First Speeding ticket?

I just received my first speeding ticket, 50 in a 45. Mind you I am a 17 year old with a blemish free record in the eyes of the law. What happened was that I passed a car and as soon as i entered my lane again i noticed a police officer turn around..so i panicked and turned down a dirt road and then into someone's driveway, turned my car and lights off and sat there in panic. He drove by me once shined his lights on me and then continued off. Then he drove by again walked up to my car and found me. He cited me with speeding but put a remark that says "attempt to elude traffic stop" SO my worries are how to approach this:
I may just admit responsibility with my explanantion to reduce fines and get the ticket off my record..
OR
Should i deny responsibility with these statements
1) the officer never showed me the radar gun nor do i know if he even gunned me
2)the officer had no lights nor sirens going to signal that he was going to pull me over meaning i could not eldue a traffic stop without know it was in pursuit.

Sorry it's so lenghty but I need help..Ive never done this before :/
I asked the officer what my chances were with the points he said given my record and circumstance that i could get off..idk if that helps w/ anything.

First Speeding Ticket, What to Do?

Just got my first speeding ticket after about 2 months from my drivers' license. I gotta admit that I did go 70mph on a 60mph zone. I live in Indiana. The police officer was travelling in the opposite direction and got me about 0.2 miles from the scene, when I was back at my house opening my door. =(

I gotta pay 0 and I will get 2 points on my drivers license.

A few things that I want too ask...

I live in Tippecanoe County. Is it worth it to use the Infraction Diversion Program? It will cost almost 0 but no points on my drivers license, which would contribute in buying insurance (right now using state farm)

Would it be better if I just pay the fines or should I make a deal with the prosecutor, begging for a higher fine with no points on my drivers license, or even fighting the ticket? (Yes, I did my research, you can fight it by contesting the radar gun's calibration, highway geometry, cosine rule effects, etc)

Or should I just pay the ticket given to me on the due date? (Which is, as of right now, at the bottom of my list) Ticket is due on January 5

Can i get out of this speeding ticket i recieved in my cousins neighbourhood.?

Ok, so i was picking up my cousin from his neighbourhood and then i saw the cop making a turn into the neighbourhood. I had 7 to 8 seconds to slow my speed and i believe i did. I ended up waving to the officer as we went past each other continued on my way. After a while i see him closing in on me real fast. I pulled over and he wrote me a ticket for 216 something dollars. He had clocked me doing 37 in 25 neighbourhood. I told the officer i was not going that fast.. Even my cousin can attest to that fact. Why would i not slow down , even though i had around 8 seconds to slow down and then wave to him if i was speeding. I heard moving radar is full of errors and he was accelerating after he came around in the corner and clocked me at 37, he drives a dodge charger btw , so this car can accelerate pretty fast. Also the angle between us was less around 20 to 30 percent, so i believe cosine error is what happened to me.. Can i fight this in court? I mean, how can my neighbour do this to me! I was not speeding! i might have been going 5 miles over the limit tops! I had So much time to slow down and i did! Either he got ticked off that i was waving at him or there was a mistake in the radar gun!

http://tipmra.com/new_tipmra/moving_radar_update.htm

I was wondering if i can use this defense.
Q6. Acceleration Error: Officer what is acceleration error or deceleration error? (if the officer is accelerating his speed computations will be from a lower speed for his car resulting in a higher speed for your car because the speed when the return comes in and is calculated is not the speed which the car was before the computation.)

Q3. BATCHING EFFECT: Officer, what is BATCHING EFFECT? (The Batching effect may occur if the patrol car is rapidly changing its speed while the RADAR speed measurements are being made. Some RADAR counting units may be unable to keep up with the rapidly changing speeds. Instead of using the true speed of the patrol car to measure closing speed, the counting unit may use the speed that the patrol car was traveling a few fractions of a second earlier. If the patrol car is rapidly accelerating, then its earlier speed was lower than its present true spe
I am aware, that cops dont write tickets just for the heck of it. But is it impossible to consider that it could have been a radar error?

My first speeding ticket, the cop already gave me a break?

