I worked for a guy 3 month and during those 3 month i did not have a driver licence therefore i had one of my friend to drive a van for me. I of the days i was at a friends wedding practice and during that day we hired the van to some1 who had been looking for a vanto rent just for a day.

He got stoped by a police officer with a speed gun goin over speed and gave my details. The officer did not check if the vehicle ws insuared, taxed, mot, drivers license, persons identification. so the person gave out my details.

According to the owner of the vehicle he gave a statement that i had the vehicle. I saw the ticket after a week looked for the person couldnt find him and i have contested my tickets that i was not the ones driving the vehicle and i have witnesses to prove it.

The guy who employed me did not have any documents to prove he employed me no my driving license detail and did not insure me on the vehicle. the case is on me now how do i get about to prove my case on my second hearing.
the officer did not ask for anything he was given a producer so he gave my date of birth, name and address

My boyfriend (20 years old) got a speeding ticket [in a school zone] in September, he hired an attorney (paid 200 bucks!) & got it dismissed however, he had to take a defensive driving course (of course) and was placed on probation until January 25, 2010… because he is not a good driver (lol!) he got ANOTHER ticket for the exact same thing this past week! Another 6.00 ticket! He says he had no idea it was even a school zone but the police officer was very strict.

I was wondering what is going to happen now? Since he was on probation from the last speeding in a school zone ticket. Is there any way he could still get this one dismissed if he pleads not guilty? Should we call that attorney back & let him know he got another ticket? Is there anything he can do for it not to be put on his record & raise our insurance!?

I really appreciate your advice!

I got a speeding ticket from a police officer in a car. How do they check your speed, I was on the freeway, doing 75 on a 65. I know motorcycle cops use radar, or laser, how about car cops?

I was in the university parking lot and a police officer tells me to stop for speeding. He said I was going 35 mph in the parking lot. The speed limit is 5 mph. He didn’t have me on radar he said it was his estimate. Is there a way to beat this. This happened in California. Is there any special plead that will make this go away?

So I have a few questions regarding a speeding ticket that I received. I had gotten the speeding ticket on November 21st 2009.

That previous week I had gotten my wallet stolen so I had my license with me, but not in a wallet.

I explained to the officer that I had Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and I needed to use the restroom immediately and I coud not find my license (because it had fallen between my seats). I was willing to look for the license but the officer proceeded to ask me for my Name, date of birth, and address. He said that he would send me a ticket in the mail for 10mph over, and THATS IT. That was fine.

I went in on November 24th so that I could jus pay the fine, and be done with it. The clerk had said that there was nothing posted, and that the officer may not have filed the ticket yet. Okay…so I waited for the ticket which could be several weeks.

I waited and waited, and talked to a retired police officer, and he said that it coud take up to several weeks for a ticket to get sent in the mail.

Come January 11th, still no ticket but I received a notice stating that I have failed to appear for a court appearance on the 28th of December, and that I have a failure to appear, and my license will be supsended in 30 days unless I respond. I immediately go down there, to find out that I not only had a speeding ticket for 4, but another 4 unavailable license ticket, as well as a fine for late notice. So I filed for a hearing to contest the charges and penalties.

I have a hearing tomorrow, but will I be able to contest just each individual fine, or will it need to be just for ALL the charges?

I really feel like I got the crap end of the stick on this one, and I am not an irresponsible person when it comes to following up on scheduled court dates and fines, but I felt as if this was a VERY unneccessary/poor process for giving me a ticket.

What should I do?
I am in Washington state. I forgot to add that.
On the FTA status:

I had never agreed to appear in a court.

I had not gone in AT ALL and never received a ticket.

The Notice said that my account was delinqeuent, and I had charges that totalled 0.

On a ticket it usually says I have 1 days to respond, or I would automatically become guilty of the charge.

Apprently thats what happened. I never signed a document, nor did I schedule an actual hearing. Thats why I am so stumped on thei WHOLE thing.

Here’s the situation:

In Jan 2009, around 1pm, high noon, weekday, EMPTY road, no traffic, no cars parked, very wide two way road, 4 lanes total, I was driving down a long winding rode in Daly City, CA, Guadalupe Canyon Expressway, speed limit 45mph going around 45-50 as I go down the hill, I see the police officer on his bike on the left side like 30 feet away. Naturally, I slow down and approach the stop sign coming up, full stop naturally. As I finish my stop, the cop, who was to the left of me, immediately pulls up behind me, and says I was speeding up in a school zone?! He then writes a speed limit of 50mph on my ticket. Naturally I am very pissed.

