You should have gotten a photo of your vehicle with the driver visible. If the photo shows your friend and not you, then take it to court and show it to the judge, and explain that this is not you. In fact, there should be an area on the notice with a check box to state "I was not the driver at the time of this citation" or something similar to that. Speeding is a ticket on the *driver* not the vehicle, but with the camera tickets, the vehicle is how they try to track the driver. It will also help if you can show you were somewhere else at the time the picture was taken. May jurisdictions are throwing out radar camera tickets, because the people cited at subjected to an entirely different set of fines and penalties than they would have been had they been cited by a live cop. So, in essence, what I am saying is: fight the ticket. You will likely win.

In a court of law, your vehicle equals your responsibility. Show up to traffic court and enter your plea; explain the situation and bring any proof you have that it was not you driving the car. Once the ticket is taken care of you have the choice how you handle your friend; ask them to pay for the ticket, take them to small claims/civil court, etc.

Well, it’s your car and that means it is your responsibilty. If this friend has been unloyal or has sped in the past, you shouldn’t have let him/her borrow it. You could go about this by asking your friend to pay and if that doesn’t work, try going to court. If you loose the case, it looks like you’ll just have to pay the ticket yourself.

the photo should show not only the car, but the driver as well, at least a head shot. the citation is mailed to the registered owner, but if the photo shows someone else driving, well it isn’t you is it. that’s your defense.

IT WAS YOUR FRIEND THEREFORE YOU ARE INNOCENT
I KNOW IM USING CAPS, BUT LISTEN CAREFULLY
YOU CAN NOT BE CHARGED WITH SOMETHING UNLESS THEY PROVE IT IS YOU. THEREFORE PLEAD NOT GUILTY, AND YOU WIN

Your best bet is to contact the courts and ask them these questions. They are the ones who will process your ticket and will know all the laws and regulation. You should also ask the courts if you are allowed to take a driving school class. This will prevent your insurance from going up and points from being placed on your license. Just make sure you get the courts permission before doing so. If you don’t the courts will reject your driving school certificate. Good luck!