I know that there are PLENTY of these kinds of questions already out there, but I haven't found an answer to a specific question I have. Okay so the situation was I was heading home, traveling on Highway 84 in Davis County Utah. I then made the stupid decision to speed. According to my speedometer I was going 85 MPH in a 65 MPH zone. I saw the dreaded flashing lights and was pulled over. The cop was surprisingly very kind and easy going, he informed me that he pulled me over because he clocked me at going 90 MPH. I of course did not argue with him, I was polite and cooperative. After we went through the process of giving him my license and registration etc. He came back and issued me a ticket, however he reduced my speed in question to 75 MPH so that it only showed me going 10 over the limit. This was incredibly generous of him and I'm grateful for what he did. I called the court office 5 days later (I had to wait 5 days minimum before I could do anything about it) and they told me the fine was .00. OKAY so down to my question. I'm really tight on money and honestly paying .00 is extremely burdening to my current financial situation. I've been reading online about fighting speeding tickets and mostly everybody has said that one has nothing to lose if you choose to contest a ticket. I'd do just about anything to have my fine reduced or eliminated, however I've already received a generous break from the officer that pulled me over. Would going to court seeking a fine reduction (seeming how it's my first ticket and I have 2 years of a clean driving record) be a smart thing to do? I'm worried that if I do the officer would revoke his "deal" and I'd then be charged with 90 MPH. It says right on the ticket what the radar gun recorded so it's not hidden, however in the actual speed violation he put 75 MPH. Should I just leave it be and somehow find a way to pay the fine, or go to court in hopes for a better deal? I'd prefer not to further jeopardize my situation. Thanks for listening and any help would be much appreciated.

Contesting a speeding ticket?

i received a speeding ticket in sunnyvale, california. i got caught driving 50mph in a 30mph zone. my ticket states he caught me on radar gun. i asked around to see how i can get out of paying this ticket and the responses ive heard was that if i take it to trial and the cop that gave me the ticket does not show up, then im good to go. also if the cop is a rookie, they are required to show up. the cop that pulled me over was driving a POLICE SUV driving it alone giving me the notion that he definitely is not a rookie. I would like to know, if i were to take this to trial, are my chances of that cop not showing up good or bad. im 80% sure this is all about revenue for i was not even on the gas pedal at the time and i was just cruising my car down a hill on a green light. i see that cop every now and then patrolling the same area pulling over other unsuspecting drivers. the way i see it is that maybe he just gives out as many tickets as he can and the ones that have the balls to contest it gets away but the ones that dont end up paying and bringing in more revenue. I would like another opinion on this situation. Perhaps if anyone is a cop or a friend to a cop and would like to throw in their two cents, please do so. Thanks so much

Was it fair that I had to pay $150 bail for a speeding ticket for going 2 miles over the speed limit?

I don't think I would have had a chance convincing the judge that the radar gun could have been miscalibrated.
Anyway, I took some peoples advice, & saved everyone the grief & just paid the stupid fine last week. Now I don't even have to worry about it anymore, now I'm just always paranoid whenever I get a cop car behind me or I see a bike cop.
Btw- I'm not a jerk, so haters please save your "helpful answers"...
Thank you,
Going 37 mph downtown on a nice sunny day in Redwood City Ca.
Ha Haa! Never ceases to amaze me...
Can't we all just get along?
LOL!

Unlawful Speeding Ticket?

Hey everyone...I need some help.

My boyfriend and I were driving down the freeway on the way to a family function (his brother and wife were following us in their car), when we see a Highway Patrol standing on the side of the road with a radar gun. We weren't speeding and he waved us down to pullover. We figured something must be wrong with the car (headlight out, etc.) so we pull over and ask whats wrong and he tells us we were speeding 20 miles over the limit!!! We didn't want to question the officer, but said are you sure you got the right car? He continued to write the ticket and left. If we were in the wrong, I would be more than happy to pay the ticket. But knowing that we were not speeding and that the car following us can confirm we were not speeding, I don't think we should fork over 0 and a point on our record.

How can I go about fighting this where I don't look like any normal person off the street that doesn't want to pay a ticket??

Please help :)

Can I still get a ticket for speeding?

I was driving around when I saw this cop with a radar gun. I was going maybe 15 mph over, but I didn't get pulled over. I heavily slowed down, and I didn't see the cop close his car door or anything. Can I still get a ticket?

Is this Legal? (Speeding Ticket)?

I was cited for speeding. One officer operated the radar gun and a second officer wrote the ticket. Do they both have to appear in court? Does the officer operating the radar gun have to be the one to issue the ticket? I did not see the officer with the gun show the other officer the speed. How do i fight this?

Did I get caught speeding by a radar gun?

Before I start, I know I was in the wrong!!

It was about 7:30am and I was on my way to work going through a local village, which is a good straight road, but never the less 30mph and I was exceeding that - I am not sure how much by though. Anyway I suddenly noticed a policeman with a radar gun pointing straight at me, but by the time I noticed it was too late to slow down.

The same policeman pulled over other people that morning and issued them with speeding tickets and I wondered whether that means I'm unlikely to recieve one or if I can still expect one to arrive in the post? Also, how long it usually takes to come through if I can expect one?!

I am hoping that I may have been very lucky, but my gut feeling is that the ticket will follow in the post.

Thanks for any help!

Speeding Ticket Guidance?

