How To Beat A Speeding Ticket Avoiding, Contesting and Beating Speeding Tickets

I got my 1st speeding ticket. I was 51 in a 35 and cop got me by pacing me. How much will this cost me?

Cop got me by pacing me. He followed me out of bar and was in the next lane on 2 lane street. I needed to get over to that lane he was in, but he was keeping up the same pace as I was so I went faster to get ahead of him. Then I realized I was way over speed limit so I slowed down. The car got behind me and turned on flashers. Didnt even know it was a cop. Is this entrapment because he kept same pace and I couldnt get over and because I was coming from a bar? Breathalized me and there was nothing. Also, the ticket didnt have a fine, only a court date. And what about points and insurance? I have no idea whats going on, its my first ticket. Someone tell me something please!

can a 17 year old male get out of a speeding ticket in Ohio?

My friend recently got a ticket when I was in the car. The speed limited was 55 but he had his cruise control set on 60. However the cop said that she clocked him in at 72. On the ticket she wrote down that he was going 70. Although he was still speeding...that extra 10mph could be the difference in a large amount of money for a 17 year old hischooler with a minimum wage job. Another this is...As she allowed us to go she said "you need to follow the speed limit, slow down about 8mph." I believe that shows that he couldnt have possible been going more than 63. I believe he could have a case about how the cop was unable to provide accurate evidence. But, I have heard rumors that in Ohio anyone under the age of 18 is not given a chance to explain or say anything oter than "yes" or "no" in their court hearing. Is there any possible way for him being 17 to get out of this? (also if it helps...the cop used a radar to clock him in)

Is this a ridiculous speeding ticket or what? What can I expect the fine to be?

Alright I am 19 years old at UCI and have never gotten in trouble with the law or received any kind of traffic citation.

So it's 2:30 p.m. on a Saturday. I'm going southbound on the 405, heading to Irvine with my girlfriend. Driving was smooth, there wasn't any traffic whatsoever. So I take the carpool lane and drive with the flow of the traffic, going 75. I see a highway patrol car and I drive at the same speed, still along with the flow of the traffic. He drives next to me for a moment and then slows down and because he slowed down, naturally I would pass him. All of a sudden he turns on his lights and pulls me over. During this time, I was thinking, "Okay, I wasn't even driving that fast...so what could this be?"

So the officer says I was going over the speed limit (65). He goes on and on about how he was "testing" me by seeing if I would pass him or not. He then says he clocked me at 76 mph. WOW. 76 on the carpool lane with NO traffic from both sides front and back!? I asked him, "Was I even driving recklessly?" And he said, "No you were just speeding." It was useless trying to argue with him. I wasn't going to get off with a warning, that was for sure.

So now I have a speeding ticket for going 76 in a 65 zone. Yeah, I went over the speeding limit. But what the hell, this is just ridiculous.

Alright, so I'm pretty much asking...

What can I expect the fine to be?
Can I get it reduced?
If so, how?
Should I even contest the ticket?

Any information that might help me would be appreciated. I'm just at a lost as to why this had to happen. I'm a college student! I don't need to be paying for things like this!
Hmm, I can't seem to find the amount of the fine on the citation.

Alright alright. I get it. I was completely at fault. It's just ridiculous because others get away with worst and...I don't know, I just feel like the guy was targeting me from the beginning.

So now I'm wondering what are the procedures to get into traffic school so that I can get a point erased from the record. Or do I have to wait something to come in the mail?

I got a reckless driving ticket for speeding in AL, What can I do?

I got a reckless driving ticket for speeding. He said I was going really fast and he had to go 90 to catch up to me which implies I was going under that. The speed limit was 50 and the lane I was in was clear with no intersections in the way. Yes, I was driving too fast, I feel so bad. Is there a way I can plea bargain or anything to reduce the reckless driving to careless driving? Or can I qualify for driving school or community service to lower the ticket or get it off my record? I just dont want to go to jail....

Help contesting a speeding ticket..?

In December I was going over the speed limit in a school zone. By the time the officer came to my window I had time to look around and notice that I was in a school zone. When the officer came to my window he asked "Do you know how fast you were going?". I told the officer "I was unaware it was a school zone". That morning, I was 45 minutes away from the area I live at, there was dense fog, and I was going the regular speed limit (the speed limit if it wasn't a school zone). I told my internship (the place I was headed to) about the situation and they told me to contest it. They also mentioned that the school zone I was pulled over at had no flashing lights and I should mention that I'm not familiar with the area (the day I was pulled over was my second day at the internship). What do you think of the situation?
I should also mention I never contested a ticket before and any tips will help. Thanks!

