So I just got this speeding ticket from the Metropolitan Police in Washington DC that shows a picture of the rental car I had right after I picked up the car. So I don’t deny it but I was just wondering if I really have to pay this. I was going 43mph in a 30mph zone and the fine is .
I live in California and I was driving my friends rental car to Arizona, I was speeding and those suv radars flashed me. My question is, around how much will the ticket cost? Do those suv radars take a picture of the driver? The problem is that I wasn’t under the rental contract so I shouldn’t have been driving in the first place. What I want to do is just pay my friend so he can send the check in. Also, will they request for the driver to appear in court? Im really worried :/
Hello!
Please only answer if you know this!
I am a NJ driver and got a speeding ticket in NY 28 MPH over the limit.
It was a rental car that was on my Mom’s name…Mom was not with me…I dont know why the Police Officer Noticed it..but anyhow, NY state gave me 6 points..and I paid all the fines….
The questions are:
1. How many points will transfer to NJ (my home town)
2. What will happen to insurance…as it was a rental car on mom’s name >> ticket was issued on my License >> and I personally do not have any insurance on any car….
I am so confused….anybody??
Please help….
Thanks Geogia Peach, Trooper And SPF….I really appricate ur answers….
Trooper…I am not on my mom’s policy….So what is going to happen? She just rented the car, that I was driving. How would the insurance affect if I am not on her policy and ticket was even not on her License..?….
and SPF…you know…it was 4th July….and Police officer said….she wont arrest me for driving the Mom’s rented car….so there should be no arguements…as the Officer let me go…right?….
Recently one of those cameras took a picture of me going 75 in a 65 in a rental car. Does anyone know if Arizona has reciprocity with California? Or can I just pay the ticket and not worry about traffic school? Thank you.
I am from out of state and was speeding in Florida (100 in a 55) a rental car. I am aware that the speed I was going is dangerous, and I am glad nothing worse happened. I agree it was stupid.
My ticket is labeled "Manditory Court Appearance". I wonder what may be my punishment. Is jail time something that could be assessed during court (the officer did not put me in jail when he pulled me over)? What is the most likely penalty? Since I am out of state, it’s hard for me to appear in person – can I have a lawyer attend for me? What if I don’t show up to court at all, can I ever come back to FL without going to jail?
OK – I rented a car in DC and I just got a speeding ticket in the mail from the DC photo enforcement office. It says I was going 6 miles over the speed limit. It has a picture of the rental car but how the heck does that prove I was speeding. I would like to contest this but I don’t live anywhere near DC so the expense of going down there to fight it would be more than the ticket but it just doesn’t seem fair. Any advice?
It would be unfair because how does a picture of a license plate prove that I was speeding. If it was a picture of me going through a red light and there was proof, I wouldn’t argue.
Got a speeding ticket in New York State, will it go on my insurance as points if I live in Maryland?
I got a speeding ticket in a rental car in New York State. Now I am a maryland resident, will I get points against my insurance and license? This is my first ticket ever and I am a state farm customer. Thanks!
My wife and I are California residents, but we are in Hawaii on vacation and she got a speeding ticket on a rental car. If she paid the ticket, would that still go on her record? Is it better to try to contest it and see what the judge says? Is it even possible to go to driving school, or is that an option only when you get a ticket in some states? This is her first ticket and I hate to see it affect her insurance rates.
I live in Michigan and have a Michigan drivers license. While in California I received a speeding ticket for 0 (in a rental car).
My due date is 12/3/08. I have the option of an extension by phone but 1)is that an extention for a court date or 2)is that an extension to pay?
I tried to call but the number is always busy.
So, can I request and get an extension to pay the fine over the phone?
I am from out of state with out of state DL on a rental car. Got pulled over for speeding (62 on 35 mph, Farm road). My licence is a Tx licence and I was pulled over in New Jersey. Do I need a lawyer or I can fight that myself since this is my first ticket after seven years. I am not sure how the point system works on a different state licence. I never been to the court for speeding ticket and not sure how to approach it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
A friend rented a car while visiting in AZ (we are both from different states). I was driving it, and apparently was speeding. She got a photo speeding ticket. She can say she was not the driver, but I wasn't listed as a driver on the rental car. Will this be shared with my home state and get on my record? What can I do to get it dismissed. I live out of state and can't appear in court.
I am planning to get a Car and wanted to reduce my auto insurance.
5 Months back I received a speeding ticket on a rented car. And I was driving with an International license. I will be getting an ontario G2 license soon. Just wanted to know whether I should claim that I had a speeding ticket to the auto insurance company, i.e. will it show on my record cause it was on an international license plus it was a rental car.
I recently received a speeding ticket in Puerto Rico (yesterday, going 71 in a 65). Should I pay this ticket? I was driving a rental car from AVIS. I live in Michigan who is not part of the state compact on speeding tickets. What will happen if i don't? Will my insurance go up? Will my passport be "marked"? I only have 3 more days here please HELP!!!!!!
I got an out of state speeding ticket in Hawaii last week with a rental car and I know I won't be back to go to court. How do I take traffic school here in California and how do I know if Hawaii will share insurance information with my state? Thanks
Thanks. I basically want to know if I would still be eligible to take traffic school here in California even though I got an out of state ticket.
I just heard that some states share DMV records and insurance information with each other, and some don't; leaving me to think that if I just made the payment, I will not get a point on my driving record and my insurance premium would not raise. I was wondering if this was true or not?
Hope that helps a little more. Thanks.
