I was falling 2 auto a white 1 and a red 1. Cop turnes his lights on b4 he got 2 the 1st auto. So, I am just falling them about 5 car leighs behind the 2nd. 1. I see the cop is behind me so I am getting over thinking he is going 2 stop the #2 car 4 falling 2 close. He pulls in behind me and ask me 2 c my dl and ask me about my grandson sitting next 2 me say’n he was standing up (which he was in a car seat) and I told him he was. He said it look like he was standing. So, he as 4 my auto ins. and I ask how fast was the other cars in front of me going and he said "45". Then he goes back 2 his car (He wasn’t nice talking either) So, he comes back and say’s he thinks my Grandson was standing up (again) I told him he wasn’t and he says he is giving me a ticket for going 55 in a 35. I told him I couldn’t have been going that fast and I was just falling the cars in front of me and he says "No, you where try’n 2 catch up 2 the other cars and I said no I wasn’t and how fast was the other cars going and he said it didn’t matter how fast they where going that I was try’n 2 catch up w/them.
So, my sister was w/me all so and just told me 2 take the ticket and fight it in court. So, what should I do? Go get an attorney or what bcs. I do know I wasn’t going 55 in a 35, it wasn’t even 35 when I seen him and I wonder if he got the wrong auto. or if it was just that my grandson had pushed himself up enough 2 see the sunsetting (bcs. my sister said look at the sun and he leaned up 2 see it and the police seen him at that point. I just don’t know what 2 do? Help
I am most concerned about my insurance going up. It will be three points, and my ins.co. pulls a driving record each year at renewal. The ins. co. told me that in some states you can pay the fine but they will waive the points for first time offenders. Does this apply in GA? I was told that the premium would increase by as much as 25% for this particular ticket. I’ve never been in any accidents, never even been pulled over for speeding. What can I do???
Does it actually work to go to court and plead guilty but ask the judge to reduce the offense? Or does this just annoy them?
From what I read on Ga’s DMV site, traffic school isn’t an option in our state.
I have about 2 speeding tickets that i know of on my record but a total of about 7 violations.
One of my speeding tickets was a 6mph over the limit of 55 and the other ticket was on new years eve for 85 in a 60 i believe the latest ticket was just 5 months ago.
well I turned 22 this past january and I want to try OTR driving etc.
My problem is do you think anyone would hire me even if i had the cdl or are my speeding tickets toooo bad?
My other violations are minor like no front license plate, no seat belt, and i believe 2 years ago 1 ticket for no insurance(my ins. expired the day before i was stopped).
one company i tired to apply for so they could sponsor my school denied me because of the tickets
I’m wondering is there any other way though?
Btw I don’t have any felonies and never been arrested etc.
I received a speeding tickets for going 97 ins a 65. I wwant to beat the ticket but I am goign to do it trial by declaration or meet the judge. THe truth is that I had to pee and I was trying to get to the nearest exit because there was a long stretch without one. I don’t think this is a viable excuse to be let off for the ticket. Are there any existing reasons or excuses that have won for trial? anything I can do to prove that the officer was wrong? Any help or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.
I was crossing the street and a truck it be, Ins Co. determed that he was at fault. My sister is handling this and we have not got an attorny as of yet, she is trying to do this on our own first. Do we have the right to ask for the drivers , driving records speeding tickets or any other accedents he may have had in the past? Is it appropriate or legitimate to request this?
what happens w/ ins
people from ct reply please

we are innocent until proven guilty. instead of questioning my responsibility and telling me to look within myself, why dont you look into the grounds in which in country was founded.
I got a speeding ticket in NYwith SC license, while moving to NY.If I change license to NY before court date, which license be affected? I believe out-of-state drivers dont get as many points. Should I wait until final decision before changing license over to NY?
I will have to turn in my SC license to get the NY license. I am thinking of waiting now, since I dont think the points will transfer from my SC to my future NY license, but I could be wrng.
