speeding violation in Kansas?
I was pulled over in Kansas (Overland Park) for speeding. The officer issued me a verbal, and I thought that was the end of it (I did not receive a summons to appear in court). about a month later i received a letter from the city saying that I had missed my court date (I had received nothing prior in the mail regarding this). I called the "Justice Center", who told me the officer turned in the ticket to them. The only option I saw was to plead not guilty because the officer had issued me a verbal warning and had never physically issued me a summons. Can he retroactively issue me a summons without notice after issuing a verbal warning, or do I not have anything to stand when it goes to court? I would think it highly unfair that the police could do such a thing.
Any insight would be appreciated, Thanks.

A police officer doesn’t even have to pull you over to issue you a citation.
While something like you describe sounds pretty unfortunate, I’d really hope that it was just a case of him not explaining something to you so you could understand it.
He can do what you’re saying he did, but I’ve never heard of it happening before.
