My boyfriend (20 years old) got a speeding ticket [in a school zone] in September, he hired an attorney (paid 200 bucks!) & got it dismissed however, he had to take a defensive driving course (of course) and was placed on probation until January 25, 2010… because he is not a good driver (lol!) he got ANOTHER ticket for the exact same thing this past week! Another 6.00 ticket! He says he had no idea it was even a school zone but the police officer was very strict.

I was wondering what is going to happen now? Since he was on probation from the last speeding in a school zone ticket. Is there any way he could still get this one dismissed if he pleads not guilty? Should we call that attorney back & let him know he got another ticket? Is there anything he can do for it not to be put on his record & raise our insurance!?

I really appreciate your advice!

HELP!
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT TO DO IN THIS CASE! OR DOES ANYONE HAVE AN IDEA HOW MUCH A SPEEDING TICKET MIGHT BE THE HIGHWAY PATROL GOT ME WITH A RADAR GUN SAYING I WAS GOING 100
MY 1ST SPEEDING TICKET :(

So I got a speeding ticket this morning by a cop who was going in opposite direction(is that even possible I mean r those radars capable of picking up the speed of the cars going in opposite direction?) but my main question is, When cop gave me my ticket I noticed that he did not fill in the part where it says which type of radar he used to determine my speed so my question is, Is that a good reason to fight the ticket since it doesn’t say how he got my speed or just pay my 200 bucks and get the ticket amended?

Hi i just received a speeding ticket earlier today for going 15 over the speed limit. I am 19 (20 in 12 days), live in Missouri (and thats where i got the ticket) . I am just wondering how many points will i lose on my license as a result of this? On a side note i leave for basic training in two weeks so i am just going to have to pay it as i highly doubt that i have time get to a lawyer and all that to get it taken care of. Thanks for any help.

I’m 17 and I caught a speeding ticket tonight. I was going 11 mph over the speed limit. I thought I was driving in a 70 speed zone, but it was 65. How much will my ticket and insurance cost?

I recieved a speeding ticket going 88 in a 65 coming back from a town about an hour from where I live…I told my parents I was at work but really I was actually very far away, they are really strict about everything I do which is why I am pretty down about this situation. I am trying to get this ticket stuff done so they won’t find out… I got the ticket yesterday and signed up for Defensive Driving and started some lessons today, I haven’t completed the course yet because I haven’t sent my ticket back to the judge asking to relieve the ticket. I am really worried, this is my first ticket so I don’t really know what to do does anyone have any advice on what I should do (is it okay if i am signed up doing DD now before i get the ticket relieved)? what I should send? If i should tell my parents? what is the process is like?

PLEASE leave your responses it will make me feel so much better.
Thank You
Thank You for your help guys I went ahead and told my parents. I figured that i would get in more trouble if they found out. They are angry but I feel alot better. If i had tried to take care of the ticket myself i would have done it all wrong (I showed the ticket and forms to my dad and there were many errors). I’ve really learned a lot from this very short amount of time.

your advice was what really pushed me to tell them the truth thank you very much I don’t have to worry.

i got a speeding ticket, that ive already gone2 court for, and i need to pay it, and i definatley forgot what city i got the ticket in, and i really need to pay it..
I dont know where the court was

I want to contest this speeding ticket I got. I was driving behind a cop, I was going a little fast MAX 70 I was going 75 but not over 80. I was behind the cop he switched lanes, I passed he turns his lights on says I was going 78. On the ticket he put appox 85+ but I asked him "You said you clocked me @78?" he mubbled something really fast about not going to court and that I can still do traffic school so it won’t affect my insurance. I can understand pulling me over for going 8 miles over the limit but to put 85 on the ticket?! This is my first speeding ticket but 8 miles and 15 miles is a big diffence to me and I don’t know how much the ticket is and the cop said under 0, should I just pay and do traffic school or should I go to court?
I looked up some information, I can get the price of the ticket reduced if I go to court, honestly I’m a student I can’t afford much and anything over 0 means I don’t get a full meal until next month. I don’t mind paying the ticket but seriously if 78 means paying 0 and 85 means paying 0 what would you honestly do.

