How To Beat A Speeding Ticket Avoiding, Contesting and Beating Speeding Tickets

Got my first speeding ticket? Have any of you ever got speeding tickets before?

Ok! So I am 22 years old and have been driving since I was 15 and I have never got a speeding ticket before until yesterday just because I always have my radar on but it wasn't on last night because I forgot to turn it back on. Anyways, I thought the speed limit was 55 and was going like 66 miles per hour according to the cops. I honestly usually do 70 and I haven't been in one automobile accident in the 7 years I've been driving. Turns out the speed limit was actually 50 which seems incredibly slow to be going on a free way. 50s is too damned slow to be driving on a freeway. what is the point of a freeway if we have to be stuck going in the 50s. I've done 70 in that area a hundred times and it's perfectly fine. Then I hate cops! It's not going to kill anybody if I'm going 10 or 15 miles over the speed limit. Anyways, so the cop pulls me over and got my first speeding ticket. I couldn't even see anything and it was dark out. Have you ever got a speeding ticket before?

I think I know of a near fool proof way to get out of a speeding ticket, would this work?

So the cop comes to your driver side window and asks what the rush is, and I just act frantic and say I have some kind of family emergency, someone in the hospital or something of that nature, I'm sure that 99 percent of cops would let you be on your way right? Foolproof? (and yes I know about the Texas cop and he got a serious demotion for it)

I got speeding ticket. It says Speed Approx=86, Max Sdp=65, Special = 66. What does that special indicate?

I was driving on 101 neat Santa Barbara, it was down the hill. Suddenly I saw a cops car and I applied breaks. I got the ticket and those are the details. I think I was driving around 80-85 before that. I was wondering should I contest or just pay ticket(0). If I need to contest, whats the best way? I live in San Diego

Need facts and statistics on police liadar(laser) handheld devices and my speeding ticket?

Aprroximatly A week and a half ago I was cited for 51mph in a 35 mph zone. It was 8pm at night on a clear night. My route of travel was I had exited a freeway in hawaii on my way to a military base. The only sign visible was a yellow caution sign at the beginning of the multi-lane exit stating 35mph on the right shoulder. After about a 1/4 of a mile of disecting ramps 3 inways come together and form a six lane roadway which people have to merge atleast three different times to make the right lane for about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile before splitting again for 2 different bases. The police were sitting at this split with 2 cars and about 6 to 7 officers. 2 cops were taking radar while everyone else was writing tickets presumably based on the info they were being fed. The ticket says that there two signs when in fact there was only 1 which said the words RAMP"above "35 mph". Second the ticket states a distance of 1065 which a presume is feet. My wife was sitting in the back. FIGHT IT

How likely is it that a cop doesn't show up at court for a speeding ticket?

Do the cops show up most of the time? If they don't then the case gets thrown out right? And what happens if they do? Also, can they use information they recieved by calling a parent while being pulled over?

NEED HELP… SPEEDING TICKET, COURT…ahhh!?

SO... I got pulled over last night trying to beat my curfew. It was like 2minutes from my house and there was no traffic. I got a ticket for doing a 77 in a 45. Yea, thot it was a 55 and that I was doing 70 but it doesn't matter does it?? So i have a court date the 17th of march. Is there anyway I can get out of this? I got my license 6months ago. Never been pulled over before or got into an accident and I never speed. This was the only time, and I got caught!!! I'm responsible, I just can't wait another 9months til I'm 18 to get my license again, really, my bf lives like 30min away and he's already upset we can barely see eachother. Please help. My dad talked to a cop thats his friends and said if I was 18 I could have been in serious trouble. He thinks my license will be taken away til I'm 18, and I'll be doing community service, and on a 2year probation!!! WTF?? 77 in a 45 is 22 miles over the speed limit, but I swear I was doin 70, which is below 20?? does that make a difference?? What do I say and do in court? How do I act, play dumb and plead guilty??
ahh, did i mention that there were two cops and that means two witnesses soooo its guaranteed one of them will show up in court!!

What kind of community service?
Does this effect my insurance??
i wasnt driving under the influence or anything like that... it's just that 20 miles over is concidered a felony here

Hi a cop set me up an gave me ticket a speeding ticket?

Hi I got a ticket speeding ticket from a cop last night.I was driving and before he even saw my car he walked in the middle of the street and waved a lit stick and told me to pull over.I asked the cop what I did wrong he said I was going 51 in a 35 mile hr zone.I thought back to when the cop stood in from of my car from a distance and waved the lit stick for me to slow down.I slowed down right away and I was only going the speed limit cuz I slowed down too easy so I knew I wasn't speeding. He wrote me a ticket for 151.00 and it said on the citation that the cop didn't use radar to detect my speed.
So this cop obviously was setting me up to make money for giving me a ticket. What can I do about this?
On my ticket he said he didn't use radar but another kind of equipment with a serial # on my ticket.Do cops use any other equipment besides radar to detect speeding?

Would speeding past a cop while under the speed limit get you a ticket?

