How To Beat A Speeding Ticket Avoiding, Contesting and Beating Speeding Tickets

Speeding ticket – advice?

15 mph above speed limit. Hiring an attorney would be almost 0. Is there any other way to take care of this ticket besides hiring an attorney? I was on cruise control going down a hill, could I just explain to the judge that I was being naive about the use of cruise control? And there was a mistake on my ticket, it said the timing of my ticket was 9am, when actuality it was 9:30pm, does that matter?

I got a speeding ticket and I decided to go for a hearing! But I made a mistake!?

I got a speeding ticket and I decided to go for a hearing! But I made a mistake! When the cop gave me a ticket, he asked me if I am pleading guilty and I said yes. He gave me two citations, one I am not pleading guilty and the other I am not sure (the speeding). now If I go to court will the cop say that I have already admitted by guilt orally?? If that bind me by law.

If I hire a attorney to fight my speeding ticket? Will I get a chance? How will the attorney fight for my rights?

Officer wrote wrong speed limit on my ticket, can I fight it?

I recently got a ticket for going 40 in a 25. The officer had poor handwriting, and it clearly says 40 in a 75. Now obviously there isn't a 75mph zone in the city, but does a mistake like that get a ticket dismissed?

How to get out of a speeding ticket in Indiana (when there's incorrect information on the ticket)?

I got a ticket saying I went 14miles over the speeding limit.
On the ticket, under race it has me listed as White when I'm in fact Asian. I've checked my drivers license and there's nothing on race in there, so is it a mistake of the officer? If I go to court will that be enough to have the ticket dismissed? It's my second speeding ticket within the year (i've never had any violations before the two tickets).

can i escape a "no registration" traffic ticket?

my dumpy little saturn was broken into a while ago (within 365 days) and some things were stolen from the car (cd's, change, and everything in my glovebox) including my insurance+registration of the vehicle. SO, i told dad, he went to DMV and fixed it all. only thing is...was that i had all but the car registration in my car, WHEN i got my ticket. i had a copy of it at home (old copy, they spelled my last name wrong)... so i got a 0 speeding ticket along with a 2 no registration ticket. now, it would really be sad if i, a 19yr old student with a minimum wage job, had to pay more than 0 for my mistake (fwy 83 in a 65).

Question is, if i went to court, which i plan to do and pay for an attorney, can i or do you think i can get them to waive the registration if i prove i've had it the whole time?

it is marked on the ticket that i didnt have it. but like i said 172 would be a big kick in the pants...

sigh... advice?

I got a speeding ticket. Can I win on court if the police officer don't have any proof of my actual speeding?

I got pulled over for speeding. According to the police officer I was going at 80 mph but he just wrote 60 mph on the ticket. He told me he could take me to jail and impound my car. I weight 185 lbs , 5'7 and the police wrote 160 lbs and 5'8 so if he didn't get my weight right and my height he could made a mistake also.
I told him to check my record it's clean.
I just want to know if I can win this in court if he doesn't have any proof of my speeding.
Thanks

Cop messed up on the ticket?

I got a ticket the other day for speeding, and a few days later i get a letter from an attorney saying he would like to represent me in my D.U.I case. So i call the clerks office and they tell me that there was a mistake on the ticket the cop wrote that he wrote the wrong number and wrote me a D.U.I instead of a speeding ticket, and that they would change it right away. Is it worth goin to fight in court? Would i get out of the speeding ticket?

Can i get out of this speeding ticket i recieved in my cousins neighbourhood.?

Ok, so i was picking up my cousin from his neighbourhood and then i saw the cop making a turn into the neighbourhood. I had 7 to 8 seconds to slow my speed and i believe i did. I ended up waving to the officer as we went past each other continued on my way. After a while i see him closing in on me real fast. I pulled over and he wrote me a ticket for 216 something dollars. He had clocked me doing 37 in 25 neighbourhood. I told the officer i was not going that fast.. Even my cousin can attest to that fact. Why would i not slow down , even though i had around 8 seconds to slow down and then wave to him if i was speeding. I heard moving radar is full of errors and he was accelerating after he came around in the corner and clocked me at 37, he drives a dodge charger btw , so this car can accelerate pretty fast. Also the angle between us was less around 20 to 30 percent, so i believe cosine error is what happened to me.. Can i fight this in court? I mean, how can my neighbour do this to me! I was not speeding! i might have been going 5 miles over the limit tops! I had So much time to slow down and i did! Either he got ticked off that i was waving at him or there was a mistake in the radar gun!

http://tipmra.com/new_tipmra/moving_radar_update.htm

I was wondering if i can use this defense.
Q6. Acceleration Error: Officer what is acceleration error or deceleration error? (if the officer is accelerating his speed computations will be from a lower speed for his car resulting in a higher speed for your car because the speed when the return comes in and is calculated is not the speed which the car was before the computation.)

