i got a speeding ticket! what can i do? :(?
i live in sacramento, california and i just got a speeding ticket this morning on my way to school. im a college student and my financial situation isnt doing very well so i want to do anything i can to lessen my expenses. i know ill have to pay the ticket fine because i was clearly speeding (61 in a 45), but i already did traffic school last year so im not eligible anymore and my insurance rates will most likely sky rocket.. this is what kills me. i hear people can go to court and beg for community service to keep the POINTS OFF INSURANCE records; is this possible? and in my situation is it likely that i will be granted the opportunity? and if so WHEN do i request for it, during the INITIAL PLEA or during the TRIAL itself where the police officer is present? i know this is a lot of questions, but this is a very serious problem for me so i would like sincere and experienced people to answer my questions please. thank you in advance for any help you can offer.
i can pay the fine pretty much no problem, but the insurance rates are whats going to kill me. i need some way out of getting those points on my record to keep my insurance rates the same.
Please advise of a way to get out of a moving violation, radar gun?
I was caught in a speed trap by an police officer using a radar gun resulting in a traffic ticket? Please advise of solid arguement before I see the judge next week.
Speeding ticket in Michigan?
I was going 60 on a 45 mph just before it turned into a 55 mph... I called the courthouse (because the fine isn't my problem, it's getting points on my record and having my insurance go up) and they said the only way I could have the points dropped off is to get an attorney and have a formal hearing. My sister got a ticket a couple of years ago and the police officer didn't show up so it was thrown out of court and she didn't get any points on her record. I was hoping this was still the case, and what should I do? I'm pretty sure the cost of a lawyer is nothing compared to what my premiums will go up to...
How much is a speeding ticket for going 85 in a 65 in California?
How much is a speeding ticket for going 85 in a 65 in California?
I was heading northbound on the 101 yesterday evening and got ticketed by a Santa Maria police officer for going 85 in a 65 zone. I have a good driving record what should I expect to pay and how does it work?
Question to State Policemen. Speeding ticket?
I was going 77 MPH on a 70 MPH on the highway. The SUV(Nissan Armada) next to me was agoing about 90 MPH(no lie). But I'm the one that got pulled over and got the ticket. I asked the officer if he saw the SUV that passed me, he replied "Don't worry about him, worry about yourself and your speed". Is this because I drive a small sport cars?
When the Police officer caught me, the NIssan and my car were close to each other.
Will police or judges consider data from a CarChip when contesting a speeding ticket?
I was recently issued a speeding ticket for going 10mph over the speed limit but I know that my speedometer said that I was only going 2mph over the speed limit. The police officer didn't believe me though. Since getting the ticket, I've had my car's speedometer checked by my service center and they said that it is accurate.
I'm thinking about getting a CarChip (look it up on the internet if you don't know what it is) and putting it in my car. And in the event that this happens again, I'm hoping that I can use it to prove what speed my car said that I'm going.
Do you think the police or the court/judge would trust the data from it?

Can they even do that???!!!?
I got pulled over today for going 73 mph in a 55mph but i had just passed someone and had not yet slowed down. Well a FDOT(Florida Department of Transportation) decided to pull me over and give me a 0 ticket! This was my first defense, i'm sixteen. Most of my friends speed regularly and if they get pulled over (by a regular police officer) they always got a warning..no matter how fast they were going. This was my first time speeding and i'm so upset. Can the fdot pull you over? I thought they could only pull over semis..
Can I get out of this speeding ticket?
I was traveling on the 395 in California the other day, and I was pulled over by a CHP officer. He claims I was traveling at 85 mph. On the ticket, it says he used radar, but the speed is marked at 80+. This seems contradictory. My question is if he was using radar, shouldn't he have to provide a specific speed? And could I send a written statement to the court notifying them of this? Would it get me out of the ticket?
Also, he never showed me the actual radar. I've heard that police officers are supposed to show you the radar if they use it to get your speed.
#1 If he was sitting there using radar, it wouldnt have given him multiple speeds. My dad is a police officer and he was saying that when he marks radar, at his department he can't put down an ambiguous number like that.
#2 On the ticket, he marked that he used radar, not that he paced me. If he really used the radar, then he should have an exact speed.
#3 As much as I love whining, the town is 6 hours away, I can't go to court to fight it, I wanted to send in some kind of written statement with the bail. The back of the ticket says something about being able to do that.
How fast can the passing lane go in a 55 MPH zone? (Florida)?