The other day I was at the intersection red light pulled next to a cop. When the light turned green I was tempted to speed up to 45 mph quicker than him (not over 45). I wouldn't spin the tires but I would have just accelerated past him.

Would this get me a ticket? Alot of people drive so slow around cops and even when you are going the speed limit the cops tailgate you it's annoying

can a cop give me a ticket when on pvt prop, when im out of car, and he didnt approach with lights on?

i was pulling in2 my neighborhood and there were 2 police cars that had another car pulled over at the front of the complex. i live in florida so we have the move over law and i had to drive by slowly. so i drive by and pull into my spot, turn off my car, and get out like usual, when i see the cops who were at the front fly around the corner with no lights on, pass me, back up, and then put there lights on. he then proceeds to issue me a ticket for the move over violation and says that i was going more than 5mph and when i asked to see a radar that clocked my speed(the speed he said i was doing was "flying") , he then said ill give you a break and asked for my proof of registration which was on the plate and is valid, but i gave him my old papers for the year beforenot realizing it. im not concerned with the ticket for the registration, i have it but grabbed the wrong paper. did he have any right to begin to issue me a citation under my circumstances?

Can you get a ticket for having a laser radar in your vehicle?

So I've gotten a couple of tickets in the last 1 year. I don't speed anymore ;-) However, is having a laser detector/radar legal? A few of my friends have it and they've not gotten into trouble just for having that. So we were at Denny's at 5 am last night and a few cops came. So we asked them. They weren't sure! They said I should check with the court...

can a cop give a speeding ticket without radar/stop sign ticket?

I was driving and stopped at a stop sign. as a cop was coming around a sharp, curve I pulled out then I get stopped. he goes you know why I am stopping I go no.
He goes you rolled threw the stop sign. I also paced you 38 mph up the hill. I said I don't know how my speedo said 30 mph.

I was wondering how can he see me stop at a stop sign, when it's dark out as I am going he is to the left of me 150yds back coming around a curve as I am taking off from the stop sign.

in his eyes it looked like I rolled threw it. as he was coming around a sharp curve I was taking off.

also there is noway the cop could tell if I stopped or not, the spot where he was coming around the curve there where cars in the lot plus some big ever greens and a sign, that blocks the intersection.

Speeding ticket help at court.?

Hi, I am a 17 year old male and I live in Florida I''ve had one previous ticket when I was 16 in November of 2008 for ignoring a street sign which I took the driving class for and got the points taken off. At the end of October of 2009 I was driving to a meeting for my schools student government association mandatory meeting and i got caught in a speed trap at the end of the month but it wasn't a fair ticket at all. I was driving 46 in a 45 where I then crossed an intersection to a road where the speed limit is reduced after the McDonald's to 25. The officer said before the intersection he clocked me at 46 and the speed limit is 45 then he then said he clocked me at 41 exiting the intersection which is before the McDonald's and gave me a ticket for 41 in a 25 after he called my parents. The street where it is 25 is a cobblestone street and it is nearly impossible to speed and he clocked me just exiting the intersection and the speed limit hadn't yet changed there was still about 200 yards. Is that fair or lawful that i got a ticket for not decelerating fast enough? It was a 0 ticket with 4 points and i can't take the driving school because it has only been 11 months and not the 12 months in between tickets you need to take it again. Either way I don't feel I'm at fault at all so I'm protesting it at court, I also can't afford the points. I've talked to a few cops and they said if he shows and his equipment isn't faulty he'll win but I think I got the ticket just because it was the end of the month and they have to make there ticket quota. So my questions are is the speed limit posted on the sign valid for the entire road or just after you pass it like I assume and do I stand a chance of getting the points taken of or the ticket wiped away in court mid january? Since my first ticket i haven't been speeding and I am a very good student and SGA vice-president. 10 Points to best qualified answer. Thank you for your time.

How are speeding laws enforced in general, by radar or seeing you going faster than the other guy?

I don't want a ticket and try to obey the speeding laws. But say you are going down the highway at the proper speed limit, and everyone else is going faster than you, do I go the speed limit and become a hazard for everyone else behind me or go with the flow.
Do cops detect if your speeding by radar or by how fast you are going in comparison to the rest of traffic?
I live in Utah if that helps
Thanx

What will I be getting in Florida for Grand Theft of the 3rd Degree?

have a weird situation. I know not everybody is going to be nice and some people are going to say rude comments but I do ask if it could be limited. I was arrested in November for Grand Theft of the 3rd Degree. I was very low on money and my mind wasn't in the right place. It's a long story but to make it short my mom has some bonds of mine that she didn't want me to have and use to catch up on bills. However, at the moment I didn't see any other way to go except to get my bond. I had a key to my mother's house so I went there and took my own bond. Well she called the cops and got me arrested for it. My court date is coming up and I was just wondering what I may be looking at in the state of Florida? I'm not a bad person, I've never had anything more than a speeding ticket my whole life. Any useful input would be appreciated, thank you very much.
I always had a key to her house that's how I got in. I just wanted my own bond and she refused to give it to me. I should've actually called the cops on her and got my bond but I didn't want it to get to that...apparently she did though.

speeding ticket while test driving a new car????

