail. Good luck if you don’t pay it.

If the citaion didnt get paid then they suspended her drivers license and may have taken a warrent out for her arrest. They usually do not try and track down warrents for traffic violations but if she gets pulled over again they will arrest her. If she calls and pays all the fines (its going to be steep with the failure to appear in court fine and the cost to reinstate her license but they usually do not come pick up people for traffic violations)

Well, if the fine is only $150, then she just needs to pay this because, if she continues to drive and gets pulled over, she will be arrested.
Have her go down to the court personally to make sure that everything is taken care of.

It isn’t as bad as it could be. Yes she is going to be arrested but its okay. she needs to go in and turn herself in with somebody right there to bail her out. She can’t just pay the ticket anymore. they will take her bond money as payment on the ticket and give her another court date don’t let her miss this one.

If you do not show up for a court hearing or pay the ticket on time, the court will issue a bench warrant for your arrest for Failure to Appear. Your license may also be suspended. All you need to do is go to the court house and turn yourself in. They will have you appear before a judge. The Judge will probably just want the ticket paid in full plus costs. No jail time.

I imagine by now a bench warrant was issued and her liscense has been temporarily suspended. My wife says they may or may not come looking for her but if she is pulled over she will be arrested on the outstanding warrant and if her liscense was suspended she will have an additional charge of driving under suspension. She should go to the clerk of courts office immediately on the next day that traffic court is in session and take care of the ticket. She may be arrested temporarily but will not got to jail, just be taken immediatly in front of the judge. all she will have to do is plead guilty and most likely the warrant for failure to appear will be rescended and she can pay the fine at that time and all will be fine with her life. hope this helped. oh and by the way a warrant block is issued on her liscense so that if she needed to renew it the people at the liscense bureau would call the police to have her picked up and also they know not to issue her a liscense renewal.
also if your liscense was suspended you may have to pay a reinstatement fee to the state to get your liscense back.

the exact law will vary from state to state, but in VA, if you don’t pay, your license is automatically suspended untill you appear in court and explain to the judge why you didn’t pay, and get the fine paid. I don’t think you will get arrested, but you could certainly lose you license LONG TERM. pay the fine and get it over with…

Call the court clerk and get the information. She isn’t going to have the police come get you if you are going to pay the fine. Thats all they want is the money. I normally don’t go hunting down traffic warrants, but if it is a Sunday, and I am bored, I might go down the list and then look for that person. But usually we will get you on another traffic stop, and then drag you off to jail. Nothing like going to jail on a warrant for speeding, and receiving another speeding ticket to go with it. Its always better to just pay your tickets as soon as you can. Because it seems people always forget. Pay the fine, and you will be okay………

The answer to this is simple. Tell your friend to go down to the local court office and ask. Really, they aren’t monsters down there and will likely be happy to help straighten it out. However, make sure your friend has $150 cash with her and that she doesn’t drive there herself. It’s possible her driver’s licence is suspended for non-payment. I suggest that sooner is much better than later. Good luck!

Girl call your local municipal Bldg. ,and make payment arrangements.you could pay as little as $10-20 dollars a mo.But yeah! she can go to jail if she gets caught driving.

a warrent will eventually be made as it would be treated as an unpaid fine,,, eventually,,, so maybe she should offer to pay

Your friend needs to contact the court and see if there is a warrant for her arrest and then turn herself in make sure she at least has the 150.00 on her when she goes in, they may charge an additional court fee. Some states may suspend a drivers license for unpaid fines and fees.