Texas CDL suspended for one speeding ticket?

I just got my first speeding ticket ever. I went to the Municipal Court and the judge told me if I pay the fine (which is basically pleading guilty) my license will be suspended. I asked him, "For one ticket?" He said yes and that I should get an attorney. I can't find the law concerning CDL drivers getting their licenses suspended for speeding tickets. I did read on two websites that it takes 2 violations within 3 years. Is there any way I can get rid of my CDL because I haven't used it in almost 2 years and don't plan on using it again. I only used it for a few months in the first place. I don't qualify for community service, defensive driving, or deferred adjudication because of my CDL.
I found the Texas code. It says 3 serious violations in 3 years. I'm going to call Austin to verify. Why would a judge tell me that or how could he not know?
I was going 18 mph over the speed limit. 15 mph over the speed limit is a serious CDL violation. It still takes 3 of those to get your license suspended. I think the next level is going 25 mph over the speed limit.

Why doesn’t Carl Crawford have a speeding ticket yet?

I mean, he is just soo fast, they must give him one soon. How fast is he running, it is probably over the speed limit. Because if his speed, my Jays may lose now too :( .
Like swear to god, if he was drunk he would get caught for DUI, while walking.
He should have joined the Olympics, not baseball.

should i fight this speeding ticket?

i live in connecticut and got a speeding ticket in Mass where i go to school. I was getting off i-84 when arriving in mass(65mph is the limit on 84) and was caught going "61mph" in a 45 zone on the exit ramp. He showed up behind me about 2/3 a mile down the road from where he was (state trooper).

I didn't think i was going that fast and the speed limit goes from 65-45-50 all in less than half a mile, to be honest i think i was targeted because i was out of state because i was basically going with traffic in the other lane when i was merging off the ramp

on my ticket he checked off radar and put an S next to it and checked off estimated aswell, i don't know what that means. I am 20 and have a clean record, do you think i should fight it, the ticket was 0(he said he gave me a break because it was confusing)...if so any tips?

Will police or judges consider data from a CarChip when contesting a speeding ticket?

I was recently issued a speeding ticket for going 10mph over the speed limit but I know that my speedometer said that I was only going 2mph over the speed limit. The police officer didn't believe me though. Since getting the ticket, I've had my car's speedometer checked by my service center and they said that it is accurate.

I'm thinking about getting a CarChip (look it up on the internet if you don't know what it is) and putting it in my car. And in the event that this happens again, I'm hoping that I can use it to prove what speed my car said that I'm going.

Do you think the police or the court/judge would trust the data from it?

How does a Misdemeanor (reckless driving ticket) in VA is translated into a MD resident driving record?

Hi, thank you in advance for your help on this one.
I drive a Dodge Charger 2008, I'm sure you know how easy is to drive at an insane speed on one of them. I was going to Orlando FL from MD when a traffic patrol stopped me just near to the border between VA and NC near the city of Emporia, the speed limit was at 65 MPH and the officer said I was going at 82 MPH, he gave me a ticket without an amount and ask me to go online and pay the fine, when I went back to MD, went online and saw my ticket and the word "infraction" on it, called the court and asked my fine, my fine is 1.00 which is alright to me, but then next day when I was ready to pay my fine online I realized they changed the word to "misdemeanor" I went online and search about this and found reckless driving (misdemeanor) in VA gives you 6 points and maybe 6 months in jail. I'm a resident of MD how this affects me and should I pay the fine or just go to court and what to do there, how serious is this for my clean record. Please help. Thanks.

Can you get a ticket for driving nine miles over the speed limit?

Technically, the ticket writes a person up for going ten mph over the speed limit. Is that too risky? Is five mph over the speed limit a good bet instead?

Issued a speeding ticket during Lidar training?

I was issued a speeding ticket while the cops were doing Lidar training. (So, the officer running the Lidar was a newbie, and the officer that actually issued me the citation was more experienced.) Will this fact help me if I decide to contest it in court? Or should I not even bother? (They said I was going 7 mph over the speed limit.) This occured in Kansas. If it's not worth fighting in court, how do I go about trying to get it reduced, or cutting a deal, so it does not go on my insurance record? Thanks.

i just got a speeding ticket for the first time… can someone please help me?

I was driving home from the movies yesterday around 4am in the morning. Since there were no cars around in the freeway I drove around 80-85mph when all of a sudden I saw red lights behind me. I've never been pulled over in my life and I've had my license for almost 10 months. The officer asked how fast I was going and I just said "i'm guessing around 80mph." He said speed limit was 65 and he wrote me a citation of 80mph.