Q3. BATCHING EFFECT: Officer, what is BATCHING EFFECT? (The Batching effect may occur if the patrol car is rapidly changing its speed while the RADAR speed measurements are being made. Some RADAR counting units may be unable to keep up with the rapidly changing speeds. Instead of using the true speed of the patrol car to measure closing speed, the counting unit may use the speed that the patrol car was traveling a few fractions of a second earlier. If the patrol car is rapidly accelerating, then its earlier speed was lower than its present true spe
I am aware, that cops dont write tickets just for the heck of it. But is it impossible to consider that it could have been a radar error?

If i got a speeding ticket and when I went to court they said there’s no records of me, what happened?

Ok I'm 16 and I got a speeding ticket on February, the cop wrote a court date on the ticket and when I went to cour to pay for the ticket they said they had no record of me on the recorders court so they sent me to the juvenille court, i got there and i asked them and they also told me that they never received no ticket or nothing from me so they had no records of me getting a ticket. what do you think might have happened? it's been more than 2 months after i received the ticket and they have no records or nothing yet. what do you think? thanks for your opinion.
yeah and the weird thing is that its been more than 2 months already. i really appreciate your help guys and i really hope that there was a mistake and they never get the ticket because i'm not one of those teenager who dedicates themselves to race i don;t really like that because i love myself to much to risk like that. i use my car just to go to school and go to work to pay for the car and sometimes to go to the movies.

What do you think will happen to me??? you can be brutally honest i know i made a mistake and i know it was wrong and stupid, and believe me i'll never take anything ever again, it's not worth it

On a recent trip across NY State, I got two speeding tickets. I had one a year earlier. Question?

Am I going to lose my license (It sounds like 3 tickets in 18 months is automatic grounds).

I have court dates for both tickets...how do I get out of at least one?

Please help!

Some exculpatory information: in both cases I was arguing with my wife while driving and just lost track of my speed for a moment. Particularly for the second ticket---it was a long trip and my daughter had been sick and spit up---the car was a little uncomfortable, though I still certainly should've kept my speed down. I made a mistake.

It was a 7 hour driving trip each way that I had made on both days.

I got a speeding ticket with the wrong fine?

I got a speeding ticket in Cook county, IL The Speeding ticket is for 52 in a 30mph which would be 22mph over the limit. Also on the ticket the officer checked next to "1-20mph over the limit" which would be a ticket but when I checked the ticket online I have a dollar fine which would be for 21-30mph over the limit. The ticket says that I was clocked using a radar, but when I asked him to see the radar he said it was not on the radar. I dont want to go to court unless I am sure I will win because if I am found guilty I will have to pay the fine plus 5 in court fees and I just got a speeding ticket about a 2 months before this. Is the officers mistake enough to fight the ticket in court

can sue if My license was wrongfully suspended for a ticket I DID pay for?

THIS IS IN STATE OF FLORIDA, COLLIER COUNTY:

I received a ticket in December 2008 for speeding in collier county, elected traffic school. I paid the ticket to clerk of courts, completed the school and sent the certificate back in February of 2008. Since then I have been pulled over, but was never told of any issues with my license. Last night however, July 2009, a cop informed me that my license was suspended for failur to make payment on this ticket in collier county back in December.. I freaked! He was so nice, gave me an infraction and even told me that I could sue if it was a mistake... Today I went online and see CLEAR AS DAY on the collier county's records for their clerk of courts that they received my payment for my ticket, received my notice for electing traffic schoool and recieved my certficate for completion for said traffic.... So now what should I do? The cop told me last night I should hire an attorney and take the ticket to court with my proof, which I plan to do but I have to main questions:

#1) In the meantime, How do I get this record corrected on my license ASAP??? I need to drive to and from work and live my life and while I may have a heavy foot, I paid my damn bill and dont' want to worry about being arrested or s/t crazy for driving on a suspende license when it was clearly the county's mistake. Can I call them on MOnday and get it cleared up? Do I need to go there?

#2) I'm GENUINELY interested in suing the county, per the suggest of the cop (AKA the nicest cop on earth). This is so embarrasing and frustrating , not to mentoin scary. I want to know my rights and while this may be more of an attorney question, I curious if anyone else has ever tried to sue and how it turned out?

