My first speeding ticket, how much will this affect my insurance?
I got pulled over and got a ticket of about 277 dollars, the cop said i could talk to the prosecutor and he can lower the fine down as well as the demerit points, so if the fine does get lowered and i only went around 29km/h over the speed limit, how much can this affect my insurance rates?
Why people should have a PrePaid Legal Plan……?
I have seen a lot of people rip on PrePaid Legal and say that it is a scam. I am an associate for PrePaid Legal, but even if I wasn't, I would say those people are wrong! It is not a scam! I have saved THOUSANDS of dollars with only a few matters with my provider lawfirm.
1. I have used my provider law firm prepare my will for me and my family. It would have cost me 0 locally to have it done by an attorney in my town.
2. I got a speeding ticket, and my attorney law firm got it reduced to a "illegal turn" citation. No points, and 1/2 of the fine. My city is not known for reducing fines. Savings of about ,500 in three years for insurance rates increase.
3. They reviewed my business documents at no charge, and now I don't sign anything without them looking at contracts. This is HUGE!
4. A furniture store refused to clean my sofas with their "protection" plan. I called the law firm, and the cleaners came out the next day.
I just want to know some don't like PPLSI.
Will the insurance know of my speeding ticket if court date is in two months?
I am 16 and i am going to get insurance within a week,

When i join my parents policy this week, will they know of the ticket and increase my insurance rates?

First speeding ticket?

Will Allstate Raise My Insurance Rates for My First Speeding Ticket?
I just got my first speeding ticket, for going 13 mph over the speed limit. It is 0 and 2 points. This is the first ticket I've ever gotten. Will it raise my insurance rates if its my first ticket? I have Allstate, I live in Colorado, and I am a 16 year old girl.
Also, is it possible to go to court, instead of just paying the fine, and try to get the ticket lowered?
Thank You
California Speeding Ticket reduced – will insurance skyrocket?
My 19-year-old son received his first traffic citation (VC 22348B) for speeding over 100 mph in Kern County, California, while driving to college. We hired an attorney and the original charge was dismissed. The increased fine was surprisingly expensive (,406.00) but now he has only a one point violation (22349A, I think), which we assumed would save us money (insurance-wise) in the long run.
Will reducing the two point violation to a one point be enough to keep our insurance rates down? I think I read somewhere that details of the original citation are still viewable by our insurance company. Is it likely they'll base their rates on the original charge even though it was formally dismissed? Otherwise, our family's driving records are squeaky clean.
Will this violation stay on his DMV record for three years or seven? Would a subsequent violation revive the dismissed charge?
Thank you, John, for your thorough answer. It may not matter, but I should correct some of the details. A second count was added and the first dismissed. The new count (a one point violation) is a 22356(b) and apparently we're at the mercy of the judge or officer as to the price, which somehow added up to ,469.00.
Should i contest my ticket for speeding in a school zone?
This took place around quarter to 4 in the afternoon. I saw the flashing lights fr. far away but since I was coming down for a slight hill, I was trying hard to put on my brakes from 35 to 20 mph and the stupid camera caught me goin at 29 mph. I was on my way to class and was jus braking until it could get to 20.
My feeling is that I should jut pay for it - i'm driver in my 20's and they'll take advantage of that; I was in a school zone (even though school was done for the day)....what should I do? My only worry is that my insurance rates will go up. I'm not a bad driver and have never been in an accident. HELP
Also, I don't want to deal with this. I feel that I would rather just pay it and get it over with. I hate these damn cameras...i'm not a bad driver and that one time i was rushing to class, it takes a picture
This won't be on my record, right? Do i have to take classes? This is in Washington state btw
*** ALSO, one more question: I was driving my mom's car (under her name), how can i change it and take her name of it and put mines?
This was in the afternoon when school was already dismissed. There weren't any cars in the school parking lot as I passed by.
what do i do about my speeding ticket?
i live in sacramento, california and i just got a speeding ticket this morning on my way to school. im a college student and my financial situation isn't doing very well so i want to do anything i can to lessen my expenses. i know ill have to pay the ticket fine because i was clearly speeding (61 in a 45), but i already did traffic school last year so im not eligible anymore and my insurance rates will most likely sky rocket.. this is what kills me. i hear people can go to court and beg for community service to keep the POINTS OFF INSURANCE records; is this possible? and in my situation is it likely that i will be granted the opportunity? and if so WHEN do i request for it, during the INITIAL PLEA or during the TRIAL itself where the police officer is present? i know this is a lot of questions, but this is a very serious problem for me so i would like sincere and experienced people to answer my questions please. thank you in advance for any help you can offer.
i can pay the fine pretty much no problem, but the insurance rates are whats going to kill me. i need some way out of getting those points on my record to keep my insurance rates the same.
