Hi i just received a speeding ticket earlier today for going 15 over the speed limit. I am 19 (20 in 12 days), live in Missouri (and thats where i got the ticket) . I am just wondering how many points will i lose on my license as a result of this? On a side note i leave for basic training in two weeks so i am just going to have to pay it as i highly doubt that i have time get to a lawyer and all that to get it taken care of. I’m 17 and I caught a speeding ticket tonight. I was going 11 mph over the speed limit. I thought I was driving in a 70 speed zone, but it was 65. How much will my ticket and insurance cost?

Hi, I am a junior operator in Massachusetts (17 years old, going to be 18 in 20 days) and last night I was pulled over for speeding. The officer issued me a 0 ticket stating that I was traveling 59 MPH in a 30 MPH zone. The ticket says it was clocked on radar, but it also says he estimated my speed to be between 55-60 mph. I was travelling in an area where the speed limit was not posted, and about 1/4 mile from where I was stopped, the speed limit is 50. This is also an area I am not familiar with (i live 40 miles away from where I was stopped). As far as I am aware, my speed never approached more than 40 mph before I was pulled over. My question- do you think i can win the appeal? Also, If I am convicted after appealing, and I am 18 years old when I am convicted, will I lose my license for 90 days as a junior operator, or pay the ticket like an adult would have to?

I was in the university parking lot and a police officer tells me to stop for speeding. He said I was going 35 mph in the parking lot. The speed limit is 5 mph. He didn’t have me on radar he said it was his estimate. Is there a way to beat this. This happened in California. Is there any special plead that will make this go away?

one thing is that it was cloudy and rainy, i challenged his calibration of his radar and he wrote the wrong direction i was going on the ticket so what question should i ask to prove the cop was in the wrong when he pulled me over. i was going the speed limit when he pulled me over. he was going the opposite direction went a half a mile down the road then turned around to pull me over.

I usually go 7 or 8 miles above the speed limit…

The radar said the speed limit was 30mph but I was going 31mph then a slowed down to 27 mph will I get a ticket in the mail?

I was pulling out of a parking spot and before i was even 20ft from my parking spot i was pulled over. the officer claims that i sounded like i was speeding. I have a lout car, but, i was in second gear. the speed limit was 45mph. I wasn’t even close to going that speed. I got a ticket. my attorney says he could have it dropped for probable cause. Is it legal to pull someone over for that reason?

I got a speeding ticket a month ago and the ticket still hasn’t been filed. My hearing date was today so I still mailed in the form to contest the ticket and get a court date.
Is the ticket still valid?
The officer didn’t even write the posted speed limit on my ticket and for some reason where he wrote my speed, he didn’t use the carbon copy paper. Everywhere else he used the carbon copy and what he wrote on his copy transferred to the carbon copy. But, he wrote in actual pen on the carbon copy for just my speed. Does what I wrote even make sense? lol

I was pulled over and was clocked doing 56 on a 40 zone. This is my first ticket ever, I am 31 years old. It seems that the officer didn’t like me since he put my speed 16 miles over the speed limit wherein, on his discretion, he can lower it down if he wanted to. I am driving a modified car and was even asked to pop the hood, he said he will let all my modifications slide but not my speeding.

I do not intend to fight the ticket since it will only cause more trouble in my opinion. What should I do? Should I wait for my court date before I settle this citation? Can I just go to court before the stated court date and pay/settle everything?

Say if I wait for the court date and try to contest the ticket, will it be worth it?

How much fine am I looking at if I plead guilty? How much does traffic school cost?

On the CODE AND SECTION part of the ticket it says 22350 and he wrote down the letter " L " as well and encircled it. What does the letter " L " mean?

Here’s the situation:

In Jan 2009, around 1pm, high noon, weekday, EMPTY road, no traffic, no cars parked, very wide two way road, 4 lanes total, I was driving down a long winding rode in Daly City, CA, Guadalupe Canyon Expressway, speed limit 45mph going around 45-50 as I go down the hill, I see the police officer on his bike on the left side like 30 feet away. Naturally, I slow down and approach the stop sign coming up, full stop naturally. As I finish my stop, the cop, who was to the left of me, immediately pulls up behind me, and says I was speeding up in a school zone?! He then writes a speed limit of 50mph on my ticket. Naturally I am very pissed.