I am a non-us citizen and in the process of renewing my greencard. That has further kept me from transfering my license over. I wont be able to change it over until I get my new extended documents. I should get it in 60 days, so I guess that is an exception to the rule.
So as for now, I guess I will still be a resident of SC until INS gives me my new papers.
Any idea how much the ticket would be for a 86 on a 65 (interstate 88)? Any good defenses?
My first ticket….NEVER SPEEDING AGAIN! Got to admit that it does help save mileage and lives.
I got a speeding ticket last week. It’s so angering, b/c I’m always a careful driver and I was only 7 months away from having a crystal-clean perfect driving record, which would have drastically lowered my car insurance. I can’t afford the increase in my insurance rates. I’m thinking of pleading not guilty, then when I get to court, quick change my plea to "guilty" if the cop negotiates a deal with me. By the way, I live in a PA suburb outside Philly.
Is this the best approach? What is the best way to handle this problem, without having my insurance rates go sky-high? Should I offer the judge to go to driving school in exchange for no points on my record?(Is this even an option?)I am willing to pay a higher fine if it means it will not have points to affect my driving record, since a higher fine will still probably be less money than the increase that my insurance rates will experience over the next 3yrs. What should I do? I don’t think I can afford a lawyer…how much are they?
realnj97, that sounds like a good idea. I was thinking it would be like that, where I could get out of the points and insurance rate consequences if I pay a heftier fine. I wouldn’t mind paying 0-400 more, because that’ll end up being less $ than the increase in my insurance premiums over the next 3yrs!
To the others: Are you SURE that my rates won’t go up for just one ticket? Almost 3yrs ago, I had a very small "accident"(scratched someone’s car pulling out of a parking space). It costed 60 to repair, only b/c it was a new car(the damage was very minimal)…that is only above PA’s legal cutoff for the accident damage that insurance co’s can use against you. Yet they raised my rates 0/6-mo. period over a 3-yr time, that means I’m paying out 00 extra over 3yrs for an "accident" that costed less than that(only 60).So now you see my concern about the ins. rates.Oh and it was the only thing on my record, other than a 6-10mile-over-limit ticket from 3yrs ago.
To GuessWho: Sorry, but Geico is a no-no for me. Geico charges about 2.5X more than the rates that I’m paying currently with Travelers. Thanks for the suggestion though, but I always extensively shop around for car ins. rates every few months, and Travelers has always been the cheapest each time(although I really wish the rates would be lower). My rates aren’t terrible, but they’re far from good.
To the most recent poster: I don’t normally speed. I was driving through on a main road that used to have a speed limit of 50mph but recently got reduced to 40mph. That’s how I got slammed. I wasn’t going 20mph over, so I guess that works good for me, but it was close to 20mph over.
What I meant by crystal clean record, is that the only other things on my record are a minor speeding ticket(6-10mph over) and a small accident( over the legal cut-off by what is defined as an "accident"…if the damage had been > less, it wouldn’t have been used as a "claim" on my insurance reports). The ticket and accident are scheduled to "fall off" this fall, which will be the 3yr mark. (In PA, minor occurences affect your rates for 3yrs, but major occurences such as DUIs affect your rates for 5yrs)
I got pulled over the other day and I’m going to court. I need some advise. I have only been pulled over one other time my entire life and that was about 6 or 7 years ago. He said, quote, "by my guess you were going 55" I honeslty think I was doing no more than 45mph in a 40. I was at a stop behind a bus at a red light and made a left turn when it turned green. The bus was going 30mph, so I went around it and was doing btwn 40 and 45. The cop said because of the way I "pulled ahead" he thought I was doing more. (was he only "guessing" and how can I tell if he used a radar?) I have a clean record, and so he gave me impeding traffic with no points. Do I have a chance to have my ticket waived or the fine reduced? Please help ![]()
Oh and my proof of ins. was expired by a couple days (didnt come in the mail on time) I had them fax me a copy and took it to the station the same day, so that it reduced to . the other fine is 0
the cop also said that if I make a court date he will go and waive it, is that possible