NOTE: Please, don't WASTE my TIME and write me crap like "drive better". LOL, no Sh** pal! Answer my direct question or shut the hell up b/c there are NO saints on this earth so don't waste my time and yours pointing random blame like you ain't never done sh** wrong in your life. Thanks :)
Also, if I go to the DMV, can I go to any one or must it be in collier county?

If i admit guilt to a speeding ticket, what are the chances that i can plea for it to not go on my record?

Note: I don't want dumb obvious answers like YOU ADMIT GUILT AND ITS GOOD GAME FROM THERE. If that's what you want to write your wasting my time. I was going 81 on a 65 when i was really going around maybe 77 i think the police officer bumped me up into that bracket, cause their is a 16 over bracket. but besides that i live in california, and this is my first speeding ticket and will be my last as i did learn my lesson, i am a college student and insurance is going to cost me a lot. I already have done traffic school, for doing a rolling stop on a stop sign (14 months ago), so that option is closed for me, someone has informed me that if i dress up, go to court, and admit guilt but plea that it was stupid of me to go fast and to make that mistake , that i can request that this may not go on my driving record by me doing traffic school again. So I'm wondering is it possible to plea for this, and what are the chances that traffic courts in california will allow a college student to at least take traffic school to avoid havin this ticket on my record, i also have heard if he is even more kind, that the judge just might let me off with a warning, and since this is my 2nd ticket, I don't have a raging driving record that shows that I am out of control.

Should I contest my Florida speeding ticket?

The cop said I was going 19 over, but said he would give me a break and only cite me for 9 over. The penalty on the ticket was for 9 over, but when I went to pay my ticket online it charged me for 19 over, 6 instead of what the ticket said 1. Then I realized the cop left the 19 over radar reading but only changed the penalty price. I went to the county Clerk to see if I could still pay only the 1 but they said the officer made a mistake and I still had to pay the 6. Do I have a good chance of having the ticket dismissed completely because of the officer's mistake? Should I hire a traffic lawyer?

IL Ticket for going 100 mph in a 55 mph zone: Get an attorney?

Guess going over 40 is a Class A Misdemeanor. I called around, looks like they are around 0 to 0 per court appearance. The cop was out of his car but jumped in when I drove by on the highway. I got a speeding ticket 18 months ago, its off my record because of driving school. The ticket says he used a LIDAR, so I'm not trying to say I wasn't speeding, but it was questionable if I was going THAT fast. I'm just wondering if it's worth the time to get an attorney to come with me. I really can't afford to pay a lot (I know I know, my own fault) or get my license suspended. Any thoughts?
I understand your comments, but I already know I made a mistake. I'm not looking for judgement, I'm looking to resolve the current problem that I have. I didn't realize I was posting on Yahoo Opinions. Have any of you ever made a mistake? Sinned? Ran a red light? I guess not. And I wouldn't kick you while you were down.

Could I Plea Bargain for a speeding ticket in Upstate NY with mistake on ticket sheet via phone call?

I received a speeding ticket in the county of Onondaga, going 15 miles over. (80 in 65) on the highway. Could I plea bargain with its Town Court by phone? I live 350 miles away from where I received my ticket and cannot go back up to Onondaga to appear in court.
Also, there is a mistake on the ticket: the name of the defendant is mistakenly put as the name registered under the car but with my driver license id number. My name is supposed to appear instead. Would this mistake on the ticket sheet be beneficial towards my plea bargaining as well?
Please let me know..I appreciate any advice or comments. Thank You

Speeding ticket :(…help!!!!?

I was going over the speed limit by a great deal 107 :( , unfortunately now I am paying the price of my mistake. It requires a court appearance because of how fast I was going.

I've been seeking lawyers that may be willing to offer me advice for a fee as I can't afford the legal representation costs. In hopes of improving my chances in court, no lawyer yet has offered any services to give me a few words of advice.

I come here asking two questions: Is this lack of assistance the norm for law firms and so I should just quit trying? (Some sort of unwritten rule or something?)

Is there any advice someone can give me that can help me better prepare myself for the court date? I would be greatly appreciative.

I really just wish to explain to the judge that I did do something wrong and that I have learned a lot from my mistake over the months. I just hope to show to the judge this is usually not part of my character (through my grades in school, etc) and that she may consider a reduced penalty, possibly with no points, a monetary fee (likely) and possibly school.

Should I consider to plea no contest, not guilty or guilty?