I got to court and the judge says I am not eligible for traffic school because I had a stop sign citation earlier last year….he asks me if I want to settle or fight it. I opted to fight. Was that a good idea? I have no exp fighting an officer in court. Anyways, my court date is in June 2009, hoping that he either doesn’t show or his memory is fuzzy.

need some help! What should I do? On the ticket he says no radar used…if that helps….

thanks guys any suggestions are appreciated!
i know I slowed down to 25 within the school zone, i was going down fast but no so fast that it was dangerous….but he said that I was speeding up in the school zone??? what do u guys think?

I have heard that two thirds of all speeding tickets are dismissed if you go to court because the police officers often do not show up. Do you think I should try this? Also, what happens if the police officer DOES show up? Will I be expected to pay the fine immediately?

In New Hampshire, if police officer fails to show up for court date is the speeding ticket automatically dismissed? What are the odds it would be dismissed for this?
it’s just a regular speeding ticket, not reckless driving or DUI or anything
would if officer is on vacation and/or out-of-town on the court date?
can the court have another cop or other representative there to prosecute me instead of the cop that actually wrote the ticket?

i live in sacramento, california and i just got a speeding ticket this morning on my way to school. im a college student and my financial situation isn’t doing very well so i want to do anything i can to lessen my expenses. i know ill have to pay the ticket fine because i was clearly speeding (61 in a 45), but i already did traffic school last year so im not eligible anymore and my insurance rates will most likely sky rocket.. this is what kills me. i hear people can go to court and beg for community service to keep the POINTS OFF INSURANCE records; is this possible? and in my situation is it likely that i will be granted the opportunity? and if so WHEN do i request for it, during the INITIAL PLEA or during the TRIAL itself where the police officer is present? i know this is a lot of questions, but this is a very serious problem for me so i would like sincere and experienced people to answer my questions please. thank you in advance for any help you can offer.
i can pay the fine pretty much no problem, but the insurance rates are whats going to kill me. i need some way out of getting those points on my record to keep my insurance rates the same.

What are the ways to get a speeding ticket? How do the speed cameras work? A police officer can pull you over and give you a ticket, but is it also possible that a camera detects you and automatically mails you the ticket?

Thanks, I’m just curious :)

I was caught in a speed trap by an police officer using a radar gun resulting in a traffic ticket? Please advise of solid arguement before I see the judge next week.

I was going 60 on a 45 mph just before it turned into a 55 mph… I called the courthouse (because the fine isn’t my problem, it’s getting points on my record and having my insurance go up) and they said the only way I could have the points dropped off is to get an attorney and have a formal hearing. My sister got a ticket a couple of years ago and the police officer didn’t show up so it was thrown out of court and she didn’t get any points on her record. I was hoping this was still the case, and what should I do? I’m pretty sure the cost of a lawyer is nothing compared to what my premiums will go up to…

How much is a speeding ticket for going 85 in a 65 in California?
I was heading northbound on the 101 yesterday evening and got ticketed by a Santa Maria police officer for going 85 in a 65 zone. I have a good driving record what should I expect to pay and how does it work?

I was going 77 MPH on a 70 MPH on the highway. The SUV(Nissan Armada) next to me was agoing about 90 MPH(no lie). But I’m the one that got pulled over and got the ticket. I asked the officer if he saw the SUV that passed me, he replied "Don’t worry about him, worry about yourself and your speed". Is this because I drive a small sport cars?

When the Police officer caught me, the NIssan and my car were close to each other.

I was recently issued a speeding ticket for going 10mph over the speed limit but I know that my speedometer said that I was only going 2mph over the speed limit. The police officer didn’t believe me though. Since getting the ticket, I’ve had my car’s speedometer checked by my service center and they said that it is accurate.

I’m thinking about getting a CarChip (look it up on the internet if you don’t know what it is) and putting it in my car. And in the event that this happens again, I’m hoping that I can use it to prove what speed my car said that I’m going.

Do you think the police or the court/judge would trust the data from it?