I got a speeding ticket in VA. Should I get a lawyer and where?
The ticket was for 22 over in a 45. Where do i look for a lawyer? Should i represent myself? The legal defense kit from the NMA looks good (https://www.motorists.org/ldk/order.php). Any advice greatly appreciated. Got until Feb court date to get things together. Also, how will this affect my insurance rates?
i see ticketing as a way of generating revenue for the state. in 11 years of driving i have never had an accident and 0 dollars of revenue for the state could be thousands of dollars of extra insurance for me. I am going to fight this ticket so no stupid advice like, "just pay the ticket and stop being a baby."
i got a speeding ticket! what can i do? :(?

i am guilty for sure. let me remind you that the gov't wants you to give up. look at oj simpson. he got away with murder. all i need is to put up a fight.
Speeding Ticket Technicality?
Today, I was in traffic court for my first speeding ticket from back in October. After having that handled, and luckily reduced to 65 in a 55mph, I was fortunate enough to get my second speeding ticket today.
As for today's ticket, I was on the road that I live off of, which rarely has cops on it.(very very rarely) and was pulled over for going 51 in a 35mph speed limit. The officer was somewhat reasonable, and marked my charge down as "Driving vehicle at Safe Speed". I dont know how or why that matters, or why he acted like that was giving me a break, cause he still put me down for 51 in a 35.
Do you guys know why thats better than the "maximum speed limits" or "careless driving" charges??
Anyways, my main concern was, on the ticket, where the officer would mark HOW he clocked my speed i.e. "Radar", "Clocked", "Vascar" etc....he didn't check any of the boxes. Nor did he fill in any of the info on the bottom of the ticket, regarding the same things. He left blank the "Speed Timing Device Operator", "Date Equip Tested", "Speed Equip Serial No." boxes.
Would this leave me with any technicalities I could use to weasel my way out of this ticket??
Yes, I was speeding, and caught, again, I know. I really would rather not put my parent's insurance rates through the roof, cause I was going 16mph over the very low speed limit. They aren't the ones that should deal w/ the most expensive of the consequences.
One thing I forgot to add was, even though the cop marked no speed measuring device, he said that he had radar'd me. Does that change anything or would the 'my word against his' argument still suffice?
I have a speeding ticket in New Jersey, my license is in Texas. Should I pay a higher fine to avoid points?
I can pay less for the fine but I would get 'points.' I'm just not sure if these points will transfer to my Texas Motor Vehicle Report. The NonResident Violator Compact refers to ignoring tickets and having your license suspended, but not the reporting of speeding tickets / points. I'd be willing to pay a few hundred dollars extra to avoid my insurance rates going up, but if NJ doesn't report to TX, I don't see the need.
Thanks!
mbrcatz below is somewhat incorrect - I can plead guilty to a lesser charge, which would come without points, but with a heftier fine, according to the municipal court lawyers with whom I've spoken.
Is there any way that I can get a second speeding ticket off of my record?
On my way to school this morning, I was running a bit late, so I was speeding. Of course, the one time I'm speeding, there is a cop.
I've had one before, and I did the defensive driving course and got it dismissed, but in my area, they only allow you to do that once every two years. It has not been two years...
My question is if there is any way that I can get this off of my record. I don't really care about the price so much, just so long as it's under the probable 00 that it will cost me in insurance rates. Is there a court process that I can go through and get it dismissed? I live in Baton Rouge, LA, so anything pertinent to your experiences may be helpful.
A couple more questions:
If it does go on my insurance, How much do you think it will cost? (I have USAA)
How many points will go on my license if I cannot get it dismissed? (Again, I live in Baton Rouge, LA, and have USAA)
How long will the points last on my record?
I was planning on getting a motorcycle within a year or so. Will this inhibit my chances of getting a good rate, or will it be done and gone by then?
Thanks for the help.
Brian.
P.S.: I know that I have to pay the ticket itself, as well as court fees. I saw on a similar post about a similar topic and he was flamed for appearing as if he was planning on not paying the fees and ticket.