I am a minor with a legal license. Today I was driving home with both of my parents from having an Easter lunch with my grandparents (one day early, it was convenient) and was traveling 60 mph (59, actually, but lets round) in the left-hand lane of a high speed highway. (I would eventually have to be in that lane anyway, because the right-hand went somewhere I didn't want to go.) The normal speed limit on that road is 65, but because of road work, it was reduced to 55 and hadn't returned to normal yet. Several cars proceeded to pass me on the right at SEVENTY mph, and, due to this, even if I had wanted to return to the right lane, it would have been very difficult without accelerating to a speed at which either my parents would grow angry or I would feel uncomfortable and unlawful at. By chance, a police cruiser arrived behind me and promptly pulled me over, perplexing both myself and my parents. He proceeded to write a ticket for "traveling at cruising speed in a fast/passing lane" (the ticket said "slow moving vehicle failed to move to right lane"). Not only was I OVER the speed limit, but I was in poor conditions to make the desired shift, and if I had chosen to accelerate to do so anyway, he could have lawfully given me a speeding fine.
Now that the situation and reason have been established, here is my question: What do the Florida traffic laws state about the maximum speed one may go in the left lane in order to pass a vehicle in the right lane, or what is a website at which I could find or inquire about this information? I am concerned about the legitimacy of my ticket, as are my parents.
(Aside, what kind of police officer ENCOURAGES a teenage driver to accelerate regularly when she is already five over the posted limit? Christ!)
If i admit guilt to a speeding ticket, what are the chances that i can plea for it to not go on my record?
Note: I don't want dumb obvious answers like YOU ADMIT GUILT AND ITS GOOD GAME FROM THERE. If that's what you want to write your wasting my time. I was going 81 on a 65 when i was really going around maybe 77 i think the police officer bumped me up into that bracket, cause their is a 16 over bracket. but besides that i live in california, and this is my first speeding ticket and will be my last as i did learn my lesson, i am a college student and insurance is going to cost me a lot. I already have done traffic school, for doing a rolling stop on a stop sign (14 months ago), so that option is closed for me, someone has informed me that if i dress up, go to court, and admit guilt but plea that it was stupid of me to go fast and to make that mistake , that i can request that this may not go on my driving record by me doing traffic school again. So I'm wondering is it possible to plea for this, and what are the chances that traffic courts in california will allow a college student to at least take traffic school to avoid havin this ticket on my record, i also have heard if he is even more kind, that the judge just might let me off with a warning, and since this is my 2nd ticket, I don't have a raging driving record that shows that I am out of control.
Name was misspelled on speeding ticket, can I contest it?
Hey guys I got a ticket for going 84mph on a 65mph freeway. The police officer left one letter out of my MIDDLE name. I was wondering if I can contest this ticket and not have to pay.
My name for example is: Jason John Cambel
The name on the ticket is: Jason Joh Cambel
Thanks!
Got Pulled over, officer wrote me a ticket he just took my license only, is that against Florida protocols?
I was on the highway and i got pulled over, and the police officer wrote me a ticket(he only took my license). But isn't it mandated by law to ask the driver for his license, registration and insurance. If he wasn't following procedures could I use that in court. One other thing, the citation that he actually wrote was wrong as well. The officer wrote that i was doing 81 on 60mph zone, but in reality the speed limit posted there wasn't 60 at all. It was in fact 65, could I somehow use that in court too?
I just got my first speeding ticket, first point, $90 fine…?
I was going 72 in a 55, late at night on a long dark road, no one else was out except for the police officer. Obviously I should not have been going this fast, but thats not the point now. It was in Maryland, by a state trooper.
My question is, what will happen with my insurance? Will it go up?
I had my provisionals, had it for years. However, shortly after the 18 months had passed, the MVA sent me a card in the mail, saying I had to keep this little card in my wallet with my original license. The card reads: "This card reflects your conversion from a Provisional Driver's License to a Full Driver's License. This official document shall be attached to or carried with you Provisional Driver's License." So according to the MVA, I had my full license, right? But I did not show this to the officer, I forgot, mostly because I was nervous about the whole thing while it was happening.
Should I appeal? Should I go to the MVA and ask? Will my 18 month period restart? Thank you!
How can I pay my ticket?
Before I deployed to Iraq in October of 07, I received two speeding tickets in Florida. I deployed with the speeding tickets unpaid, and forgot about them completely. I returned from Iraq in January of 09. I still haven't paid the tickets.