Has anyone in Southern Cal (specifically Victorville area) gotten a speeding ticket for doing 100 in a 70 by Highway Patrol? Just curious how much my ticket will be and how much my insurance will go up. This is my 2nd speeding ticket in less than a year :(

I’m 18 years old, I live in Georgia, I’ve had my license for the past year and a half and just got my first ticket for speeding. I went 14 over. 49 in a 35 zone.
I have a court date set a month from now and I’m financially able to pay for the ticket myself.
However, I’m trying to avoid telling my parents about the ticket because they’ve already told me if I got a speeding ticket they’d take my car away.
I’m just wondering if they will ever find out… would the police send information about my ticket in the mail?
I’m just worried about my insurance going up which would obviously make them suspicious. Shiiiit.
Is there anything I can do to ensure they don’t find out?
Or should I just get over it and tell them?
Well I was considering paying it online but I thought maybe if I went to the court date there was a chance they could lower the charges
I guess I’m just going to tell them.
Right now. D:

I got a speeding ticket from a police officer in a car. How do they check your speed, I was on the freeway, doing 75 on a 65. I know motorcycle cops use radar, or laser, how about car cops?

I got a speeding ticket on the freeway doing 93 in a 65. This is my very first offense, Reason I didn’t do my Community service was because I got a new job at Lockheed and forgot about it. Helping my sick aunt doing school and working I just totally forgot about it till I was cleaning my car and found out I am a week late… Will I go to jail over this ?

Okay, i got a speeding ticket in Oklahoma city awhile back. It was my first speeding ticket so i went ahead and payed some public transportation place a large amount of money to put me on their 6 months taking classes corse so i wouldnt have it on my record. Now, from here, i remember she talked about a website and then she gave me a receipt for my ticket and such, i lost that receipt and i don’t know which website to get on to take this test so i don’t get pulled over and get arrested or some crap like that. Please help!

This weekend I got pulled over by a woman sheriff for going 80 in a 65 mph zone. She issued me a 0 ticket. I believe this officer could have been more lenient since this is my first citation but thats another story.

I’m supposed to enlist into the delayed entry program for the Marine Corps this monday. Will this speeding ticket make me ineligible to join the corps at this times?

last night i got my first speeding ticket ever.. i was going 15mph over 50mph and i was polite to the cop and everything. the cop said the court is optional and the fine is 5.. i really dont mind paying for the ticket but i just dnt want the insurance to go up.. the car’s under my dad’s name and he’s paying for insurance since i’m paying for my college tuition (yea and i got no financial aid so i’m really struggling with money) i really dont want my dad to be mad about the insurance.. so what should i do? i know i should go in to court and talk to DA, but should i hire a lawyer? or should i just "negotiate" about the ticket? do you think DA could dismiss the ticket if it was my first ticket?
helpfuk advice would be greatly appreciated.. thanks

This is the situation:
I felt something weird with truck after some maintenance was done, I was driving down the road and I saw a cop traveling in the opposite direction divided by a median, anyways a minute later I look in my rear view mirror and he is making a u turn with the lights on, he pulled me over and said that I was doin 61 on a 40, it’s not possible, there was a lot of traffic and I remember been boxed in It took the cop a long time to catch up because there was a lot of traffic, and my truck was having issues , I don’t think he had an accurate reading, if he had any, the ticket says radar cd34, traveling opposite direc. EST60 mph, I looked at another speeding ticket I had and they were very detailed and had an actual radar speed reading not an estimate, he was traveling the opposite direction can he even get an accurate reading while driving? Since there was lots of traffic, I was boxes in and I was not the leAd car how can he proof it was me? Since the ticket says estimate 60 would that be an opportunity for me to win? Since we were divided by a median and him been in the farthest lane away from me how can he even get my reading if he was driving, anyways please help me fight this ticket i really feel the cop was trying to meet his ticket quota, he was pulling people over left and right, and when he saw me he was driving off from pulling someone over.keeping this facts in mind what can I use as a defense? WhAt kind of proof should I ask for?? Any tips? All help will be appreciated.

So I have a few questions regarding a speeding ticket that I received. I had gotten the speeding ticket on November 21st 2009.

That previous week I had gotten my wallet stolen so I had my license with me, but not in a wallet.

I explained to the officer that I had Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and I needed to use the restroom immediately and I coud not find my license (because it had fallen between my seats). I was willing to look for the license but the officer proceeded to ask me for my Name, date of birth, and address. He said that he would send me a ticket in the mail for 10mph over, and THATS IT. That was fine.

I went in on November 24th so that I could jus pay the fine, and be done with it. The clerk had said that there was nothing posted, and that the officer may not have filed the ticket yet. Okay…so I waited for the ticket which could be several weeks.

I waited and waited, and talked to a retired police officer, and he said that it coud take up to several weeks for a ticket to get sent in the mail.

Come January 11th, still no ticket but I received a notice stating that I have failed to appear for a court appearance on the 28th of December, and that I have a failure to appear, and my license will be supsended in 30 days unless I respond. I immediately go down there, to find out that I not only had a speeding ticket for 4, but another 4 unavailable license ticket, as well as a fine for late notice. So I filed for a hearing to contest the charges and penalties.