I got to court and the judge says I am not eligible for traffic school because I had a stop sign citation earlier last year….he asks me if I want to settle or fight it. I opted to fight. Was that a good idea? I have no exp fighting an officer in court. Anyways, my court date is in June 2009, hoping that he either doesn’t show or his memory is fuzzy.

i know I slowed down to 25 within the school zone, i was going down fast but no so fast that it was dangerous….but he said that I was speeding up in the school zone??? what do u guys think?

I was pulled over for going 60 mph in a 45 mph zone. There was medium to heavy traffic. Clear day. I really don’t think that I was speeding, though. At least not that fast I usually run about 5 miles over the speed limit. I also don’t believe that the officer was at a complete stop when she took the reading. The device used was a radar machine. Should I go to court or pay the fine 5.

so i was an a 40 mph road and changed to another and there was no sign of change but to be cautious i went at 30. the cop passes me and then i get to the end of the street and he is there. he tells me i was speeding and i said impossible cause i was goung 30 mph. he said you are not from around here and that the speed limit is 25. i give him liscence and registration then he comes back. i asked him where the speed limit was for the road and he said he is not telling and i should go look for it. then he told me his radar said i was going 37 mph. on the ticket nothing is stated about a radar as the mechanism for getting my speed and a little box says radar signature and there is nothing there. i know as a fact i was going 30.

I got a speeding ticket this morning. It was 35 mph. The officer said he radar me at 53mph. Then when he gave me a ticket he said he changed the speed to 45mph to save me some money. On my ticket it said speed approximately 45mph but radar is 53mph. What is that mean? Does it mean the speed limit i was suppose to be going was 45mph? Please help….plus how much will my ticket be if i live in california? Thanks

SO… I got pulled over last night trying to beat my curfew. It was like 2minutes from my house and there was no traffic. I got a ticket for doing a 77 in a 45. Yea, thot it was a 55 and that I was doing 70 but it doesn’t matter does it?? So i have a court date the 17th of march. Is there anyway I can get out of this? I got my license 6months ago. Never been pulled over before or got into an accident and I never speed. This was the only time, and I got caught!!! I’m responsible, I just can’t wait another 9months til I’m 18 to get my license again, really, my bf lives like 30min away and he’s already upset we can barely see eachother. Please help. My dad talked to a cop thats his friends and said if I was 18 I could have been in serious trouble. He thinks my license will be taken away til I’m 18, and I’ll be doing community service, and on a 2year probation!!! WTF?? 77 in a 45 is 22 miles over the speed limit, but I swear I was doin 70, which is below 20?? does that make a difference?? What do I say and do in court? How do I act, play dumb and plead guilty??
ahh, did i mention that there were two cops and that means two witnesses soooo its guaranteed one of them will show up in court!!

On the first day of my vacation I got a speeding ticket in Sarasota, FL. I live in another state, Connecticut and was driving a rental. Do I still have to pay it? The cop told me I could take an online driving safety course to avoid my insurance company from finding out. Can someone link me to the site I need to go to. If I lived there I would contest the ticket in court but since I’m leaving in a week I can’t.

I’m mad about the ticket because I feel like it was an honest mistake and the cop took advantage of me. I had no idea what the speed limit was or how fast I was going and wasn’t in a rush, just following the car in front of me. I was driving in an area I’ve never been in, at night, on a long straight road, without any houses, there were very few posted speed signs, my vision focused forward not at the signs, and my gps navigation said the speed limit was 55, and I was driving a new rental that went faster than my own car.

Btw, the ticket was 60 in a 45, and the fine 6.

I got a speeding ticket for going 34mph over the speed limit. (60mph going 94)
And actually i didn’t even get a ticket for it yet. I have to go to court.
So i’m just wondering what is going to happen to me?