I got a speeding tkt while test driving the new subaru forester. the cop said I was doing 44 on a 25mph zone. My question is can I go to court and contest this ticket? or just pay the fine and charge it to experience?
I have no idea that the cops can pull you over while test driving a car. We had the dealers plate hanging too.
Need your inputs and comments
Thanks!

Why do police officers hide in strange places to catch people speeding?

I thought the point of having law enforcement was to ensure that people obey the law and promote public safety; not hide like ninjas with radar guns and bag people who go over the speed limit. Wouldn't it make sense to have the cop in the open? I know if I see a cop in the open, I would slow down automatically. Getting a ticket doesn't make me learn my lesson. It just makes people hate cops. What do you think?
Why would you slow down randomly? They hide. So unless you drive the speed limit all the time, you will eventually get bagged. If they stay in the open, people will see them and will slow down, in fear of getting caught.
Unless you're saying you think every place is a suspected place where a cop could be, so you drive around under speed limit all the time. Then good for you.
I don't consider going 40 in a 30 being unreasonable. Those are the kind of tickets I get, even though cops themselves speed when they are off duty.
The point is I don't know I'm being targeted because the cop is hiding behind a bush. Going 40 in a 30 is not unreasonable. Many people do it; especially early morning when no cars are on the road and I'm going to work.

How can I get the speed limits raised in my city?

I just moved to a new city and the speed limits are driving me nuts. The speed limit drops 10mph on any road when you hit the city limits coming in. I feel like I'm living in a speed trap. (In fact, there are regularly cops posted along the road I live off from, which is near the edge of town.) I just don't see the point in the speed drop. The roads don't magically become less safe when you cross that imaginary line into our town. Anyway, I'd like to find out who is in charge of setting the speed limits and how I can make my case to them.

Speed Limit Laws question?

Speed Limit Laws question?
Cops in Tennessee are absolutely disgusting--they purposely create speed traps that are confusing and unfair in order to rob money from hard working people. To be honest, the uncertainity in the error between my speedometer, and their radar gun probably exploits this "speed trap" even further (I have evidence to back it up).

That said, my question relates to the beginning and ending of speed limit zones. If it is true that if you are on a road that's speed limit is 45 mph, and it later drops down to 30 mph that the new speed limit takees affect after you pass the sign? Presuming that this is true, if you change roads and have not seen a posted speed limit sign can you keep on going to on the same speed that you were on the previous road because a speed limit only takes affect when you pass the sign?
That is a good answer, but does this mean that speed limits on roads are not actually the speed limit until the sign is posted? Does the understood speed limit exist until the posted speed limit? Not in practice but by definition of the law.

Are cops allowed to be on the side of the road with no lights on at night?

I got a ticket in Athens, GA coming home from work, the cops was at the bottom of a hill and at 10:45pm at night with no lights on! Isn't that illegal for them to be at the bottom of the hill and especially with no lights at night? I thought it was state law that anytime a car is occupied at night along a hwy or street, there should be parking or marking lights on, or hazards. I am just building my case to fight the speed trap!

How would one speeding ticket affect my insurance?

I just got my first speeding ticket yesterday... Going 48 on a 35 speed limit. My question is, will that raise my insurance rate at all? I use State Farm and live in Minnesota. Car is insured under my dad's name and I'm 20. Also, I've had two other tickets before: the first one was for not moving away from emergency vehicle (I was driving on the lane next to two cops while they were pulling someone over) and the second one was a moving violation ("swerving" too much due to my poor vision).
The first one was three years ago.. The moving violation and speeding was this year. But I've heard someone told me that the first two won't go on my record because they were 'minor' violations?

Speeding Ticket Technicality?

Today, I was in traffic court for my first speeding ticket from back in October. After having that handled, and luckily reduced to 65 in a 55mph, I was fortunate enough to get my second speeding ticket today.

As for today's ticket, I was on the road that I live off of, which rarely has cops on it.(very very rarely) and was pulled over for going 51 in a 35mph speed limit. The officer was somewhat reasonable, and marked my charge down as "Driving vehicle at Safe Speed". I dont know how or why that matters, or why he acted like that was giving me a break, cause he still put me down for 51 in a 35.

Do you guys know why thats better than the "maximum speed limits" or "careless driving" charges??

Anyways, my main concern was, on the ticket, where the officer would mark HOW he clocked my speed i.e. "Radar", "Clocked", "Vascar" etc....he didn't check any of the boxes. Nor did he fill in any of the info on the bottom of the ticket, regarding the same things. He left blank the "Speed Timing Device Operator", "Date Equip Tested", "Speed Equip Serial No." boxes.

Would this leave me with any technicalities I could use to weasel my way out of this ticket??

Yes, I was speeding, and caught, again, I know. I really would rather not put my parent's insurance rates through the roof, cause I was going 16mph over the very low speed limit. They aren't the ones that should deal w/ the most expensive of the consequences.
One thing I forgot to add was, even though the cop marked no speed measuring device, he said that he had radar'd me. Does that change anything or would the 'my word against his' argument still suffice?