I don't know if I have a warrant or anything, but I found out my license was suspended. I have to pay these tickets, and ASAP. I should have taken the responsibility sooner, but I couldn't remember them because I had a lot on my mind. Not a clear defense, but I don't need a defense because I am at fault regardless of the situation.
What I want to know is, how can I pay these tickets? There is no possible way for me to appear in court in person, I'm stationed quite a bit a ways away and I'm currently in a lot of training in preparing to deploy again.
I'd like to pay these tickets before I deploy, and get my Florida license reinstated. Could I just contact the court houses by phone and pay with a card, or something along those lines?
Also, there may be a warrant for my arrest in Florida now. If I do have a warrant, can I pay the tickets without being arrested? How do I find out if I have a warrant without asking a police officer (because if I do, he'd arrest me).
If I do have a warrant, and can't pay the tickets without getting arrested, could I just get a new license issued in my current state and never go to Florida again? Would the tickets/warrants eventually disapear?
I know I had a lot of questions in there, but answering them would be quite nice.
How much is my California Speeding Ticket?
I received a speeding ticket today. The police officer clocked me at 39mph in a 25mph zone around a high school. How much will my speeding ticket be?
He said I can take traffic school since I have not in the past 18months. But not sure how much my ticket will be.
What are the repercussions (if any) of going to traffic court after getting a speeding ticket, and losing?
There are several PARTS to this question. Some background... I live in Long Beach, CA and got a speeding ticket (40 in a 25 zone) back in November. In talking with people in the past I've heard that if I go to court and the police officer doesn't show then the ticket will be dismissed. I've also heard that the officers rarely show considering how many tickets they pass out.
1) Is the statement above true?
2) If I go to court rather than paying or doing traffic school immediately, is there a harsher penalty if I LOSE in court? OR, if the officer DOES show, would there be a harsher punishment for me to still try to fight the ticket? (For instance, a higher fine or the inability to take traffic school so it doesn't show on my record.)
3) Would I need to show evidence to contradict or fight my ticket or would my mere presence (and the lack of a presence of the officer) be enough to have the judge drop my ticket?
4) Would the ticket/traffic point be removed entirely from my record if the ticket was dropped in court?
Thanks for the help! Any advice from people who've been to court for a speeding ticket (and won and/or lost) as well as police officers or judges, would be greatly appreciated!!
Where can I find police requirements, if any, for “pacing” or “clocking” a vehicle in California?
In California when a police officer writes you a ticket for speeding and does not use radar of any type what meathods do they use and are there any regulations that need to be followed when using these meathods. For instance if a police officer was "pacing you" is there a minimum distance for which they must pace you before they can write you a ticket. I received a ticket for going 68 in a 40mph zone but was not going that fast. This happened at late at night and the road I was on was pretty empty and I don't remember there being any cars behind me. The next thing I know I am being pulled over for speeding. I am not sure how the police officer came up with 68mph. I am going to court to try and fight the ticket and I am trying to obtain information for my defense.
Are these blonde jokes funny?
I think they are, but do you?
Two blondes living in Oklahoma were sitting on a bench talking, and one blonde says to the other, "Which do you think is farther away.... Florida or the moon?"
The other blonde turns and says "Helloooooooooo, can you see Florida ?????"
SPEEDING TICKET
A police officer stops a blonde for speeding and asks her very nicely if he could see her license.
She replied in a huff, "I wish you guys would get your act together. Just yesterday you take away my license and then today you expect me to show it to you!"
RIVER WALK
There's this blonde out for a walk. She comes to a river and sees another blonde on the opposite bank. "Yoo-hoo!" she shouts, "How can I get to the other side?"
The second blonde looks up the river then down the river and shouts back, "You ARE on the other side."
AT THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE
A gorgeous young redhead goes into the doctor's office and said that her body hurt wherever she touched it.
"Impossible!" says the doctor. "Show me."
The redhead took her finger, pushed on her left shoulder and screamed, then she pushed her elbow and screamed even more. She pushed her knee and screamed; likewise she pushed her ankle and screamed. Everywhere she touched made her scream.
The doctor said, "You're not really a redhead, are you?
"Well, no" she said, "I'm actually a blonde."
"I thought so," the doctor said. "Your finger is broken."
BLONDE ON THE SUN
A Russian, an American, and a Blonde were talking one day. The Russian said, "We were the first in space!"