I recently got a ticket for speeding that I am definitely contesting. The officer was parked on private property off the road I was driving on shooting radar on vehicles passing down a hill. He was obscured from drivers view by a large pile of tree limbs that were right in front of him. He pulled me over saying I was going 54. I never exceeded 40mph down the hill. The speed limit was 35 but I like accuracy when it comes to paying the fine. I have been told by law enforcement folks both active and retired that they were always trained to never shoot radar at cars from behind a billboard, off the road, or from another adjacent road because court decisions have overturned speeding tickets that way and if presented in court the court will drop it. I looked through the decisions from the circuit court in my area but have been unable to find it. I have some other circumstances to contest in court but I am wondering if where he was at is a legal place to get radar from. I do not want to bring up their advice without having another basis other than opinion. I am also not wanting to sound petty in court. I will pay the fine if found guilty but I want my speed to be reflected correctly if I have to pay it.

i got a speed contest 23109a ticket it says i was going 70 on a 30mph zone but he didnt have a radar so the oficer assumed i was going 70 my question is for this do i have to pay 2 seprate fines or is it just one ?what i mean by 2 seprate fines is do i have to pay a fine for "going 70 mph" on a 35 mph zone and another fine for the speed contest?or is it just one whole thing?

add on:yes the cop did guess i was going 70 because the guy that got pulled over with me his ticket said he was going 50 and we where right next to each other

When I entered the freeway i squeeled my tires a bit then proceeded on the highway at 75 that had a speed limit of 65. The cop saw everything, when he pulled me over he said that he could write me up for several violations, such as wreckless driving, but only wrote me up for exibition of speed. The ticket states I was doing 30 plus on a posted 45 but I was on the highway. Does the onramp have a speed limit of 45. He has no radar, lasar, or pace on my ticket checked. If i plead not guilty can he bring up the other things when i go to court. This is also my first ticket of anykind. Should the judge offer a plea bargain to drop it to a civil, or do I ask him/her if then can because i really would rather not go to court, and do the offer this plea bargain if i say i am guilty or not guilty. I do not know much about the whole court system, i just really dont want my insurance to go up and have a criminal record.

The cop came from way behind him and was speeding just to get to my boyfriend who was maybe going 5 over and has a mitsubishi eclipse. He did not turn on his radar until my boyfriend braked to turn onto his street and by that point he would have been going under the speed limit (boyfriend has a radar detector). When the cop pulled him over he was told he had been going 58 in a 40. My boyfriend then asked to see the radar and the cop said he’d cleared it right after he pulled him over. The cop was a complete prick and once he got home my boyfriend realized the cop hadn’t even put the right street names on the ticket and had left a couple of other sections blank. My boyfriend wants to take him to court because he doesn’t feel he did anything wrong. I told him to call the Sheriff’s office and make a complaint. Is there something else we don’t know about that? Would this be considered harrassment? Any ideas about what else to do?

Hi I got a ticket speeding ticket from a cop last night.I was driving and before he even saw my car he walked in the middle of the street and waved a lit stick and told me to pull over.I asked the cop what I did wrong he said I was going 51 in a 35 mile hr zone.I thought back to when the cop stood in from of my car from a distance and waved the lit stick for me to slow down.I slowed down right away and I was only going the speed limit cuz I slowed down too easy so I knew I wasn’t speeding.He wrote me a ticket for 151.00 and it said on the citation that the cop didn’t use radar to detect my speed.
So this cop obviously was setting me up to make money for giving me a ticket.What can I do about this?
On my ticket he said he didn’t use radar but another kind of equipment with a serial # on my ticket.Do cops use any other equipment besides radar to detect speeding?

The other day I was at the intersection red light pulled next to a cop. When the light turned green I was tempted to speed up to 45 mph quicker than him (not over 45). I wouldn’t spin the tires but I would have just accelerated past him.

Would this get me a ticket? Alot of people drive so slow around cops and even when you are going the speed limit the cops tailgate you it’s annoying

I got a speeding ticket. The posted speed limit is 35 MPH on the ticket in the radar box the officer marked 35. for the posted speed limit he marked 35 as well. however for my approximate speed he marked 50. does the 35 marked in the radar box on the ticket mean that he clocked me by radar and it read 35mph?