I got pulled over today for going 73 mph in a 55mph but i had just passed someone and had not yet slowed down. Well a FDOT(Florida Department of Transportation) decided to pull me over and give me a 0 ticket! This was my first defense, i’m sixteen. Most of my friends speed regularly and if they get pulled over (by a regular police officer) they always got a warning..no matter how fast they were going. This was my first time speeding and i’m so upset. Can the fdot pull you over? I thought they could only pull over semis..

I was traveling on the 395 in California the other day, and I was pulled over by a CHP officer. He claims I was traveling at 85 mph. On the ticket, it says he used radar, but the speed is marked at 80+. This seems contradictory. My question is if he was using radar, shouldn’t he have to provide a specific speed? And could I send a written statement to the court notifying them of this? Would it get me out of the ticket?

Also, he never showed me the actual radar. I’ve heard that police officers are supposed to show you the radar if they use it to get your speed.
#1 If he was sitting there using radar, it wouldnt have given him multiple speeds. My dad is a police officer and he was saying that when he marks radar, at his department he can’t put down an ambiguous number like that.

#2 On the ticket, he marked that he used radar, not that he paced me. If he really used the radar, then he should have an exact speed.

#3 As much as I love whining, the town is 6 hours away, I can’t go to court to fight it, I wanted to send in some kind of written statement with the bail. The back of the ticket says something about being able to do that.

I am a minor with a legal license. Today I was driving home with both of my parents from having an Easter lunch with my grandparents (one day early, it was convenient) and was traveling 60 mph (59, actually, but lets round) in the left-hand lane of a high speed highway. (I would eventually have to be in that lane anyway, because the right-hand went somewhere I didn’t want to go.) The normal speed limit on that road is 65, but because of road work, it was reduced to 55 and hadn’t returned to normal yet. Several cars proceeded to pass me on the right at SEVENTY mph, and, due to this, even if I had wanted to return to the right lane, it would have been very difficult without accelerating to a speed at which either my parents would grow angry or I would feel uncomfortable and unlawful at. By chance, a police cruiser arrived behind me and promptly pulled me over, perplexing both myself and my parents. He proceeded to write a ticket for "traveling at cruising speed in a fast/passing lane" (the ticket said "slow moving vehicle failed to move to right lane"). Not only was I OVER the speed limit, but I was in poor conditions to make the desired shift, and if I had chosen to accelerate to do so anyway, he could have lawfully given me a speeding fine.

Now that the situation and reason have been established, here is my question: What do the Florida traffic laws state about the maximum speed one may go in the left lane in order to pass a vehicle in the right lane, or what is a website at which I could find or inquire about this information? I am concerned about the legitimacy of my ticket, as are my parents.

(Aside, what kind of police officer ENCOURAGES a teenage driver to accelerate regularly when she is already five over the posted limit? Christ!)

Note: I don’t want dumb obvious answers like YOU ADMIT GUILT AND ITS GOOD GAME FROM THERE. If that’s what you want to write your wasting my time. I was going 81 on a 65 when i was really going around maybe 77 i think the police officer bumped me up into that bracket, cause their is a 16 over bracket. but besides that i live in california, and this is my first speeding ticket and will be my last as i did learn my lesson, i am a college student and insurance is going to cost me a lot. I already have done traffic school, for doing a rolling stop on a stop sign (14 months ago), so that option is closed for me, someone has informed me that if i dress up, go to court, and admit guilt but plea that it was stupid of me to go fast and to make that mistake , that i can request that this may not go on my driving record by me doing traffic school again. So I’m wondering is it possible to plea for this, and what are the chances that traffic courts in california will allow a college student to at least take traffic school to avoid havin this ticket on my record, i also have heard if he is even more kind, that the judge just might let me off with a warning, and since this is my 2nd ticket, I don’t have a raging driving record that shows that I am out of control.

Hey guys I got a ticket for going 84mph on a 65mph freeway. The police officer left one letter out of my MIDDLE name. I was wondering if I can contest this ticket and not have to pay.

My name for example is: Jason John Cambel
The name on the ticket is: Jason Joh Cambel

Thanks!

I was on the highway and i got pulled over, and the police officer wrote me a ticket(he only took my license). But isn’t it mandated by law to ask the driver for his license, registration and insurance. If he wasn’t following procedures could I use that in court. One other thing, the citation that he actually wrote was wrong as well. The officer wrote that i was doing 81 on 60mph zone, but in reality the speed limit posted there wasn’t 60 at all. It was in fact 65, could I somehow use that in court too?