The American said, "We were the first on the moon!"
The Blonde said, "So what? We're going to be the first on the sun!"
The Russian and the American looked at each other and shook their heads. "You can't land on the sun, you idiot! You'll burn up!" said the Russian.
To which the Blonde replied, "We're not stupid, you know. We're going at night!"
FINALLY, THE BLONDE JOKE TO END ALL BLONDE JOKES!
A girl was visiting her blonde friend, who had acquired two new dogs, and asked her what their names were. The blonde responded by saying that one was named Rolex and one was named Timex. Her friend said, "Whoever heard of someone naming dogs like that?"
"HELLLOOOOOOO......," answered the blond... "They're watch dogs
can my parents find out about my speeding ticket?
can my parents find out about my speeding ticket? i'm on their insurance still, but i'm 23 years old. i got pulled over last night. i just want to know if it will show up on the insurance bill or anything...
well this is my first ticket ever. i've never had a speeding or parking ticket or anything... the police officer didn't say anything about points being put on my license, so did i get any? don't they usually tell you that kind of thing?

I got a speed contest ticket whats my best choice?
a couple days ago i was on a long street at night and i pulled on a mustang, when the light turned green we gunned it but i saw cars ahead and stopped at the end of my 2nd gear (60 mph) in a 40 mphlimit as the other guy proceeded to cut through he cars going 70+. a cop that had pulled around the corner BEHIND me saw us go and pulled me over since i slowed down. He gave me a speed contest and towed my car in an impound for 30 days. he also put i was going 60 on the ticket. I have no previous record and im 18. So i would really like some advice on whether to just plead guilty or try to defend it some way. if i plead guilty how should i request getting the fine reduced? i live on my own completely and i go to school and work full time and the impound fee is already going to be 1200 dollers, i can only imagine the ticket, please help!
im sorry, he put i was going 70 on the ticket, also i was very polite with the police officer, even after he did a full search on me, would he be in court when i go for the first appearance and could that help me?
how did he cut me a break??? he took my car for the max 30 days, how many people speed through neighborhoods where children play and not get there car taken for 30 days?
25 miles exceed speed violation, California?
My question involves a speeding ticket from the State of: California
I am 19 years old female and this is my first ticket [VC22356(b)]. I was going 95 mph on 70 mph on highway 5, which is 25 mph speeding violation.
1. I've read that 25 mph or more violators cannot take traffic school. Is it true? or is it up to the judge to decide?
2. with or without traffic school, around how much will the ticket be? (I read it is 0-350?)
3. If I submit TBD, would I have a chance to win? (is it worth a shot? Is it worth a bail money?) There was no car a mile ahead and about a mile behind of me. I was on S/B and I think the police came from N/B.
4. I'm not sure if the police officer really has a proof. I think he used radar from N/B side of I-5. Can I ask for the evidence at the court? Is it, in any way, helpful for me?
5. Will he show up even if I push the court date closer to holiday? (Labor day) or it doesn't matter and I still have to pay the ticket fee?
I'm really worried, so If you have time, please help me out...
What info does a police officer have to tell a driver when giving a speeding ticket?
This is for a story I'm writing. What would a state trooper or police officer have to say - out loud - when writing up a speeding ticket? I'm thinking there would be information about the driver's rights or options regarding how to pay or dispute the ticket. I have received tickets before, but can't really recall all that was said, and I'd like this to be as accurate as possible. Any websites I could refer to? Thanks much for any help.
A complicated Speeding ticket….?
Hello!
Please only answer if you know this!
I am a NJ driver and got a speeding ticket in NY 28 MPH over the limit.
It was a rental car that was on my Mom's name...Mom was not with me...I dont know why the Police Officer Noticed it..but anyhow, NY state gave me 6 points..and I paid all the fines....
The questions are:
1. How many points will transfer to NJ (my home town)
2. What will happen to insurance...as it was a rental car on mom's name >> ticket was issued on my License >> and I personally do not have any insurance on any car....
I am so confused....anybody??
Please help....
Thanks Geogia Peach, Trooper And SPF....I really appricate ur answers....
Trooper...I am not on my mom's policy....So what is going to happen? She just rented the car, that I was driving. How would the insurance affect if I am not on her policy and ticket was even not on her License..?....
and SPF...you know...it was 4th July....and Police officer said....she wont arrest me for driving the Mom's rented car....so there should be no arguements...as the Officer let me go...right?....