I got a speeding ticket in NY and i'm from VA. I was cited for speed, "not reasonable and prudent." It was a local cop (Cornwall) and they didn't get me with a radar gun and estimated my speed--not very accurate if you ask me. The blank on the ticket for the speed I was going is blank. Should I plead guilty and take the fine or plead not guilty (is there a good chance I could beat this?) If I plead not guilty, I will have trouble making a court date and I really don't want to pay a lawyer if I can beat this myself.
I got pulled over and the cop asked me how fast i was going and i kept saying the speed limit (45) and she says she estimated me going above 70 but didn't get it on radar so she couldn't be sure. I had a passenger who did not know how fast i was going.

what kind or radar detector is the best for the least money?

I keep getting speeding tickets. I need a radar detector that is reasonably priced and that works the best. I live in california so i also need one that is up to date with the radar guns of the local police. Also, do all radar detectors make the radar gun unable to read my speed? or does it just detect radar? Cause i need one that does both cause it might be too late when it is detected...

Can I still do traffic school if I fight a speeding ticket and lose?

I got my ticket in California and it's the first time I ever got a speeding ticket. I got a ticket for going 80 in a 65mph according to him. However the cop didn't have a radar gun and I wasn't clocked. He said he just followed me and looked at his own speed limit and it was 80mph. I have yet to receive my notice in the mail and it's been more than 2 weeks so I'm not sure what my options are. My main concern is that if I fight the ticket and lose, can I still do traffic school to take the point off my record? Does anyone have a link or resource that can help explain?

Thanks a bunch!

Speeding Ticket Help?

I got a speeding ticket by the Kentucky State Police in Richmond Kentucky. Here's the thing: I was NOT speeding. I don't want to get into the details, but I am going to court to contest it. Anyway, the officer said he 'clocked' me going 14 over, but there is nothing on my ticket about a radar gun. I have gotten a ticket before, and the officer wrote that I was clocked by a radar.

The only thing I could be mistaken with is that it says

MR/CC1300/1 OCC/ OV.

First of all, what does this mean? Second of all, is the officer required to write that he clocked me with a radar?

Please only answer if you know (ie, a cop or something) please don't guess. Thanks!
ok, thanks guys, but i really just want these two questions answered.
To clear up any misconceptions, no plane overhead, he was driving toward me on a straight road with a car in front of me, hit his brakes, did a u turn, and pulled me over.

Second to the person that said you shouldn't try to get out of a ticket, how do you think I got out of my last one?

Speed Limit Laws question?

Speed Limit Laws question?
Cops in Tennessee are absolutely disgusting--they purposely create speed traps that are confusing and unfair in order to rob money from hard working people. To be honest, the uncertainity in the error between my speedometer, and their radar gun probably exploits this "speed trap" even further (I have evidence to back it up).

That said, my question relates to the beginning and ending of speed limit zones. If it is true that if you are on a road that's speed limit is 45 mph, and it later drops down to 30 mph that the new speed limit takees affect after you pass the sign? Presuming that this is true, if you change roads and have not seen a posted speed limit sign can you keep on going to on the same speed that you were on the previous road because a speed limit only takes affect when you pass the sign?
That is a good answer, but does this mean that speed limits on roads are not actually the speed limit until the sign is posted? Does the understood speed limit exist until the posted speed limit? Not in practice but by definition of the law.

speeding ticket – before or after passing the police?

I was wondering I was speeding about 20-30kms over tonight and when I seen the police on the side of the road hiding I put on my breaks and passed him doing the speed limit. However he had his lights on ready to pull me over but put them off when I passed him at the speed limit. I live in Ontario and was wondering with a radar gun does it count before or after passing the police to get the ticket?

Pleading Not Guilty to a Speeding Ticket?

I was going 53 in a 40 zone, and the COP caught me and along with another car, and the other car was going even faster, and I, following traffic went 53 :( .

Anyways, the COP pulled both of us over and I was just wondering, if a radar gun can detect both of us, or even possibly mis-calibrate my car with the other car.

I know I should pay the fine, but whats the difference between pleading Guilty, No Contest, and Not Guilty. In financial terms, such as the fine and insurance costs, which course of action would be best? I think I could have a good case with choosing "Not Guilty".
One more thing, the COP motorcycle was on my side across the street, and on my street. So he was never directly behind me, only the faster car. He signaled me to pull over, can he have an accurate radar measurement with that in mind?

Did I just get a speeding ticket?

On my way to the supermarket today a cop was standing outside of his car with his laser speeding gun. I drove by with no problem and do not believe i was speeding buttt i freak out about these kind of things. Is there any way i could get a ticket mailed to to my house by a radar gun? Wouldnt he have hopped into his cop and stopped me if i was speeding?

what does “stationary” means in speeding ticket?

I got a ticket by a cop using a hand held radar gun, but on the tickets, "stationary" is checked. He was standing outside of his car with the unit.
does he need to clock me with a certain angle, at which he calibrated his gun. He was pointing the gun right in front(160-170 degree) of my driving direction. I rarely see cop doing that, is that legal?