Is there anything i should be concerned about? And what do i have to do after i get a speeding ticket for the first time?

Thanks all..

Speeding ticket driving through Oregon, I live in California, can I keep off record?

I was driving from WA to CA and got a speeding ticket about halfway through oregon on 1-5. The cop said I was going 80 at a 60 area. The reason for me speeding was that I-5 kept switching from 65 to 60 mph. I must have mistakenly thought I was in a 65mph area. Also, I later noticed that the truck (not mine) speedometer is off by about 5mph... So while I thought I was going 75mph, I was actually going 80mph. So this is a combination of keeping up with traffic (I was going only a hair faster than traffic), loosing track of the speed limit, and my speedometer being off. Anyways. So I got a ticket, and I really can't afford a ticket, much less the insurance premium hike up (I am unemployed and very poor right now). The whole reason we even drove those god-awful 1100 miles was to save money. I am more concerned with the ticket going on my record, as this will affect my insurance rate. Any suggestions on how I can reduce or eliminate this ticket? Any advice much appreciated. Thanks. PS. I am otherwise a good driver.
Im not making excuses, Im just being as thorough as possible for those actually interested in offering advice.

And the speedometer being off took me by surprise... Its not my car, so I had no idea. I mean, when he gave me the ticket I was kind of pissed, cuz when he pointed the laser gun at me, I immediately looked down and my speedometer was mid 70s... I assumed he had rounded up, but later on we drove past one of those "your speed is" and noticed that our speedometer was off by about 5 mph...

Speed Traps…Will they Ticket me?

Residential speed in Mesa, Az is 25 miles an hour. I was doing 27 when I was flashed by a Speed Radar Van. Technically, I was 2 miles over the speed limit, however, I don't believe they would send me a ticket for those 2 miles. What's your opinion?

Speeding ticket (76 in a 50)?

So I was driving on a back road with moderate traffic and was doing about high 60’s low 70’s keeping up with traffic. The speed limit was 50 and as I came down a hill a cop stopped me. He said I was getting a speeding ticket and showed me his radar gun it said 76 and then he made me sign on a computer screen and then came back with a printed ticket. I heard that because the radars that print tickets print them when they record an exceeded speed limit the officer is required to show you the slip and if he doesn’t he most likely changed it then printed afterwards.
My question is because he didn’t show me the slip can I contest it and if I cant how much will a 76 in a 50 cost in California. Also im 18 how much do you think my insurance will go up.

Whats the point of having a portable radar flash your speed on a street?

I don't really understand why Police departments use these devices at the tax payers expense. Every vehicle everywhere has a speedometer in the center of the dashboard. It's not like a driver does not know their speed or the speed limit. Actually I drive faster when I see one to watch it for fun. It would be different if it was for photo speed violations. DId I miss something here?

How fast can the passing lane go in a 55 MPH zone? (Florida)?

I am a minor with a legal license. Today I was driving home with both of my parents from having an Easter lunch with my grandparents (one day early, it was convenient) and was traveling 60 mph (59, actually, but lets round) in the left-hand lane of a high speed highway. (I would eventually have to be in that lane anyway, because the right-hand went somewhere I didn't want to go.) The normal speed limit on that road is 65, but because of road work, it was reduced to 55 and hadn't returned to normal yet. Several cars proceeded to pass me on the right at SEVENTY mph, and, due to this, even if I had wanted to return to the right lane, it would have been very difficult without accelerating to a speed at which either my parents would grow angry or I would feel uncomfortable and unlawful at. By chance, a police cruiser arrived behind me and promptly pulled me over, perplexing both myself and my parents. He proceeded to write a ticket for "traveling at cruising speed in a fast/passing lane" (the ticket said "slow moving vehicle failed to move to right lane"). Not only was I OVER the speed limit, but I was in poor conditions to make the desired shift, and if I had chosen to accelerate to do so anyway, he could have lawfully given me a speeding fine.

Now that the situation and reason have been established, here is my question: What do the Florida traffic laws state about the maximum speed one may go in the left lane in order to pass a vehicle in the right lane, or what is a website at which I could find or inquire about this information? I am concerned about the legitimacy of my ticket, as are my parents.

(Aside, what kind of police officer ENCOURAGES a teenage driver to accelerate regularly when she is already five over the posted limit? Christ!)

Speeding ticket?

I got a speeding ticket this weekend. I was going 11 miles per hour over the speed limit. I am in California. Anyone else have the same mph over and in California? How much was your ticket for?
Are you serious? You must have been doing more then 11 over. I got one a last year doing 16 over and it was only 0.00