I have a hearing tomorrow, but will I be able to contest just each individual fine, or will it need to be just for ALL the charges?

I really feel like I got the crap end of the stick on this one, and I am not an irresponsible person when it comes to following up on scheduled court dates and fines, but I felt as if this was a VERY unneccessary/poor process for giving me a ticket.

What should I do?
I am in Washington state. I forgot to add that.
On the FTA status:

I had never agreed to appear in a court.

I had not gone in AT ALL and never received a ticket.

The Notice said that my account was delinqeuent, and I had charges that totalled 0.

On a ticket it usually says I have 1 days to respond, or I would automatically become guilty of the charge.

Apprently thats what happened. I never signed a document, nor did I schedule an actual hearing. Thats why I am so stumped on thei WHOLE thing.

I just got a speeding ticket stating I was going 54 in a 40 MPH zone (yes, sorry, I was in a hurry to go somewhere … please no answers about how I need to "slow down" … I know this, and I have).

I have received speeding tickets before (unfortunately), and they have always indicated the method used to determine my speed … radar, pacing, etc. However, this ticket does not state anything anywhere about how my speed was determined. The space on the ticket where the officer is supposed to indicated this is completely blank with nothing written in and none of the boxes checked.

Can my ticket be thrown out because of this? Is this a solid defense against the ticket? (And please, no answers about how I’m a bad person or something for thinking about fighting a ticket). I’m just looking for some sound, valid traffic law advice. Thanks.

I have been stressing about it alot and the speeding ticket costs . Will i be ok if I pay it?

Alright so this is my first speeding ticket and I have a few questions. Firstly, I was going 87 in a 65 and was wondering about how much I should expect for the fine. Also seeing how this is my first ticket in the 3 years I’ve had my license, is there a chance I could get it reduced if I got to court and how good are they? And lastly is there a way to push back the court date? It is just at a horrible time for me, I’d have to leave at like 4:30 AM just to get there and I have class that day.

I got a speeding ticket a month ago and the ticket still hasn’t been filed. My hearing date was today so I still mailed in the form to contest the ticket and get a court date.
Is the ticket still valid?
The officer didn’t even write the posted speed limit on my ticket and for some reason where he wrote my speed, he didn’t use the carbon copy paper. Everywhere else he used the carbon copy and what he wrote on his copy transferred to the carbon copy. But, he wrote in actual pen on the carbon copy for just my speed. Does what I wrote even make sense? lol

I live in Tucson, AZ

I found a speeding ticket just now that I didn’t pay. (its 1 month over-due as of today). For the first court date, I went to court and had it set for trial. I then went to the trial date, the judge decided that the officer was right due to use of radar to clock my cars speed, and the judge gave me a paper that said "Ticket/fine cost of 0, must be paid by no later by 8am on August 20th. The fine must be paid in person or by mail by August 20th, and if unable to pay you must appear on this date to explain why you can’t pay. If you do not pay and do not show up to explain why, a warrant for arrest will be issued and an additional 0 warrant fee would be added in addition to the ticket/fine cost, unless you had a valid/lawful reason why you didn’t show up."

I completely forgot about it, but now that I know I want to take care of it and pay it ASAP. Two problems though… First is I wont have the full amount of the warrant cost + ticket cost until TUESDAY (so tomorrow), as that’s when I get my paycheck. The other problem is I have a DMV hearing TODAY due to too many point violations on my license in a 12 month period(the hearing is not till later today though), and although it’s unrelated to the actual city court-system as it’s a DMV HEARING at the DMV, I’m pretty sure that when I go there, the DMV hearing officer will have to review my driving history/record/etc to decide if they will allow me to keep my license, and when they do, if that unpaid ticket has turned into a warrant (NO IDEA if it has or not, as I never got a letter saying I had a warrant, nor have I gotten any mail letter or phone-call from the court), then the DMV will be able to see that, and they’d might just call the authorties without me knowing while im there waiting and have me arrested + probably my license would be suspened for sure without even being able to have a hearing. It’d then look like I was trying to avoid/not pay the ticket, even though I WANT TO! The other option, is if I FIRST go to the city court-house instead when they open today, but I don’t know if they’d arrest me at the court-house, (assuming I had a warrant for the unpaid ticket). Even though I WANT to pay it, and I know I made a mistake by forgetting about it but I want to pay it and clear it up ASAP, I just wonder if the judge if in a bad mood or something decided to have me arrested instead of letting me pay partial today, and the entire rest of it tomorrow…. I have no idea how it works or how harsh they can be about things like that.