Thanks everyone.
Clarification: I AM NOT TRYING TO GET ADVICE FROM AN ATTORNEY FOR FREE, I REQUESTED THAT THEY MIGHT OFFER CONSULTATION FOR A FEE!!! I am not gonna ask a lawyer for legal advice for free that's like asking a sales man if I can get free stuff...

Mistake on my speeding ticket in California?

Hi guys, I got a speeding ticket back in December for going 85 on a 65. Anyway, my court date was set for February 10th. The ticket told me to show up at the Superior Court even though I turn 18 March 2nd. I showed up and they told me to show up at the Juvenile Court but I had to go to work so I forgot about it. Anyway, the clerk at the Superior Court told me that the officer made a mistake by writing superior court instead of juvenile court on my ticket even though I am not 18 yet by the Court date. Any suggestions on what I should do?
thanks!
I'm not trying to get out of the ticket, I missed my court date because of this mistake and now I'm fearing a failure to appear because of a mistake I didn't do.

what can I accept at a court hearing for speeding ticket?

I decided to fight a speeding ticket I received. I've been free from any tickets in the past 15-18 months and normally drive the speed limit and I honestly made a mistake this time. I have an informal hearing with the magistrate at the local police department. What can I expect when talking with her and should I wear a skirt?
I'm from the united states.

If i got a speeding ticket, do i really have to keep the actual ticket?

So in the beginning of the month i got a speeding ticket, & i took care of it with one of those no-ticketclinic stuff, but that's besides the point. I had it in my wallet & yesterday by mistake, i took it out my wallet while i was out & lost it. Does it really matter??
I haven't gotten any updated info about the case since it was like 2 weeks ago so idk if that makes a difference.

Can I still be a cop with a speeding ticket and alcohol violation?

I am 21 years old and have no criminal record and am a junior in college majoring in CJ with the intentions of becomming a police officer.

I do however have a speeding ticket (from when I was 18) and just recently I made a mistake while visiting NYC, I got a ticket for drinking in public. I thought you could drink in public if you had the can covered in a paper bag, I was wrong and got ticketed for drinking alcohol in public.

I am really worried about the the drinking violation comming up to haunt me in the future. I was 21 when I was ticketed for drinking in public. Im not from NY, I am from Michigan.
Also the drinking violation is considered a civil infraction, not a crime.

How does Scdmv react for speeding in Virginia?

I'm an alien quite new to this country.
Within thirty minutes I received two tickets for Speeding in Virginia.
I was on a vacation with my family heading towards Cleveland.
This was the first time I was driving a rental luxury car.
The mistake was I was not able to feel the overspeed and the odometer was divised in 20's which is new to me and not used to.
Now I want to know how the demerits from Virginia will affect my license in South Carolina.
Until that moment, I've had a Clean / Safe driving record.

Speeding ticket Upstate NY?

My boyfriend was pulled over when we were on our way to VT for vacation. The officer said that he was going 76mph in a 55mph zone.

I know the points procedure, I know the DMV costs and that he will be paying a fine BUT we are going up to fight the ticket for a few reasons.

He was definetly not going 76. I know because I looked at his spedomiter the milisecond I saw the cop and it was not near76.

We are from long island and we are not used to driving in extremely hilly areas. At the time the cop spottes us we were headed down a hill and he had begun breaking (he was breaking to hold the car steady and hadnt seen the cop yet... )

He has a clean record and is 25 so we will mention that and make sure they know that this was a one time thing and it was due to the hilly terrain.

And lastly he officer marked the color of the car green when the car we were in was silver. One mistake on a ticket can help, I would assume, even if it is something as ignorant at the color of the vehicle. Considering there was a green car ahead of us.

And on long island if you get pulled over and you fight the ticket, the more often then not let you off with a lower violoation with either lower point penalty or none at all.

Do you think it is the same upstate?

Do you think we have a shot at fighting this... even if it is atleast to drop the speed from the marked 76 down to 70 to lower the point penalty and drop the DMV charge?

(6 pts + is a DMV charge of 0 in NY anything below there is no DMV charge)

Can a police rip a speeding ticket?

On June 6 I was pulled over by an officer and received a speeding ticket for going over the speed limit. I tried explaining that I had my speed on cruise control, but nonetheless still received a ticket. At the next stop light, I got pulled over again by the same officer. He asked me for the ticket and went back to his car to issue me a new ticket. I questioned his authority and all I received in response was, β€œIt was a mistake.” So I asked to see the first ticket. The officer came back with the first ticket only to tear it in pieces saying, β€œI do apologize but it was a mistake.” Is that even legal? What can I do?

*By the way, I live in Florida.
