Can you get a speeding ticket without being pulled over by police?
What are the ways to get a speeding ticket? How do the speed cameras work? A police officer can pull you over and give you a ticket, but is it also possible that a camera detects you and automatically mails you the ticket?
Thanks, I'm just curious ![]()

Yes – the speed camera will send you a ticket in the mail automatically – along with a photograph of your car. The speed camera system will sense the speed of an approaching vehicle and then use a flash photo to capture an image of the offending vehicle – the time and speed are also recorded. The license plate is then checked and a ticket sent to the registered owner or keeper of the vehicle. The only real way to fool it is to remove the license plates from the vehicle – obviously illegal and likely to attract more attention than it’s gonna save you – if you just slow down.

They mail you the ticket. I assume they get your license number and pull up your info.

yeah the cameras can pick it up and you get the ticket in the mail a few days later.

yes, this happens. it usually is posted that’s what they’re doing. i know on some hwys they use this technique. also, on some toll roads u can get a ticket because it times you from one toll booth to another to catch speeders

The speed cameras catch the person going beyond the speed limit, From the license plate a ticket will be mailed to the owner of the car by whichever department set the camera. The camera doesn’t automatically mail one a ticket.