How to dismiss a moving violation in St. Louis, MO?
What can I do to dismiss a 15 mph over the speed limit moving violation in St. Louis, MO city? Will Traffic school do that? Anything outside of a lawyer. I have not had a ticket in over 22 years and I do not want my insurance rates to increase. Any help is most appreciated. Thanks
Hubbie got 3rd ticket in 12 months, how can I get him to stop speeding?
I am beside myself. He has just gotten the THIRD speeding ticket in 12 months. After ticket #2 (four months ago) he said "I promise this will not happen again". I just am so angry with him right now because it's not just the ticket (which based upon the last one will be over 0.00) BUT now we will lose our good driver discount on our insurance (with 2 points on his record). His driving has been an issue with us our whole marriage. He drives too fast and too agressively and then WE pay the price later. I have to figure out where the money will come from to pay the fine and the increase in our insurance rates. How can I get my message across to him that this has to stop?
Can I avoid a car insurance rate hike in Ohio with Car Teens after a speeding ticket?
I'm 17 and got a ticket for 87 in a 65. The State Highway Patrol officer claimed they would likely give me Car Teens (as well as a fine) to erase the points from my record. If I did this and had it erased from the record, would my insurance rates still go up and if so any idea how much?
speeding ticket california?
My first ticket was a 82 in a 65 in San Diego, Ca during Sept 08. I paid the ticket and went to traffic school. My second ticket was 80 in a 65 in Laguna Hills (Orange County) Ca during Sept 09. My questions are the following:
Is my first ticket off my record because of taking traffic school? Do I get points on my driving record for my first ticket? Am I able to take traffic school for my second ticket, how many points is my second ticket, does the State of Ca let insurance companies raise insurance rates? If so how much will my insurance be raised?
Thank You
speeding ticket?
I got a speeding ticket by the California Highway Patrol for going 83 in a 65 mph zone. I had a previous ticket for running a red light and went to traffic school for that. Is there anything I can do so that my insurance rates wont go up? Possibly pay a higher fine?
Will traffic court in North Carolina allow me to speak with the DA before case is heard for speeding ticket?
I received a speeding ticket in North Carolina en route from MD to GA. I've been reading all the advice about how to beat tickets and I tried to speak with the prosecuting attorney assigned to my court case to work out a plea agreement via phone but the secretary I spoke with said they will not talk to me before the court date, only in open court. This is in Rowan County.
So, will I be able to speak with the attorney prior to standing before the judge to possibly work out a plea agreement? I don't deny the charges (79 in a 65) but this is my first ticket and I do not want to get points on my license and have my insurance rates go up. If anyone has experience in this county or in the state please comment.
Speeding Ticket in North Carolina, should I hire an attorney?
I got a ticket for going 60 in a 45 in Wake County, NC. 0 fine.
I just moved to NC and was surprised two days later to receive solicitation letters from 8 separate attorneys, all saying I should hire them to reduce the potential impact on my insurance rates. Where I moved from (RI), there is no points system, and one speeding ticket does not seem as big a deal.
Most claim to charge a flat fee of 200 or so, and I would not have to pay any additional fines or court costs...I guess they get the fine reduced to a level where they use the 200 for the fine and their fee.. They also say they can avoid points on my license and I would not have to go to court.
No idea if this is worth it. Any ideas?
Online traffic school/defense course?
I have one speeding ticket from 7 months ago and I got another one last night, I found this site on my local DMV site that says it can help you keep points of my record, how does this work?
http://www.dmv.org/or-oregon/traffic-tic...
And will it be effective with keeping my insurance rates low?
Just got my first ticket (speeding in a school zone)?
I have Progressive insurance and i'm 17 years old, i just got my first ticket today for goin 21 over in a school zone during school hours which is 20 mph, the speed limit there is usually 30 not during school hours. So i was going 41mph, it's a 200$ ticket. This is my first ticket and my record is clean, will this increase my insurance rates???
I live in nh
Speeding ticket and insurance question?
I just posted a question about my speeding ticket I received yesterday
I was going 101 mph on a 65 mph zone.
I'm under my dads policy and im 17
this is my first ticket
I just want to know how this is going to effect the insurance rates?
Obviously they'll go up, but our policy expires in August
will the insurance notify my parents about the ticket when they find out about it or when we go renew our policy/.
thanks
will the rates go up after our policy expires?
If I take myself off my dads policy when it expires, will his rates still go up?
